Appearance:
Ruthie is a pale skinned Scottish girl. Even playing outside has only really caused her to burn, not tan. Her eyes are a dark chocolate brown. Her hair is naturally a dirty blonde at best, but lightens it regularly to a bright sunshine blonde. She did once go darker, but the bottle blonde is her regular look. Her hair is also notable because of its tight curls. During games or at events, she would wear it up, but otherwise it tends to be down. Her body is lean and athletic while her skin is clear and clean. She wears make-up daily but nothing too extravagant unless she is at an event.

As a young girl, Ruthie was tomboy and didn't care much for dressing up. She was always rather sporty in her appearance, which was a vibe she easily maintained through her Quidditch years, playing for the Pride of Portree. This changed recently as the press has begun to creep into her life, making her more aware of her appearance. She still is generally pretty casual, but has learned to embrace her femininity as well, especially in jewelry. She has also decided it's about time she let her curly hair run wild and accept that as its natural state.

Personality:
Ruthie is known for her enthusiasm in any and every situation, as well as her athleticism and curiosity. As a girl, she was known to explore the Scottish coast, something she still does whenever she finds herself in a natural setting. At Hogwarts, her perseverance in more ways than one, but particularly in Quidditch. Playing for Ravenclaw at school, she was known for playing the game creatively and collaboratively. She is not without a competitive streak, however, and enjoys winning, something that propelled her into the pro Quidditch leagues. Team-oriented, she takes her career there very seriously, believing in her team and their potential. She loves talking to anyone and everyone about Quidditch. Beyond her career, she believes in family strongly as her family was her life and support growing up. However, her own attempt at a family left her broken and unsure. As she embarks on this journey to start over her life, she is leaning on her enthusiasm, authenticity and creative problem-solving to see herself through both this career shift and the somewhat daunting process of reclaiming her life.

Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Ruthie was born in Cupar, Fife, Scotland. Her father Ross was a muggle fisherman and her mother an English herbologist who came to Scotland to study the flora there. When she was six years old, she displayed her first sign of magic by unconsciously breaking a fishing net when she saw the fish floundering around in pain. Her mother Clare recognized this as magic and decided to move the family somewhere even more remote to Arisaig, the last town before the Isle of Skye. Here and on Skye, Ruthie would spend her time in nature, often exploring the tidal ocean life or chasing after puffins along the shoreline. She also enjoyed going out with her father on the boats early in the mornings with her younger sister, Kirsty.

At Hogwarts, she was sorted into Ravenclaw house like her mother before her. She built strong relationships with her peers, especially the Quidditch team. In her third year, she made the team and her mother bought her a Silver Arrow, which she cherished with her life knowing it was not an easy gift for her parents to afford. She remained on the team throughout her time at the school, excelling offensively. Academically, she found herself faring well in Herbology and Transfiguration and struggling in Divination, preferring to focus on the here and now.

After school, she spent a year reporting on local Quidditch matches before being recruited into the pro leagues, originally by the Appleby Arrows. She trained hard with them and learned a great deal, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to join the Pride of Portree, her favorite childhood team. She has stayed with them ever since, helping them to achieve many victories and establish a key position in the league as well as fun memories while traveling with the team.

Notably during this time, she has seen an increase in attention from the press, something wholly unfamiliar to a country girl. Struggling with the pressure, she retreated into her old school books to attempt the only thing she thought might provide an escape: an animagus form. After a great deal of preparation and the arduous pain of a first transformation, she was able to successfully transform herself into a puffin! Although this form did not particularly impress her, she has come to enjoy the prospect of flight and its benefits.

In terms of a family life, she had quite a few beaus, but settled on an old flame from Hogwarts, Jonah, who was working at St Mungo's. The couple seemed perfectly happy in the eyes of the media and for a time, they were. It was only when Ruthie came home from a Quidditch tour, during which time he had been distant in his owls, that she discovered he had been carrying on an affair. Filled with furry, she was set on divorce, but as she was going through his papers, she also discovered he was learning more and more about the Dark Arts and had been keeping this from her too. She began to realize this was not the man she married and wanted nothing to do with him. Once all the papers were submitted, she poured herself some firewhiskey and looked out her flat window, unsure what her future might hold.

And so, Ruthie has found herself reluctantly in the position of starting over her life.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
The difficulty of Christmas shopping was not something she had taken into account when joining the pro leagues. So much of the ordinary moments she hadn’t anticipated at all, changing like this. As a girl, she’d held this romantic image of what sports could be, fed from The Prophet and the Wizarding Wireless Network. But no news source could describe the ferocity of its tabloid brethren.

Only the snow could provide her some cover as she tried to maneuver through Diagon Alley, window-shopping. Despite this, she always knew her blonde curls and warm smile always made her stand out. Even if she dared to transfigure her clothes, she feared it would hold very little effect should a camera appear uninvited out of the darkness.

Ruthie was so entrenched in the careful balancing act of spotting potential gifts and avoiding attention that she did not notice an aged man, who had been shouting, headed her way. It was only the impact of his body, which forced her attention away from the plated window glass, that alerted her attention to the fact she was not as alone as she would like to be.

Blinking, her hand reached down to examine a piece of tinsel that had fallen across her strawberry coat. Following the tinsel tail, she saw it led up to a box, full of even more decorations for the season.

Turning her head, she saw the man, risen now, oscillating between anger and apology. As she stood on her own heels, her left hand gently waved downwards, as if to motion for him to lower his voice. “It’s all right,” she informed him, grateful that he had not recognized her yet.

Quickly, she levitated the tinsel across to the box with a flick of her wand. Years ago, she might have chatted but now, she knew not to waste time for every second was a risk she’d lose a chance at normality.

“Have a lovely holiday,” she wished him with a genuine smile, “And take care with the box.”
