Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Even as a child, Linwood Hale was attentive, thorough and stubborn, which made his parents, William and Lucienne, exceptionally proud. If he was a bit difficult to deal with sometimes, they had full faith in his role as heir to the Hale name. Linwood considered himself somewhat of a guidance figure for younger brothers Weston and Quentin, never mind they weren’t very far apart in age, and that self-appointed responsibility remained with him to adulthood.

Linwood attended Hogwarts with his future mapped out in rigid detail, the plan he'd created for himself when he was nine years old. Persuasive, charismatic and relentless, he studied magical law in private study alongside a variety of subjects, of which he favoured Charms, History of Magic and surprisingly, Astronomy. Quidditch helped to round out his education, primarily in the role of Chaser. After graduating from Slytherin house with the class of 1939, Linwood climbed within the Ministry of Magic from administrative lackey to apprentice to law practitioner, just as planned.

Some years after graduating, Linwood married to unite two pure families, a union which both parties treated as a business transaction. Though he and Margot share platonic feelings on the best days, nobody would dare to doubt his devotion to their three incredible children. They were an unstoppable force; Marlowe, Emory and Gemma would rule whatever future his children desired, and Linwood would spare no cost to help them along the way.

Like any family, Linwood's had its share of scandal and tragedy. When Weston defied their parents, Linwood and Quentin remained firm to the duty of lineage and all but ignored Weston's family. That all changed when Quentin died too young, along with Lucienne, leaving Linwood an uncle to three fatherless children. It hardly seemed fair that Weston's children had two fathers while Quentin's had none.

After that day in 1957, Linwood reassessed his standing with his last living brother. Though Weston's marriage to Tiberius remained a conflict with William, Linwood swore to make an effort to connect with the married men and their children, December and Marvel.

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Linwood slipped an ornate pocket watch from the hidden pocket in his vest and nudged it open with the familiar flick of his thumb. After a brief glance at the minute hand's position, the monogrammed silver cover clicked closed. Margot was late. Surprising? No. Irritating? Endlessly. Too bad I vow to remain punctual to you hadn't made it into their wedding vows those many years ago.

Another ten minutes passed before Linwood realized his wife had no plans to turn up, because Margot Hale specialized in avoidance, particularly where promises to her husband were involved.

Never mind, then.

After tossing an extra sickle on the table to pay for his time, the man ventured out to the street. He was determined to accomplish something productive before his next obligation. Not four strides later, a voice caught his attention, raised in distress only metres away.

Without thinking overmuch, Linwood pushed through the throng of people until he saw the source of the cry. He positioned himself in the way of traffic, a dam to block the river of people and direct it away from the fallen girl.

"Leave it," he told her, extending his hand downward. She could come back to the shoe once the way had cleared, or buy a better pair. No reward in being trampled.
