Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Mouse Märchen

Birthday: 2nd May 1943 (currently 13)

Hometown: Hogsmeade, Scotland (family is from Oslo, Norway and he goes there at least 3 times a year if not every holiday)

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Divination

Magical Weakness (pick one): Transfiguration

Year (pick two): Fourth Year, Third Year.

Biography:

"And that is the way of the world,"
Mouse knows how the world works. The cats chase the mice and the mice deal with it. It's a dynamic that makes the world go round, yet nobody ever asks the mice how they feel about it.

Mouse says it sucks.

Whether you're British or Norwegian (he's both), there's no other way it can be explained. Different languages, adjectives and verbs- it didn't matter. It was survival of the fittest and he was unfortunate enough to be one of the weaker willed members of society.

His older sister, Cat, was the opposite. She got great grades, all the friends, their mothers approval and she knew her dad. She could sing, dance, act, attend social events without having a panic attack and most importantly, she was beautiful.
Mouse heavily disliked her.

He didn't dislike her because he was jealous of her about all those things (as if that weren't enough), he disliked her because she knew she had it all. She knew she could manipulate him to do her bidding and she knew that he wouldn't stop her.
Mouse trusted too much. That was his weakness, he was loyal and trusting and eager to please.

Except, in real life, kindness is taken advantage of and that is the way of the world.

Mouse is an anxious teenager, wanting to do his best to try hard and succeed at the things he enjoys. Living in the shadow of his older half-sister, he sometimes thinks it's all pointless. His mother claims that he's a soft soul, someone who feels too much and hates too little.

Being a young teen is hard to navigate and without the father-figure in his life, Mouse is often left wandering around wondering what he's supposed to be doing. It's almost as if he's surrounded by traps and one wrong move could bring everything tumbling down.
He's often found with other members of his family, such as his all types of cousins, to gain their insight on what life is like when you're not second-guessing your every move.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Oh God..Slytherin? Ravenclaw? What do you think?

Personality:

Mouse is a bit of a two sided coin. He’s both black and white - literally, he sees in those colours. Colour isn’t a part of his world but he doesn’t know any different. He knows his sister likes pink - she does on enough about it, but he just doesn’t understand why pink looks so similar to..everything else. Mouse only asks about things that interest him and colour just doesn’t. At school in classes and around lots of people, he’s shy and withdrawn. May it be lack of self confidence or just ignorance, he refuses to talk. With those he knows well and holds dear to his heart, he’s just a tad insane. Bouncing off the walls, tearing things apart to answer whywhywhy and exploring are his main activities that he enjoys.

Appearance:

Mouse looks slightly different from his sister, that he knows. She and their mother have brown hair. Mouse has blonde. Theirs is straight, his is curly. At least they all share the same blue-green eyes. He’s pale and has a round nose that his sister teases him for, saying he was called Mouse because of it. He is tall for his age at five foot eight. Weight is completely average, if a bit on the skinny side.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

He was digging but it was a secret. If he had to guess then he supposed it wouldn’t be allowed. Headmistress probably wouldn’t appreciate holes in the grounds, especially since it was near the flowers. They were pretty flowers, he’d admit that but he’d seen prettier things. Like Min’s smile and the ice cream stand in Hogsmeade.

Though he wasn’t quite sure what exactly he was looking for, Mouse was still on his stomach digging with just his hands. Sometimes doing it muggle style was better than magic, he didn’t think he knew where has wand was at the moment actually. Perhaps in his trunk or under his bed.

At the moment all he was getting was dirt under his nails so it wasn’t very successful. His sister had even painted them for him over the holidays!

Next thing he knew, some dude was shouting and Mouse popped up onto his feet with a defiant “Hey! My names MOUSE not Rat, thank you!”

It took the dirty handed teen a moment to realise that the stranger probably hadn’t been talking to him as he was acting as if he hadn’t been. Either he was right and the boy was being ignorant or he was wrong and the boy was ignorant. Either way, ignoratus over there was stepping closer to getting a knuckle sandwich, featuring some worms and a hint of flower petals.

“I ain’t staring at yah! You’re the one being a brat!”

One more word and dirt was getting thrown.
