If you are applying to be a fourth year or above, your biography must be at least three hundred words long.

Caitlin was born the oldest daughter of Alistair and Margaret McLeod, after two older brothers. The McLeods being among the oldest and best respected wizarding families of Scotland, she never knew real need for anything. Even though the small family did not live on the family’s lands but had rather made a small home on the outskirts of Shawbost, a home they frequently had to expand during the next years. The McLeods being a close knit family however, they were never really separate from the rest of the family and visits were frequent
.
Caty grew up not only among her two older brothers and (later) her little sister, but also various cousins, aunts, uncles and even nieces and nephews, and while most frowned a bit on her boyish interests in fighting and everything that was even remotely exciting and dangerous, their family being an open and democratic one she wasn’t discouraged, or at least not by many. The McLeods have always valued family above everything else, and they all knew she would face enough difficulties without any of them adding to the pile. Family had to stick together, that was more important than personal opinions, especially in a time of war, and many believed anyway that the best way for any one of them to contribute was to pursue personal interests and talents, no matter where they might lie, and while most followed conventional patterns on their own accord, there was always the occasional oddball who did their own thing.

Growing up, Caitlin proved to be not only a quick study and interested in all sorts of things, but she also proved to have quite the temper, cheerful though she was. After she came home once too often with a black eye and bloody nose from a fight with one of the village boys, one of her younger uncles started to instruct her in self defence.  Caty, rather annoyed by her most recent loss, put all her energy into that and was only satisfied when she managed to take on her older brothers and cousins without a stretch.
The war affected her, of course, but while many men from Shawbost went off to war never to return, the islands themselves remained mostly unscathed and if anything, the injuries she has seen in her time only strengthened her resolve to learn how to defend herself and her loved ones – not only in a brawl but magically. Caitlin is a fighter by nature where her brothers are more farmer and scholar respectively, and she could never understand the spoilt little princess act her sister put on, or why their parents let her get through with it – the world wasn’t all sunny days and rainbows, after all, it had proven that sufficiently already, and she for one wouldn’t go down without a fight.
So for that, among many reasons, Caitlin is excited to start at Hogwarts and finally learn real magic, not the random bursts of it she had in her childhood.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Caty hopes to be sorted into Gryffindor.
(As a player, I’m fine with anything you think suits her best)

Personality:
Caty is a bright lass, almost perpetually cheerful and optimistic, open-minded and friendly. Full of energy, she is rarely seen sitting still unless she absolutely has to – or at least that goes for her free time.
Rather contradictory to her bouncy, energetic nature, Caitlin is highly intelligent and spends a surprising amount of time studying, even beyond her schoolwork. As a result, she always has an abundance of random facts to draw upon in conversation and to undermine her point in an argument.

Caitlin is the kind of person most people would love to call their friend: Cheerful and open-minded, compassionate and deeply loyal. Once she has let someone into her heart, she will stick to them and stand up for them, no matter what. But make no mistake: She is also deeply independent in spirit and doesn’t take kindly to being told how she should act or what she should do, as especially her brothers and cousins have learned the hard way. In that, she is quite rebellious against customs and the expectations of modern wizarding society, determined that nothing and no one will stop her from going her own way.
Caitlin is confident, but also rather stubborn and can come off as brash sometimes. Once she has made a decision and as long as she believes in something, she will stick to it, for better or worse, and is not afraid of dealing with the consequences of her actions should she fail… but as long as there’s even the slightest sliver of hope, she’ll take Cadogan’s Pony and keep on trying.
She has always been a bit of a rebel and definitely has a fighting heart. She also won’t stand down from a challenge and rather enjoys competition of any sort.
In all her confidence, Caitlin never considered herself any better than other people and in fact, she is rather modest. She does what she thinks is right and certainly always gives it her best, but that’s no more than anyone else would, right?

Appearance:
Caitlin isn’t really tall for her age, but she is above average, and not just because she’s almost a year older than most students her year. Also, she appears to be a bit taller than she actually is due to her slender built, but don’t let that fool you: Caty has earned plenty of strength growing up and, more importantly, knows how to use it should a fight come her way.
Much like her body, Caitlin’s face is rather delicately built, with high cheekbones, a slender nose and her dark lashes and brows only drawing more attention to her startlingly bright amber eyes.
Her hair is so dark it could almost pass for black, were it not for the auburn reflexes it shows when the light hits just right, and it falls in gentle curls down to her waistline. She usually wears it open, but can be seen to tie it back in a ponytail or braid for convenience.

At home, Caitlin prefers leger, but distinctly girly clothes, equally of muggle and wizard origin, but she feels quite at home in her school robes too.

Ever since she got her, Caitlin is rarely seen without her cat Artio somewhere close by.
Artio is a slender, long legged cat with short, silky fur in solid pitch black. She has the startling habit of sticking to the shadows while moving around, making her almost impossible to spot until she decides to show up right in front of someone. It seems to be a fabulous game to her to see how often and easily she can start people like that.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Option 1:

Caitlin was bored. It was something that happened to the young witch rather often, though less so since she had school and homework to think of – thankfully most of that was actually interesting. But now that she had finished, she didn’t have all too much to do, and if there was one thing Cate absolutely hated, that was doing nothing. If the weather had been the least bit better, she would have gone off to explore the grounds in an instant, but with the storm raging outside, even she could see that it would be madness to do so.
After hanging around the common room for a while and watching her brother with his friends, sighing every now and then, she shook her head. What was she even doing here? There was bound to be something better to do. Merlin’s beard, there was an entire castle to explore and she was sitting here doing nothing? Now she really had lost her marbles!

Abruptly, the young girl got to her feet and stormed up the spiral staircase to her dorm, grabbed a few necessities and was out again, Artio on her heels. The cat must have sensed her excitement, for she stayed close instead of straying as soon as they were out the portrait hole.
Some of the other students stared after her, but Caitlin completely ignored them. Let them think what they liked, she was going to have some fun now.

After a moment’s thought, she decided to explore starting from the very bottom of the castle, and ran down the stairs taking two steps at a time in her excitement. This was going to be fun. Maybe she could even figure out where the common rooms of the other houses were? She had seen the Slytherins at least go down to the dungeons after dinner, and she would bet a full week’s dinner that their common room and dormitories were somewhere down there.

The dungeons were a cold, unfriendly place, but Caitlin didn’t mind that too much. They were supposed to be this way, and living on the Outer Hebrides, she was used to damp cold anyway, not like all those whimsical British who were already huddling in their winter cloaks. They’d be in for a surprise when winter really came.
At some point, as usual during her exploring, Artio slipped away on her own, probably to hunt some rats or something. Caitlin knew that because Artio would make her a gift of them occasionally. She didn’t mind too much. In the worst case, she had to get rid of them herself. Alison would have minded that terribly, but she was no prissy little princess like her younger sister, after all.
Pushing those thoughts aside, Caitlin moved around the dungeons, turning this way and that, her hand trailing along the roughly hewn stone walls when she heard a voice. “H-h-hello?”
It sounded like a girl, same age or even younger than her and definitely scared. Caitlin frowned and started to head in the direction the voice had come from, when she heard it again and, turning around a corner, found the person it belonged to.
“Not that I know of.” She flashed Evangeline a grin. “So… why are you down here looking for ghosts, Eve?” She had, of course, heard some rumor or another about this Emma Birch ghost, rumors that were either true or spread by older students to scare the newbies. Either way, Evangeline wasn’t down here out of curiosity, that was as sure as rainy days in autumn. It was something Caitlin would have done herself, maybe, but not Evangeline, or at least not the Evangeline she knew, and looking at her now only confirmed her suspicion. “Someone talked you into this?”
She wouldn’t blame her if someone had. It wasn’t always easy to be confident, and Eve wasn’t the most confident girl anyway.
Caitlin quickly ducked down to hide her sigh, picking up Artio who had been lurking in the shadows again. “There you are, you rascal.” For a little while, she just stroked the cat, but then she turned back to Evangeline. “Do you want some company down here? I don’t have anything better to do, and I can explore the dungeons either way. But I think I’d appreciate some human company down here as Artio keeps running off. It gets a little gloomy after a while.”
