Biography:

The Chabernaud family is an ancient family of French aristocrats with records of the family dating back over two thousand years. They are one of the few noble families to survive the revolution due to their ingenuity and ability to keep secrets. These abilities allowed them to take parts in both sides of the revolution and easily side with the winner. Their involvement in the revolution and many other events is a well kept secret and the family does it’s best to prevent any leaks. They have even gone as far as changing the memories of those that had discovered facts about the family that should not be known. The family line has always excelled at charms, more specifically the charms dealing with memory and have put those skills to good use over their existence to insure their safety. They have been located in France since the building of Carcassonne and were key in it‘s construction. At the time the family had excelled at crafting magical objects and placing wards into them, so they laced the walls and foundation of Carcassonne to protect those inside for many forms of possible dangers and those spells are still providing security to those inside the city this day. There is also the story of Dame Carcas, who was a young witch of the Chabernaud family who prevented the city from being taken over. Shortly after the city’s victory it was named after her, Carcassonne or ‘Carcas sonne‘ (Dame “Carcas rings“), and she rang the bell of the city the entire day to celebrate their victory over their enemies, or so the story says. The truth can be found in one of the many libraries in the Chabernaud château.

The family had obtained the majority of it’s wealth from money exchanging/extorting back in the medieval ages, but it has been dwindling ever since. However, the family was never in need of wanting until a few years ago when the then head of the family, Alard, had lost it all with his gambling addiction. It was shortly after the family fortune disappeared that Alard was found dead. It is presumed that he died of depression, but in actuality he had been killed by the people he owed money to. They have since been trying to collect the debt from Clément’s mother, Emma, who has been in a state of depression since her husband died.

Clément spent his childhood roaming the maze that is Carcassonne and mastered the maze of the designers intent. As a young boy he picked up fútbol and played daily until his powers started to manifest, at which point the family sealed him in their home and it was reported that he had fallen ill. Several weeks later he was allowed to go back outside, this was mainly due to insistent nagging. With his powers still not under control he found himself losing friends dude to the unfortunate events that always seemed to happen around him.

One afternoon he aimlessly wandered into a rehearsal of Die Entführung aus dem Serail and found himself drawn to it and calmed at the same time. It was several weeks later that he realized that the focus that theatre brought him allowed him to control his powers better. That very day of this realization he returned to his home and asked to be allowed to perform.

After obtaining permission he approached the best theatre in Carcassonne and was turned away with the owner laughing. He did not give up however, and continued to try until he found a small theatre behind one of the areas that wayfarers roamed. It was here that he was finally accepted and was able to learn from truly great artisans. The kind of artisans that did not care about monetary gains and performed for the beauty of it. They enjoyed what they did and were able to give that feeling of love and desire to the young Clément.

When the letter from Beauxbatons arrived Clément was ready. He had been performing for a little over a year and had extensive knowledge in the background and inner workings of the theatre. His skill on the stage was unmatched by most of the senior students of the school and he quickly became the envy of the other boys and the heart throb of the girls. However, so far he had not been distracted from his dream and desire to become the best in the world at theatre.

During the summers he would return home and rejoin his family and friends at Carcassonne and return to work at the small theatre for as long as he was able. It was not until his fourth year that this routine had been changed. During the summer of 1972 his father, Alard, fell ill and succumbed to his sickness leaving him as the head of his house and the only heir to the family fortune and name. Hi mother Emma has been slowly deteriorating since. She has lost the will to continue living and only at the sight of her young Clément does she even break a smile. It has been left to the house elf, Thimble, to take care of her which she happily does.

The last two years have been trying for Clément but he has prevailed, mostly due to his inability to stop moving forward despite the hardships. When his father had died he had found out that the family was in debt, very much so. It turns out that his father had been betting a lot in his final days and had left the family fortune entirely gone. It has since been up to Clément to raise enough money for supplies for school and food for his mother over his breaks from school. While the Chabernaud fortune is all but spent the family still retains complete ownership of the family château and it the place of residence for the two remaining family members. The villa has recently fallen into disrepair as the majority of the villa is unused through most of the year and it is far to large for Thimble to clean by herself.

Personality: Clément is a dashing young man. Full of energy, life, and positive thoughts until it comes to his father, which it rarely does. He goes out of his way to help others and tries his best to keep the decline of his family a secret. The family laws have been hammered into him since he was a child, so he acts carefully and thoughtfully never jumping into any situation without thinking of possible repercussions first.

Appearance: Clément is a ravishing young man with short brunette hair and green eyes. He is tall for his age, but it has only helped him in regards to his life goals and passions. Lean and fit he glides across the floor as a deity causing the hearts of all that see him beat a little quicker as they experience a true artisan at work. He does his best to dress casually but usually fails as his desire to stand out amongst a crowd takes over unconsciously.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!"

Clément jumped quickly as hot soup poured down his back scalding him for the briefest of moments. He reached around with his wand, twirled it with a flourish and smiled as the soup pulled itself from his body and clothes to float as a bubble of soup in the air.

”Aïe!” he said quietly but firmly. Knowing not to interrupt the show any further than it already had he began to wave his wand around and quietly recite spells he had learned over the past few years. More specifically, spells on how to clean up messes and be quite about it. His response to the scene was dignified, calm, and pointed. As he was cleaning he leaned over Hilary and whispered ”I do hope you are alright. It  is very dark in here and quite easy to stumble about.”

The mess was cleaned quickly, and he sat back down inviting Hilary a seat next to him and his ‘clique’. It just so happened that they were seated at the best place in the hall and Clément hoped that Hilary would notice and brighten up from the realization. The show was splendid and ended quicker than Clément would have liked. As the everyone got up and started to leave Clément  turned to Hilary and said ”So, how are you enjoying Beauxbatons so far? Made any friends? If not, I could show you around to quite a few good people. Most of them are in the performing school, but we are a good bunch of people. What do you say? Want to join us?”
