CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character name: Julia Cole

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: Mara Cole & Co.

Character age: 27

Character education: Hogwarts - Hufflepuff, class of 1956

Strength and weaknesses (details please): While Julia may seem like she's all strengths on paper, that couldn't be further from the truth. Her success at Hogwarts led her to believe that she'd have success in the real world as well. Now she is uncertain of if she'll ever achieve anything in life or if her glory days are behind her.

Physical description: Julia has a look of someone who could be young, but looks a little more aged due to hardships in life. She has shoulder-length red hair and blue eyes, though a bit duller than they used to be. She rarely smiles, smirks perhaps, but doesn't smile very often. She puts some effort into her clothing style, attempting to make herself appear more put together than she actually is.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.): Julia can seem a bit aloof when she first meets people. Of course, she's never mean, but she prefers not to let anyone get too close to her as she'd rather let others believe her past trauma has made her strong instead of how weak it has truthfully made her.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?: Since graduation (with the exception of a 10-month stay in Azkaban), Julia has been working at St. George's and The Hag's Head. While she loves her work at St. George's, working at the Hag's Head all these years have drained her. She wants to find a better job and feel useful instead of dealing with the degenerates that visit the Hag's Head.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):

As a child, Julia had the same hopes and dreams as most children. One day, she'd grow up, get married, have children, have a career she enjoyed, and always have a happy life. After all, that's how it had worked for her parents. She saw no reason why her life wouldn't follow the same path.

She was the oldest of all her siblings and was used to helping take care of the younger ones, though she'd rather be out adventuring and exploring. But still, she accepted her responsibility as oldest sibling. It was a bit strange for her when she headed to Hogwarts. Being away from her family. Sure she still had to share a room, but it was different than sharing with Miranda, the next oldest Cole, who she didn't always get along with.

However, when Julia was 14, she witnessed her mother's death as her youngest sister was born. It made Julia rethink that picture of a happy life with a husband and kids. How could she have kids after seeing that? And she knew any man she possibly married would want to have kids. And in a flash, all her hopes and dreams disappeared. She decided she'd focus on a good career. She could at least have that. So she studied, and threw herself into every curricular she could. She even learned to become an Animagus by the age of 17. She was the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain for 4 years, Head Girl, and several other honors. She seemed to have her pick of any career she wanted.

But then another life-changing incident occurred just a couple of months before graduation. The werewolf attack. Her Head of House had sent her to go help with the problem, which in the midst of it, felt like an honor. She felt like due to her Animagus ability, she'd be able to easily help with the werewolf. But unfortunately she was brought down by the creature and spent weeks recovering in St. Mungo's afterwards. She felt weakened by the attack, and not just physically. The school had counted on her, and she failed them. It didn't matter what fancy badges they gave her, she was still a failure.

The only good thing that came from the incident was a job opportunity with St. George's. While she enjoys her work there, she still feels empty inside, and working nights and weekends at The Hag's Head certainly doesn't help.

She's tried to feel useful, like she is doing good. But the last time she tried (which included bird-napping a mistreated Fwooper from someone high enough in society to cause a major fuss about it), she wound up in Azkaban. She feels limited by her current jobs and wants to find her purpose in life. So when she learned of an opening at Hogwarts, she figured that perhaps teaching others could help her find that purpose. After all, she had wanted kids all those years ago, and she supposed teaching kids and helping them grow up was the next best thing.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.

In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:

Oh god, she was running late. The person filling in for her at the Hag's Head was late, which made Julia have to stay until they showed up, then she had to quickly go home and change into something much nicer for this interview and then make her way to Hogwarts. It didn't even leave time for her to be nervous until she made her way into Ivanova's office.

"I am so sorry," she said, all the nerves hitting her at once. She hadn't been here in so long, or faced with the Headmistress, but she suddenly felt like a student again being summoned to the Headmistresses office. "I know there is no excuse for my tardiness."

Julia reached into her satchel and pulled out her resume. "Here is my resume, and some of my accomplishments since graduation," she said, handing the paper to the Headmistress. Most of these accomplishments were her work at St. George's. She desperately hoped Ivanova hadn't been keeping tabs on her. If she'd known about her time in Azkaban, she was sure she wouldn't get the position.
