Name: Billie Miller

Birthday: 19th September

Hometown: Queens/Oxford
Muggleborn / Halfblood / Pureblood / Unknown

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): 6th Year/ 5th year

Billie Miller is a HalfBlood New Yorker, she has lived in queens most of her life. Her mother, Ella King, is a proud woman. Always busy working for MACUSA she barely acknowledged Billie. So, when she went to work in the early hours of the morning Billie would sneak out onto the streets, where she’d meet her friends and they’d sing for tourists. Little ditty’s that to this day bring a slight smile to her otherwise biting exterior. Her days were mostly filled with running around the streets of New York with these little friends, they adopted her as their own. Most were orphans, she told them she was too. It sure felt like it. These kids became her family, the realities of the world yet to hit them. They lived on whatever they made (or stole) and stayed out night after night, laughing, singing and marvelling over the weird things Billie was able to do. She neglected to them she was a witch because it simply didn’t matter to her. She wanted to be everything her mother wasn’t. So, she simply refused to be a witch.  When it came time to enrol at Illvemorny, she kicked and screamed. Left the apartment for nights on end. Yet she must go, there was no way around that fact, her life on the street couldn’t continue, her mother was onto her routes and their paths. Her friends began to start distancing themselves from her. She knew who’s doing this was. So, without one single goodbye she accepted her fate. Sorted into Thunderbird, as her mother before her she rarely attending her classes and started fights where she could, she felt desperate to be out in the real world, where she had connections and friends. She barley relied on magic, something that her mother absolutely abhorred.  She became hardened to the world around her, she only took from magic that she could use to her advantage and the rest could all burn a far as she cared. All the same she was popular, her biting wit and ferociousness appealed as a guard for popular against the normal of the school. They adopted her, soon she rose to high power in the social chain. She played a game of self-preservation, bullying for the power, dating for the gossip and fighting for the glory. She was the rebel, the slut and the ferocious of Illvermorny. 5 years of this became too much, however. She hated her life at Illvermorny and became determined to leave. One night, she took a walk with a 7th Year Horned Serpent, named Patrick Lee. She returned to her dormitory. He did not.  Patrick Lee was found three days later babbling and crying. Driven to insanity. The events of that night are unknown to everyone but Billie. The headmaster, assuming she had something to do with this expelled her from the school. She returned home and the rest if that year became the best year of her life Ignored by her mother, she returned the streets. Now a ‘grown up’ 16 year old, her ways of getting money were more mature than singing in street corners After all what are rich white men for? She reacquainted herself with old friends and her life began as she always wanted to. But at the end of the summer, she returneted to the flaat to grab some clothes but as she entered her room, she saw to her bags packed and man standing in front of her. All she had to do was look at him once and she recognised him. Though never meeting him before in her life. Her father, Frank Miller, was an English muggleborn that in a moment of weakness her mother had succumbed to his charms. She had been banned from talking to him. But Billie knew now why he was here. Like having dated to a mudblood, an expelled half blood was something her mother simply refused to associate with. Before even talking to him, she knew her fate. Hogwarts.

House Request: Slytherin

Billie is known predominantly known for her quick it and cynicism. She knows how to get what she wants and understands people. She gets what makes them tick and gets how to grind their gears them It doesn’t take her long to get an accurate assessment of you. She loves jazz music and secretly is looking for someone to actually give her the time of day. She won deny her enjoyment of romances, or more accurately trips to the broom closet. It gives her cause to start fights. There is very little she won’t bring up and will always use information against you. Because of this philosophy she is very guarded and if you bring up the name Patrick Lee, you should run as fast as you can.
Tell us a bit about your character’s personality (likes, dislikes, fears, etc.) What are they like on a good day versus a bad one? Is your character particularly cheerful? Do they hate sunlight?

Long, wavy dark ginger hair, often let loose down her back. She takes excessive pride in her appearance as she considers herself to be very attractive. She has deep green eyes and constantly looks slightly rugged. But believe me, it is all purposeful. Her looks are a power in themselves, and she will use them. Her expression is often brittle, constantly looking like she has a problem with you. Which in all honesty, she probably does.
Briefly describe your character's appearance (hair color, build, stature, etc.) What effect does it have on their personality? For example, does the shy Ravenclaw girl secretly dye her hair black because she hates her natural blonde? Does the curly-haired Gryffindor use charms to hide his freckles?

How your character kept up with their studies: Whether your character was still at Hogwarts or left school entirely for a while, tell us how they were able to keep up with their studies and learn about magic, which would allow their levels to keep increasing.

You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not Evangeline's or Hugh's.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

“I don’t need telling what’s polite and what’s not” said Billie, in her thick New York accent that always startled anyone who hadn’t met her before
She looked at him curiously, refusing to break eye contact with intent to scare him slightly.
“I heard you’re a good herbology student and I’m behind, so I thought you’d like a challenge and do my homework for me” She said bluntly.
This was not true, her herbology homework was sat neatly in the common room but she needed his rat. This rat, at breakfast, had jumped onto the table and started eating from her bowl. In her anger she knocked the rat off the table and said that she’s so sick of rats at this school and if she saw that rat again, she would kill it. Very harsh, she was aware of that, but some stupid oaf further up the table heard her expression of anger and dared her to kill the rat. And she wasn’t about to get a reputation for saying things she didn’t mean so the rat had to go.
Ignoring Hugh’s response to her indignant question, she said “Jesus that’s a fat rat” pointing away from the flower patch. As his eyes darted away from her she lifted her wand to call the rat to her but as soon “accio rat” was out of her mouth Hugh’s eyes returned to her as the rat came flying towards her

How did you find us?: recommended by Marilyn-Rose Wilson

Calypso Ross:
Hi Billie,

Welcome to the site.

Your application looks good so far, however there are a few things we’ll need you to edit before we can get you accepted.

Firstly, you use the word ‘slut’ in your biography. As per our site rating:

--- Quote ---Profanity related to sexual activity (including words like 'slut', 'slag', or 'whore'), excrement, or body parts is not permitted, except for the mildest of terms (e.g. "bum").
--- End quote ---

You’ll need to remove this from your biography to ensure that your application adheres to the site rating.

Secondly, you write the following:

--- Quote ---One night, she took a walk with a 7th Year Horned Serpent, named Patrick Lee. She returned to her dormitory. He did not.  Patrick Lee was found three days later babbling and crying. Driven to insanity. The events of that night are unknown to everyone but Billie.
--- End quote ---

Although you don’t go into detail here, this is what constitutes a darker or complicated plot. You will need to submit a plot special request if you wish to keep this in your biography. Further information on special requests can be found here, the special request template can be found here. Alternatively, you can remove this element from your biography. Please be aware that special requests can take some time to approve and student applications close on 31 August 2021, so you should aim to submit this ASAP if you wish to include it in your biography.

Thirdly, in your RP sample, you powerplay Hugh’s rat (both at breakfast and when you summon the rat). Given that the rat belongs to Hugh, Hugh’s player should be in control of the rat and what it might do. Please rewrite your RP sample so that you do not assume any of the rat’s actions.

You also mention Billie’s plan to kill the rat in your RP sample — again, this would constitute a darker plot, so we would ask that you remove these references from your RP sample in this instance. Please be aware that any plots involving intent to seriously injure or kill other characters or animals would require a special request.

Finally, you mention that she is successful in summoning the rat. As per our magical rules, S11 is required to summon an intelligent being. Therefore, Billie would not be successful in any attempted summoning of a live creature. Please take the time to read through our magical rules to ensure that you understand what your character can and cannot do.

Once you have made the required changes, please repost your entire revised application below and we’ll be happy to take another look. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM or Discord DM (Yas#4887) me. Thanks!
