Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Henrik was born as the second son to two proud parents: John Rolfensen, a talented wizard, and Emma Rolfensen, a muggle piano instructor. To Henrik, his brother, Jeremiah Rolfensen, is, was, and always will be the most moronic scrap of human flesh that ever walked the surface of the planet. They hardly ever got along growing up, especially when it turned out that Henrik had the magical talent inherited from his father while Jeremiah was, well, a squib. His elder brother took after his mother in both looks (blonde hair, blue eyes) and personality (pleasant and excitable) while Henrik took after his father with brown hair, brown eyes, a glare that could practically kill, and an overall serious demeanor, even as a child.

He was enrolled in Hogwarts and to his father's absolute delight was placed into Ravenclaw, making high marks in all of his classes and achieving an Outstanding on all of his N.E.W.T's. Once he had graduated, his father pushed him to become something great. A part of the Ministery, perhaps, an auror, but Henrik had no desire for such things and for once in his life went against the wishes of his beloved father to seek something that, instead, made him happy. Despite his desire to do well in school, he had always secretly longed for a quiet life, away from the stresses and pressures that his father and the world had placed upon him. He always saw himself as an ordinary man. Intelligent, certainly, but above all one who enjoyed nothing more than silence and some nice, quiet, peaceful company. Anything else made him snappish and irritable and he had no desire to live his life drawn so tight he was near the point of snapping and cursing out anyone who happened to be in his near vicinity.

It was then that he met Robert Fowler, an older man who was seeking an assistant in potion making. It seemed as good a job as any and likely something that would not prove to be too stressful, so he accepted the position and moved to a new location with his cat, Ludwig, in tow. And the more he got to know Robert, the more he liked the man. Robert brought out the best in him. They proved to be an excellent team and shared many similar interests. With Robert, his life was calm and quiet and he found that he was more content with him than he had ever been before. A few years later, affections were confessed and the two of them became partners.

For many years Henrik was out of touch with his family. He hadn't heard from his brother in many years or either of his parents until he received an owl one day informing him that his mother had passed away. Jeremiah was understandably distraught, the two of them had been very close. And when Henrik went to visit him, trying to make amends after many years of disagreements, he found out that his brother had, surprisingly, married to a very unfriendly, large, butch woman and that the two of them had a daughter together. That meant that he was, as odd as it sounded, an uncle. Unfortunately the girl turned out to be exactly like her father had been when he was a young man (and still was) and so Henrik never desired to have much to do with the girl (naturally, she and her parents paid regular visits anyway). A few years later, his father died from sickness, and though he mourned, Henrik and his father had never had as close a bond as they'd had when he was in school. He had betrayed his father's wishes twice in his later life, first when he did not become the great wizard his father had wanted him to be, and later when he fell in love with another man. But he never regretted either decision.

When Robert eventually retired as head of his family, Henrik stayed with him, the two of them looking for something else to do as they lived out the rest of their lives together. That was when the idea of a shop came about since the two of them had always had a great interest in books, particularly very ancient tombs, and Henrik had always adored tea above all other drinks (during his schooling years it was the only thing that kept him sane). It was then that they came into the possession of their bookshop and, later, their tea room.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

It was impossible for Dianne to stay out of trouble. It wasn't that she was looking for trouble, it's just that trouble always managed to find her. Today she wished she could find something equally familiar but more comforting.

The five-year old girl hugged her puffskein closer to her and brushed her face in its soft fur for comfort. She had named him herself and he was always her special pet. No she was certain she had never gone down this side street before. Her anxiety increased every second as darkness fell as she walked down the road. A loud noise came to her left and she buried her face in her pet's fur completely. The scared girl bolted the opposite way slamming the both of them into the wall of the nearest building. Tottering back a few steps she found a door a few feet to her right and ran to open it. What light there was inside spilled out into the darkness and she spilled into the room.

Once in, she was caught between the impulse to curl her cloak up more tightly around her and loosen her grip on it. She wasn't alone anymore but she was now among strangers instead, which was nearly as terrifying. Her puffskein had recovered from the shock of the wall and now was purring contentedly as the girl hugged it, causing a mildly calming effect on the girl. Gathering her courage, she marched up to the nearest person, pulled on the nearest clothing hem and blurted out in a loud voice:

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home."

She paused to draw a breath in her nearly never-ending sentence, "He misses my and his mommy."

To explain the scared girl held up the custard-colored puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein, however simply purred as if nothing on earth was wrong in the world.

Roleplay Response:
It was late and he was about to close up shop for the night. Robert had gone upstairs just a few minutes ago to read and relax his aching joints, and all that was left now was the mess that their last few customers had made, teacups and other empty bowls and plates scattered about along with a few books that had been borrowed to read in the dim evening light of the shop. The kettle was on the stove one last time and now, for once, it had not been placed there for any teenage or adult customer at all but for himself. It was time for his evening after-hours tea, a calming cup of rooibos to soothe his frazzled and frayed nerves after a long day. He loved the business and he loved his shop but he had never thought that such a thing could be so stressful. It was the scent of the books and the scent of hot tea as dark as midnight that kept him going and Robert's constant presence that kept his temper in check.

Busily returning books to their proper places on the shelves by hand (he had always preferred to do some things by hand after growing up in a household where one parent was a muggle), checking bindings and pages to make sure that no rowdy child had torn or damaged anything in their excitement to read the ancient manuscripts, he turned when he heard the telltale sound of the bell hanging above the door, signaling its opening. It was odd, he thought to himself. In his hurry to put the kettle on he must have forgotten to lock the door.

"We're closed," he stated, deadpan, over his shoulder. But when the voice spoke up and he turned to see who it actually was that had barged in so rudely, he saw that it was only a little girl. All the easier to rid himself of her, then. He would throw her bodily out if he had to.

"You're in my shop, that should be obvious enough," he scowled, stepping towards her. "And I haven't got any time for the likes of you and your— whatever you called it." He huffed, shooing her back out from where she had come from, unaffected by what others might have seen as being ridiculously adorable. All that he saw was a nuisance. "Now run along and bother someone else with your pitiful eyes and endless questions because I want nothing to do with you. Go on, out. Out!" One hand on her shoulder, he practically shoved her out the door again, puffskein included, and slammed the door of the shop behind her. And just to make sure that she could not disturb him any further, drew out his wand and pointed it towards the doorknob. "Colloportus."

There. Now. Time for tea.

SHOPKEEPER QUESTIONS
Answer these questions only if you are applying to be a shopkeeper as well.

Shop name: Alles Saugt Rare Books & Tea
Shop Description (200 words minimum): Upon moving to London three years go, immediately Henrik and Robert set out to find themselves a place to set up, and bought an older house on the edge of Diagon and Knockturn Alley, next door to a Teashop, and renovated the place into one floor of a bookstore and three floors of living space above it.

Calling the store Ludwig's Fine & Rare Books after their cat, the store catered to those interested in collecting tomes, ancient and out of print, some incredibly hard to find, many of them related to such things generally considered darker arts or potions. After three years and moderate success catering to the academic crowd, when the owners of the teashop next door were looking to move on, Henrik bought the store and renovations were begun to combine the two, the last of the work ending in November.

Renaming their shop after the teastore to attract the other's clientele, they are now the Alles Saugt Rare Books and Tea, catering both to collectors of books and academics and also people looking for a snack.

The shop is now connected, with Alles Saugt teashop a few steps down as the left hand neighbour, with an open connection the bookstore, allowing patrons of both to mingle, and the living quarters remain above the bookstore, with the attic space being used to let to a boarder.

What purpose will this shop serve other than selling things and being the home of your character? Why would people want to RP there just for fun?
Tearoom, serving fine full-bodied rich full leaf tea, and the quiet atmosphere of the bookstore to alleviate the bustle of those being served, with both books that aren't easily available elsewhere, and corners in which meetings are perfectly welcome.

The bookstore and house is on the cusp of Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley, while the Teashop itself is inside Knockturn.
