→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Romero Dominic Xavier Hunt

Birthday: 12/12/39

Hometown: Albacete, Spain

Bloodline:
Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination

Year (pick two): 6, 5

Biography:
The tragedy that was the life of Romero Hunt began the day in December he was born. Sure, he was wanted by his father because Rome was a part of the woman he loved and together they would be a family. Except his mother only really wanted a baby because it would tie her to an affluent Halfblood family and money was more important than building a family to her.

So when Dominic’s family, strictly and proudly Half-blooded for several hundred years, rejected Romero as the son of a Muggle-born witch and in turn rejected Dominic, Rome’s mother disappeared. His grandparents offered Dominic a portion of his inheritance and it was more than a lot of people would ever have but it was nothing compared to what he would have received if he would have married a woman from another stringently Halfblood family.

Despite being rejected from most of his family, the first half of Romero’s life was generally good. His father was a good man and made up as much as possible for having only one parent. Romero was happy and while he started out a little shy when meeting people he was quite outgoing once he was comfortable with someone. Mostly, however, it was Rome and his father and that was just fine with Romero.

Things changed when Dominic met Isidora, a poor, widowed Pureblood woman. Romero was around ten when his father introduced him to her and the young boy did not welcome the change. His dad was his best friend, why did things have to change? Once Romero was eleven he went off to Beauxbatons and on his first visit back home learned that his father had married Isidora without even telling him.

It wasn’t too long after that when the nightmare started. The same one, night after night, swept into his room and filled him with a darkness so dense he felt like he was suffocating under it. Even when he fought sleep, turning him into an insomniac, the nightmare consumed his life.

Being at school helped somewhat but he still began acting out and after several years of fighting, Beauxbatons finally expelled him and his father decided it was time to move back to Dominic’s birthplace of England.

Everything changed with the move to England and yet nothing had. He'd had to wait months before his father gave in and Rome transferred into Hogwarts at the beginning of 1956. Isadora had insisted Rome be taught by private tutors since he'd been expelled from Beauxbatons and shouldn't be rewarded by living away from her and his father again. And still his father did not see the evil in his wife.

It took nearly five months of Rome's 'bad behaviour' before his father was sick of the sight of him and sent him off to Hogwarts for someone else to deal with.

And Rome was free again, for a little while.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin, please!

Personality:
Rome does not trust people and while he’s social enough to interact with his peers he detaches himself from most personal connections. He likes to keep his hands and mind busy to keep memories of his past from creeping in but it doesn’t always work and he turns despondent. Has very little respect for authority and hates feeling like he’s being controlled.

Appearance:
Dark brown hair and even darker brown eyes. He’s tall at 6’5” with lean muscles. He’s been boxing for several years, plays the piano and does both pottery and painting which makes his arms well defined. He’s also often found with dried clay on his fingers.

Option II:

Rome did not like enclosed spaces for long periods of time so he haunted the grounds and the rooftops of Hogwarts more often than he hung around inside the halls.

Today found him in the gardens, sat on the backrest of a bench while his feet were planted on the seat of it. His elbows were resting on his spread knees and a cigarette dangled between the first and middle fingers of his right hand.

His head was lowered, brown eyes focused on the ground but he wasn’t really seeing the vibrantly coloured grass beneath the bench. He wasn’t really seeing anything surrounding him. He hadn’t slept again last night unless he were counting the two hours he tossed and turned before finally throwing back his covers and getting out of bed covered in a cold sweat. And he wasn’t counting that because it would mean he’d let her back into his head and that he was having nightmares again. So he’d just pushed the thought of attempting to sleep from his mind and did what he always did. Roamed the corridors up the rooftops and watched the stars against the inky blackness until they disappeared into the lightening grey of a new day.

Now he was here, tired and angry, but he was used to that. Those were the two most common states of mind for Rome. It was just easier that way.

"Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

The voice caught him off guard and a muscle ticked in his jaw. Rome was almost always on high alert but clearly the lack of sleep over the last week was starting to get to him.

Slowly, he lifted his head to find the source of the voice. A boy, surrounded by a bed of flowers. It was almost too easy to ridicule him, but Rome wasn’t in the mood. Instead, he slipped his long legs off the bench and stood, his intense gaze now trained on the boy while his head tilted to the side ever so slightly.

“Not staring, mate. Never saw you in my life before this very moment, sorry to disappoint.”

Rome dropped his cigarette to the ground, pushed the tip of his shoe against the tip and continued to watch the boy.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
He hated this. He’d told his father this morning there was nothing in Hogsmeade that they couldn’t find within London and Diagon Alley. Or, more precisely, Knockturn Alley for Rome. Dominic had insisted, stating something about wanting to share memories of his time growing up at Hogwarts with Hogsmeade as his stomping grounds while in school.

In Rome’s mind, the time for father and son bonding was long past, shot to hell years ago. His father had betrayed him and nothing could ever make up for that. So Rome had disappeared from his father’s side while he’d been pointing out some stupid candy in some ridiculously named sweet shop.

Now he was sat on a bench in a park named for one of Hogwarts’ founding members (a tidbit his father had proudly shared earlier as an alumni of the wizard’s house), a cigarette dangling between the first and middle finger of one hand while he used those same fingers to pick at some dried clay on his other hand. He wasn’t much of an artist but pottery and painting kept his mind focused when the darkness and shadows filled his head and threatened to claim him.

Nothing had changed with their move to England. He’d tried to tell his father that too, but as usual the man didn’t listen.

"...Do you want to play?"

Slowly, without raising his head, Rome’s eyes slid upward to land on a child standing nearby and apparently addressing him. He looked at her for a long moment and would have actually raised his eyebrows in surprise at her bravery in addressing him if he wasn’t intent on trying to scare her off by staring her down. It wasn’t often that people, particularly children, weren’t thrown off by his silent, brooding manner.

After close to a minute he simply said, “No.”

Then he leaned forward, put the cigarette between his lips and let his nearly black brown eyes do their best in attempting to ward her off.
