SHOPKEEPER PERMIT
You must have applied as an Elsewhere character before completing this permit.

Shop name: The Snake Pit
Shop Type: A bar
Location: Knockturn Alley
Subforum? Yes, please.

Short Description:The Snake Pit is one of the few bars left in Knockturn Alley. After been in business for sixteen years, the man has a steady flow of customers that keep the business going, but he’s searching for more. The thirst to be the best in area keeps him striving for excellence.
Long Description: After having taken a month long trip to America earlier in the year, Leo’s curiosity had been peaked by the various entertainment ideas the Yankees had. They sure had a different way of letting loose, but it would end up being the perfect angle to rejuvenate the bar, to bring in new and younger customers. Something different would surely bring in more money, and perhaps give him that number one spot he so craved.
Once he arrived back home, Leo hired more female bartenders, performers, and added a long list of mixed drinks to his already lengthy list of alcohol concoctions. Loud music fills the atmosphere, greasy food served, and now beautiful women took the time to dance and have a good time on the main serving counter. Of course, no Black establishment would be complete without shady dealings on the side.
The business arrangements were made in the very back room, away from the prying eyes of customers, but the hour of day didn’t matter to the man. Just as long as the bouncers did their job, and protected those entrusted in Leo’s care, he didn’t mind what all happened inside his establishment, just as long as he got a cut of it. So come one, and come all, to the Snake Pit!

What purpose will this shop serve other than selling things and being the home of your character? Why would people want to RP there just for fun? It's a shady place to have a good time and forget about your troubles. More so for the middle class, than the uppidty establishments like the Muse or the Moulin Rouge.

Biography: (300 words minimum.)
The Black family had a long and tumultuous history, mostly due to the mysterious deaths surrounding the ominous members. Different men in various generations all suffered perplexing deaths, all at the age of 46. It never affected the women, just the men, usually precisely twenty six evenings after their birthdays. A curious, curious thing, the curse of the Black men.

Coming from a long past of wealth and shady dealings, the family led extravagant lives.  Constantly, the parents had parties, filled with equally as shady and manipulative attendees as them. Their mother was always draped in diamonds, always dressed in the nines, no matter what the occasion was. However, their father, though he was never without a suit, was also never found without a glass of bourbon in his hand.

A firm, strict hand was kept within the Black household. Their sprawling estate, located on the outskirts of England, was larger than any found in the area. Horses, quidditch, and tutoring filled the lives of the children. The eldest, Elliot, and the youngest, Leo, were incredibly close despite their ten year difference. The latter had always looked up to his brother, mimicking everything from dress to hobbies.

That bond lasted throughout the years, even when Elliot’s wife had given birth to their only child. Leo had treated her as his own, but of course, with more freedom. Though he loved his brother and sister-in-law dearly, they reminded him far too much of their parents. Bless their souls. He, on the other hand, had no interest in marriage or children, instead preferred to be able to give the rascals back.

A year or so after Phoebe was born, Elliot and Olivia had purchased a new home in London, to which Leo followed suit, not wanting to be too far in case of any emergency. Around that time, the youngest Black had also opened his bar The Snake Pit in the deepest part of Knockturn Alley, along with a second home near Hogsmeade. Over the years, the flow of patrons had been steady but he was ready for a revamping.

Preferably before he croaked.

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
The streets were incredibly busy, despite it being an off season. The school term had already begun, and therefore, he was puzzled as to why there was so much chaos going on in the streets. Pulling the leather closer to his chest, the man made his way through the crowds.

All he wanted was to pick up some bloody supplies for the bar, not socialize with the entire village. Keeping his head down, Leo tried to sidestep the patrons, trying to keep his arms as close to his body as possible. All he wanted to do was to reach his vendor to get the alcohol he needed for that evening.

A helpless voice called out. He let a sigh escape, and an eye roll appear. He should've kept walking, just continued down the path to his destination, but instead, the man turned on his heel, squeezing through the small spaces to reach the woman on the ground .

"Get up, you aren't helpless," he said, very obviously annoyed with a hand outstretched to her/
