Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Moira Sylvia Wolffe

Birthday: 21 December, 1949

Hometown: Born in London.  Resides in Llanwellyn, Gwynnedshire, Wales.

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): First, Second

Biography:
Daughter of former Head Boy Edmund Wolffe and wild-child Irma Wolffe (née Scrivner), there was never a doubt that she would be a handful.  On her daddy's birthday, a short six months after their graduation from Hogwarts, Moira Wolffe joined the world.  She is the eldest of seven(!) children, and by rights the de facto leader of the 'Cubs' (as they are lovingly called by their parents); the other children can disagree all they like, but it makes no difference.

Moira has never been accused of being timid.  She jumped off the roof of their front stoop when she was three, just to say she'd done it.  By age seven she had broken bones no less than 6 times.  Fearlessness was a trait she definitely inherited.

Moira's mother is the co-creator and CEO of Wolffe and Scrivner Cosmetics (WandS), along with her Nana Viv.  This growing empire in the business found the Wolffe family moving to Wales, to a literal factory town; and a real (if run-down) mansion with 168 acres of woods surrounding.  Moira and her sisters Bonnie and Rosie have been having adventures in those woods for years now (Juliet, Connor, Colin, and newborn Isabella are still too young to appreciate the nuances of swordfighting with sticks and running from invisible 'dragons' and 'trolls').

It had been understood since as far back as she could remember that Bonnie and Moira would be attending Hogwarts at the same time.  This ignited a friendly rivalry that became a game for them, one that Moira enjoyed very much considering she was the elder of the two and her powers began manifesting earlier.

She is looking forward to seeing her mother's siblings at Hogwarts: 6th years Dave and Dev, and 3rd year Cress (whom she refers to by name only; of the three, only Dave insists on being called 'Uncle').  They have always been playmates and extended siblings more than aunts or uncles.

Her best friend (and sometimes partner-in-crime) is Lily McCormick, the eldest of another huge family whom she has known since birth (or so she's told).  Their friendship has never been questioned.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Hufflepuff.

Personality:
  • Moira has a tendency to come off as bossy, as headstrong (even stubborn), a trait she shares with her mother (and father, though he tends to deny it).
  • She is fiercely loyal to her family, willing to break rules and get in trouble for them.
  • Once upon a time, she professed a fear of dogs.  She now insists she fears nothing.
  • She is definitely a cat person, having recently acquired Glam, a small tortie ocicat.
  • She can be exciteable, and quite sassy when confronted.
Appearance:
Blonde with curls for days.  She has a round face, and has been wearing makeup since as long as she can remember (always a WandS girl!)  Her eyes are naturally blue, and her smile is (nearly) always genuine.  She doesn't like to hold still for very long at a time.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

Option I:
The mistake had not been following the girl.  Trailing her down the hall, down the stairs, watching her like a super-sleuth on the tail of some sort of nefarious heist.  The mistake had not been removing her shoes early on, as the left one tended to squeak when she moved wrong.  It wasn't her (probable) interest in the girl as a potential friend that was in error.

The girl was on an adventure, and that was too much to pass up.

No, the mistake, her real error had been in her insistence on carrying her shoes instead of stashing them behind the suit of armor at the end of the hall.  Her mistake had been holding onto them as she made her sneaky sneak to sneak up on sneaksville.

'I should have worn sneakers,' she mused, having only just learned the word recently from an American muggle magazine one of her housemates had smuggled in.  'Ahh, muggle-smuggling... that was too-cute!'  Here, lost in that thought, had been her mistake.  For in that amused moment of mental wordplay, the other shoe had dropped.

Literally.  It fell from her fingers and hit the floor with a dull thud!  Moira froze, holding her breath and ducking back around the corner.

"H-h-hello?  Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

Moira's face pinched up.  What that all this was about?  She'd heard the story, many times even, that her mother had been witness to the crime so many years before.  It was hard to imagine an invasion of that scope.  Such a senseless murder.  Since... she was stalling when she should be acting...

"Do you think she'd answer you if it were her?" she asked from around the corner, before revealing herself.  "How many people d'ya think go looking for Birch every year?"  She shuffled her remaining shoe to her other hand to offer a cordial handshake, "Moira Wolffe.  I'm new, too.  Seriously, looking for Emma Birch?  She didn't even die down here.  I heard it was in a classroom..."

Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Moira was born on her father's birthday- three weeks early from her actual due date- to newlywed couple Irma and Edmund Wolffe.  From the start, Moira was the boss and made sure they knew it- feedings were on her schedule, and a messy diaper was not tolerated for longer than a few minutes.

Her sister Bonnie was born less than a year later- a full eight weeks early and just as demanding of their time and even moreso their effort to care for the preemie.  From the start, it was a sibling rivalry for the ages.  In the end, not so much- Bonnie was content being the little sister, and Moira found her challenges for power unmatched.

By time Moira could remember anything, she'd always had at least two sisters, her father worked long hours and only saw them in the evenings and weekends, and their mother was a WandS lady.  Well, as she found out, The WandS lady... she and Nana Scrivner owned the company.  For a while, that's what she thought every family was like: father worked long hours at a job somewhere else, mother owned a super-successful company.

Forward a few years, Moira was frequently compared to her mother- others have said she is just like her.  As they've grown (she and her mother), they've taught each other a lot- how far the young mother can be successfully pushed before she starts acting like Grandmother.  How many ways can she find an ally and not just an opponent in Irma?  Moira isn't as pushy as she used to be, but she's still the boss.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
She was supposed to be looking for her sisters.  A game of 'Hide and Seek', which really meant a game of 'Keep Yourselves Entertained while Momma and Her Friend Gret Talk Business'.  But Moira didn't want that today- today was a day of 'Hide and Let Them Stew'.  She wanted to go check out the shops.  Check out the boys up chasing around a Snitch.  She wanted to become a professional Quidditch player, maybe (but not for Puddlemere United, they were awful but she didn't have the guts to tell her family that)... it was her life's goal a week ago, before she'd discovered that wands had different cores and had to be harvested by real people doing real dangerous work (that was quickly rising towards her number one obsession... for now).

The scrimmage going on overhead was good.  That boy had good form, though nowhere near enough to play for a pro team.  Grandpa Scrivner let her go to Puddlemere United games, so she knew what professional flying looked like.  That boy?  She'd probably see him playing for one of the houses when she got to Hogwarts.  She made a mental note to find out more about him- though how that might happen, she had no clue.

"John, I said wait up!"

Moira smiled at her good fortune.  The little girl was staring up at the same group of kids, so she figured she had a one-in-three chance that her boy-in-question's name was 'John'.  She glanced back up at the sky to see who, if anyone, might respond to the name.

"You!" the girl barked, surprising them both it seemed, "...Do you want to play?"

The blonde looked up at the boys overhead and smiled, "Sure do."  Then looked back down.  "I'm Moira.  Moira Wolffe.  You?"
