Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Jace Oliver McCormick

Birthday: 1 March 1948

Hometown: Godric’s Hollow

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Transfiguration

Year (pick two): Fifth, Sixth

Biography:
Despite the darkened curse on the McCormick name, family meant everything to the clan. It was a promise of always and forever, even as the five four brothers had dwindled down to just two. It had only made the family closer and wanted to be around each other more often, so much in fact that Louis McCormick had agreed to move from Norway back to England for the sake of family.

Packing up his wife and four children, they made the drastic move to Godric’s Hollow, only a couple streets away from his older brother in the countryside. Of course, Jace and Tristan had put up a bit of a fuss, not liking the idea of switching schools after being so comfortable at Durmstrang. The only upside was slightly warmer weather and the nostalgia of attending the school his dad and uncles had when they were younger.

Jace loved his family and would do anything to protect them, even if his younger siblings and cousins were annoying. He was a very carefree and ambitious teenager, but has a tendency to snap when it comes to those taking advantage or bullying anyone that means something to him.

He’s not the best with studies, but he puts forth effort with the subjects he thinks are important, such as charms or history of magic. He’s not ashamed of being a halfblood, or his father’s muggleborn status, but there’s a part of the boy that tends to get uncomfortable during muggle studies. It’s foolish but he can’t help it.

Summer was fun, spending time with family, but he was ready for more interactions with other teenagers. All in all, Jace is ready to start Hogwarts and find what awaits him there. Even though there will be friends to be missed from Norway, the idea of an adventure gets him excited!

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Gryffindor, Slytherin

Personality:
Jace is definitely the type of teenage boy that enjoys being the center of attention. It’s not a surprise that he tends to be labeled as the class clown, trying to make others laugh or be in shock of the utter garbage that tends to spew from his mouth at times. He enjoys having a good time, whether it’s allowed or not, and spends a lot of his time in detention. He’s typically incredibly friendly and makes friends easily, but he still holds people at an arm’s length.

Appearance:
Jace cares about his appearance, but likes to style it so that fact isn’t easily noticeable. He likes his dark chestnut hair to be messy and his uniform to be slightly skewed, just enough to annoy anyone looking too closely. Because he hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps, he takes care of his body, watching what he eats and regularly training.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Standing behind a nearby wall, the boy had to keep himself from snickering. He could hear a young girl’s voice echoing in the empty corridor, and it seemed like she was scared. For half a moment, thoughts of Deanna or any of his younger cousins came to mind and he almost felt bad for what he was about to do. But then, it was his job to scare his family, so why not add an innocent soul into the mix.

With a playful grin dancing brightly and arms outstretched for dramatic effect, Jace slowly turned the corner and walked like a zombie towards the young student. His eyes rolled back as he tried his best to look out of it. The boy could feel the corners of his lips twitching slightly as he tried to keep a straight, emotionless face in the process of the slow steps.

“Meeeee want braaainnssss,” he moaned, attempting to hold back the laughter. He hoped to scared her before the eruption of noise escaped him. “Giiiiveee meee braaainnss.”
