Dear Mr Mulligan,

My name is Jade. You've never met me, but I saw you once on stage at Majestic Hall in San Francisco back when I was six years old. Dunno if you've heard, but they renamed it the Fillmore a while back. Not sure if you were still stateside back then. I remember, you were playing the sax, opening for -- damn, nevermind. I can't remember who it was. Funny how I remember your set like it was yesterday. I told my mother that night I wanted to be a sax player just like you, but it turns out the guitar is more my jam. I can sing, too. Momma used to tell me I have a voice like Ella Fitzgerald, but she's exaggerating, obviously.

Anyway, it's about her that I'm writing. Mom, not Ella Fitzgerald. I hope you remember her, but I donut you will. She sang back vocals for you once, but she says she never spoke to you again after that night. Her name was Jackie Anderson. She told me you let her play a tune on your sax backstage before the show. She was a music teacher, and a muggle.

She died 2 months ago. She and the other teachers from her school were on strike, and protesting. According to the cops, the protest turned into a riot. I don't believe it. They're teachers, not thugs. People can't tell the difference anymore. Maybe they never could. Anyway, a bunch of people died, and momma was one of them.

I've been trying to cope on my own, but rent is due again in a week, and I don't have enough of her savings left to pay it. I guess that's why I'm writing to you, really. I hate to say it, but I really need a bit of cash and I don't know where else to turn. It's only for this one time. I'll be off to Ilvermorny after that, and I'm graduating this year so I should be able to get a good job after that and handle myself. I'll pay you back, too. Promise on my name as a Mulligan.

Thanks,
Jade M.

Hi kid,

Sorry to hear about your mom. If you'd like to stay at my place, I've sent you everything you need. Make yourself at home. I'll be gone until October.

Regards,
Joshua Mulligan

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

Personality:
Jade is a creature of passions. Passionate love for the people she chooses to care about, which translates into a protective fierceness, capable of blazing bright anger to contrast with her otherwise cool demeanor. Passionate about music, colour, and all things creative. Even in her silent moments, she makes sure her every fibre, from coiffed hair to stylish boot, reflects her individuality. Passionate about herself, as well, though not to the point of selfishness. Rather, Jade is besieged by a near insurmountable pride. Asking for help , leaving her home with her tail tucked beneath her legs? That's a last resort that will have her coming into the UK with a rather sour disposition.

Appearance:
With squared shoulders and an exuberant appearance, Jade is much shorter than how people tend to remember her. Her thick black hair, in its natural state, is short and fluffy, but she's learned how to style it in all sorts of shapes and sizes, with magic and without. Thick cleats of makeup will often coat her fine dark features. Even in her darkest moments, her almond eyes always glint with a spark of defiant life.

Option I:

This place could give anyone the heebie jeebies. A shiver ran down Jade's spine, and she couldn't, with absolute certainty, figure out whether she should blame the cool dank air or the general creepy aura that permeated the dungeons. It was probably both, but she'd only admit to one.

She'd been trying to find her way out of here for a while, now, but if there was one part of this castle she couldn't seem to get a hang of, it was the dungeons. In a building which boasted a massive array of moving staircases, that was saying something.

A sound further down the corridor gave her a start and Jade came to a halt. She stood for a moment with bated breath, ears peeled to the sound. Footsteps! It was only footsteps. The realisation made her relax, letting out her held breath as a smile began to form upon her lips. A person was good. A person was company, and company could make anything seem less frightening. Company might also give her a hand getting out of this maze of a basement. The person, a girl, unfortunately seemed to be searching for somebody else. Someone specific

"Nah, sorry kid," Said Jade, stepping closer so that she could see the young Gryffindor properly. "Name's Jade." She let a beat pass and put on her friendliest smile. Time to strike a bargain, preferably without the other party realising Jade was actually asking for help, too. "How about I help you find your friend and we all step out to the gardens together? It's getting kinda musty in here, don't you think?"
