Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Much to the chagrin of the ultra-posh Benjamin and Susan Elfman, the post-Muggle war years saw their only son Levi eloping with and embracing the bohemian lifestyle of Abigail Rosenberg. Though the young woman came from a respectable enough family, Levi would never have elected on an extended gap year... one that carried on and on and on... were it not for Abigail's infectious free spirited ways. Most unorthodox.

It might have been no more than an inconvenience to Levi's parents and an embarrassment where society was involved, but within the year a baby was involved. Susan in particular found the idea of her first grandchild roaming throughout Europe like some gypsy unbearable, and wasn't shy of letting the trio know it throughout the years and Levi's infrequent visits home.

Ferryn Affinity Calyx grew up reveling in such freedom. They traveled constantly, met fascinating people - both the magical and muggle varieties - and camped under the stars or in abandoned buildings. Anything in between.

It stopped suddenly, when she was about ten. Calyx didn't know why.

She suddenly lived a life of great restriction, in the care of her grandparents. Their opulent, stifling world was full of rules. Don't touch that. Stand up straight. Elbows off the table. Smile. Hush, mind your manners. Time for School. Calyx was compensated, if not outright bribed, by her grandmother in exchange for behaving properly. She didn't always tolerate it even then. Bored, that's what she was. And when bored, Calyx couldn't help but find small ways to rebel. Oh, she did have her own code of conduct and certain personal rules. She was just a little more stubborn, a little more flexible, when it came to others'.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
It was a day she'd needed for quite some time. A break in the clouds, some sun on her skin at last. Grandma never sat in the sun; too worried over tanning - or worse, wrinkling. Calyx didn't care. Sunlight was good for people. Italians or Greeks, for example. They were out in the sun always, swarthy and happy and full of zest for life. Travel to the Mediterranean... that, she'd need to repeat. Once she was of age, she'd do precisely that and anything else she pleased, even if it was finding one of those secluded beaches she'd heard about where folk walked around completely nu--

"You!"

Calyx blinked, shaken from reverie by one of the young children playing nearby. One whose small face was a cocktail of fiery determination, no less.

Calyx raised her eyebrows questioningly. "Me, ma'am?" she replied wryly.

The child seemed to reconsider her approach. "...Do you want to play?"

Calyx's grey eyes studied the little girl with veiled amusement, gaze flitting briefly between her and the boys outpacing her on brooms. Why not?

She smiled and rose to her feet.

"Sure. What are we playing?"

Hi Calyx, welcome to the site!

Your application looks good, however there’s one thing we’ll need you to change before we can get you accepted.

In your biography, you write:
Quote
Susan in particular found the idea of her first grandchild roaming throughout Europe like some gypsy unbearable,

Today, the term ‘gypsy’ is considered offensive and/or a racial slur by many communities. As per our site rules:

Quote
Discriminatory profanity (for example, relating to race or sexual orientation) is not permitted.

In the interests of ensuring that our community remains a safe and inclusive space for all, you’ll need to edit the offensive term out of your biography. In future, please also take care not to use controversial terms that could be deemed derogatory. If you’re unsure whether or not a term is acceptable, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and either confirm with an admin or not post it at all.

Once you’ve made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we’ll be more than happy to take another look. Thanks!
cherry lips, crystal skies
i could show you incredible things

stolen kisses, pretty lies
you're the king, baby, i'm your queen
