(accidentally switched people)

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Devin Thorn Scrivner
Birthday: 11 October, 1944
Hometown: Fingringhoe, Essex.
Bloodline: Pureblood
Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning
Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination
Year (pick two): First, Second

Biography:
The second son of Marlestowe Scrivner and American-born Vivienne Abbott; identical twin brother to David Scrivner, born on an early morning in October of 1944.  He has an older half-sister, Irma Wolffe (née Scrivner), and two younger siblings Cressida and Beau.

The Scrivner family lives in a mansion- Colne Manor- in Fingringhoe, Essex.  Marlestowe is the chief publicist for the Puddlemere United Quidditch team (established here); his campaigns have led to Puddlemere United being among the most advertised teams in the league (for better or worse).  The children are often seen roaming about PU Stadium and know every member of the team by name and number (and sound of their voice).  Devin’s favorite place during games is the Scrivner Skybox, usually leaning dangerously over the rail.

The Bronx-accented Vivienne Scrivner is the co-founder of Wolffe and Scrivner Cosmetics, one of the fastest growing Wizarding-world Health and Beauty companies in Britain.  Between Viv and his half-sister Irma, WandS Cosmetics has gone from door-to-door sales and kitchen-sink creations to a true corporation, now championed from their manufacturing plant in Llanwellyn- in Gwynned, Wales and employing a good many Wizards and Witches.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request:Hufflepuff!  Or Gryffindor, if you must.

Personality:
Devin grew up having adventures with his brother; from as far back as he can remember they’ve always been together.  They learned to crawl, to walk, to run at the same time, egging each other on.  As toddlers, they invented an idioglossia- a private language that was reminiscent of their big sister Irma’s distinct accent.  Only a few remnants of the language remain in their vocabulary, notably ‘do’ meaning ‘yes, we should, or I just did that’ and the occasional elide when they are excited (“Wan’summat?” for “Do you want some of that?”, for example).  Usually only when they want to emulate their older sister do they imitate her accent, and always for effect.

Of the duo, Devin is more likely to leap before he looks, if he looks at all.  He is a both-feet kind of kid, decidedly not talented in the book-smarts and fidgety to boot.  He would rather be up on a rooftop or deep in a cavern or running wild through the woods than in a classroom.  His twin brother is his best friend, and he can’t imagine not being there for him.

Dev has an unparalleled curiosity- he had to be stung by a bee twice to be sure the swelling and nausea was from the bug and not something he’d eaten earlier.  He has suffered more concussions than a human child ever should, usually from jumping out of trees and bonking his melon on every branch on the way down.  That said, he’s likely to shrug it off, smile like a hooligan, and it’s back to the races!

Interesting fact: Devin’s middle name is written on his birth certificate as the symbol Þ, called ‘thorn’ and is an Old English symbol representing the sound ‘th’ as in ‘thing’ and ‘thorn’.

Appearance:
Devin has a mop of blonde hair atop his head, and pale blue eyes.  Aside from a tiny scar on the tip of his nose, he and his brother David are physically identical.  This suits him fine- the two of them have been trading places in classes since they were seven.  There are times when even their mother confuses the two of them!

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Option I:
The dungeons.  A place eleven-year-old Devin had not only explored thoroughly already- he’d started to memorize his way around them.  The entrance to Slytherin Commons.  The Potions Classroom.  The oft-ignored Swimming Pool.  He’d heard from his big sister that there was a whole labyrinth of passageways at Hogwarts besides the ones they always walked.  Not in those words, mind- hers was more fun to listen to.  But he searched.  Alone, tonight- his brother wasn’t up to the challenge… no bother.  One Scrivner on the prowl was enough for Hogwarts tonight.  Probably a little too much, even.

He rounded a bend, just past the portrait of the Cow in a Meadow (What a boring thing to have painted, and what a waste of magic to have animated!! he thought) when he heard a frightened voice.  It was a pink voice, which was simultaneously an insult to girls everywhere and a severe insult to the color pink, which was Irma’s favorite color.  He’d never seen her afraid of anything!

”Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

”Holy cats!” he exclaimed, headed towards the source of the voice, ”I sure hope so!”  A real live ghost?  Now that was an adventure!  Another corner rounded, and there she was (the scared girl, not the ghost) right in the middle of the walkway.

He didn’t bother to slow down.
