Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Jane Prescott

Birthday: January 16, 1946

Hometown: London

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): First Year; Second Year

Biography:
Jane is the youngest of three children in the Prescott family.  Her two older brothers, Lucas and Tristan, were star pupils in their days at Hogwarts and have proven to be successful in their careers after school as well.  However, Jane, sure that she will never be able to live up to her parents high standards, chooses not to follow a straight path, finding herself (often times intentionally) in the center of trouble.  This is frustrating to her parents who, as part of a Pureblood family, expect nothing less than the best from any of their children.  Jane rarely pays attention to schoolwork, spending her time exploring her surroundings, playing pranks on unsuspecting students, and joking around with whichever people she calls her friends that week.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality:
Jane loves school only for the reason that her parents aren’t there to tell her what to do and she has the freedom to do what she wants when she wants.  Unfortunately, this freedom only increases her intense claustrophobia.  She absolutely cannot stand being trapped or enclosed with no way out.  On a good day, Jane is wild, fun-loving, and carefree, searching for any opportunity to get into mischief, but on a bad day, she becomes impossible to deal with, being quick to snap at any person who crosses her in the slightest way.

Appearance:
Jane has bright red hair, wild and fiery just like her personality, and shares the same steely grey eyes as her father.  She’s slightly above average height and as thin as a twig, which overall makes it relatively easy for her to hide herself, and this comes in handy when she’s playing a practical joke on someone.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

Option 1

Jane stared at the murky green water outside the common room window.  Glancing around the common room, she slowly rose from her chair and moved closer to the water, pressing her face up against the cold glass, in hopes it would help her see better.  Jane had overheard a couple of older Slytherins just the day before saying that a friend of a brother’s friend had once claimed that he had seen a rather large squid float right past the window.  Of course, Jane didn’t know if she believed this claim, but it didn’t hurt to check for herself.

“Come on, where are you?” she muttered to herself, her breath fogging up the glass.  In a hurried movement, Jane raised her sleeve to clear the fog, and as her arm crossed the glass, she witnessed a dark figure in the distance dart across her field of vision.  Jane ran to the next window, arriving just in time to see the shadow for another split second, but once again, it had vanished.  The girl raced around the room, every few windows catching another glimpse until she slammed into a solid wall; she had run out of windows to look through.  Making a mad dash to the common room entrance, Jane leapt out the door and skidded into the outer corridor, hardly slowing down to make the turn.  There had to be another window around here somewhere.  She wasn’t about to give up; spotting the squid would be a fantastic story and could skyrocket her to the top of Slytherin fame.

Jane rounded another corner, barely managing to stay on her feet until a noise stopped her dead in her tracks.

“H-hello?” came a small voice from around the next bend in the corridor, sounding horrified and hardly loud enough for Jane to distinguish what they were saying.  Confused, she drew closer to the voice cautiously, unsure of what was causing this student to sound so terrified.  “Hello!  Is Emma Birch here?”

And then it all made sense.  Emma Birch, the non-existent Slytherin ghost who supposedly haunted the dungeons after being killed or something many years ago.  Jane didn’t know the full story, but she did know that this rumor was ridiculous.  But still, some brave souls from other houses would delve into the dungeons in search of her ghost.  Jane smirked slyly to herself, quietly clearing her throat before stating, in her most ghostly manner, “It is I, Emma Birch.”  The young Slytherin forced herself to contain her desire to laugh, imagining how terrified this student must be at her words.  “I wander these halls searching for the one who murdered me.”  Jane paused after each sentence, hoping to hear some scared response from the girl, but not hearing her speak, she pressed on.  “Who are you to disrupt my search for this murderous villain?  You must be punished, far worse than I!”  At this final exclamation, Jane jumped out from around the corner, shouting at the top of her lungs in hopes of scaring the student right out of her skin.  Immediately after, Jane couldn’t help but release her laughter, collapsing to the floor in a fit of giggles before standing once again to face the girl she had been tormenting.

“Fooled you good, didn’t I?” Jane asked, getting out the last of her chuckles.
