Biography: (300 words minimum.)
The important things: Family, Fame, Fortune. Power was pretty high up there on the list too, but he didn’t think he’d ever have power, not with his background and certainly not with his current skill set. But that wouldn’t stop him from trying to get what he wanted…

Family he did have, and it was almost acceptable. Almost. Martin wasn’t thinking about family in that lovely dovey supportive sense, no. He considered family as the blood that tied you together, the names that insinuated importance, and his family at least had that. Surely his surname could provide him with something useful after all those years of torture.

Seriously, people grew up, did they not? They lost their childish tendencies, their disposition to accidents eventually was overcome, and their less than appealing appearance could be rectified as they grew older. But apparently he’d been branded as a goofy looking klutz and failure for life.

Fine, take your other perfect sons; take your feminine and delicate daughter. They meant little to him anyway because they were half the problem growing up. And one wasn’t even spotless…  muggle lover.

Fortune, that was harder to come by but he had always received a small allowance – less than his perfect brothers got of course – and since he had no one to spend it on and nothing to call his own, he’d holed it away in investments and other people’s ideas. A person had to make their own fortune sometimes, just as they had to make their own successful future, and he was doing a good job at both.

Fame, alright that had not happened yet, unless you relied on fame rubbing off of the important people you worked for or the grades you had received in defensive spells class or investigative techniques courses. No matter though, everyone had to start somewhere and everyone had to do whatever it took to become successful and he was determined to do just that.

He’d show them all one day, his perfect brother that was sullying their name by gallivanting around with the less desirables, his father who’d said he would never amount to anything, even his sister who he thought a friend until he hit puberty and she couldn’t help pointing out every problem he had from knobby bones to pimple ridden skin.

Family, what a joke. Blood was all that mattered because at the least you could skip a few generations back to when titles meant something and power was held close, used well and transformed even ugly ducklings into kings. That was one of the reasons he felt such a need to protect it, to protect the society that held blood status high, and lately Wizarding Britain was stepping in the right direction.

It only took a little emergency to get them there.

It was important to Martin that he have a hand in molding the future of society and his grades and interests dictated that he start in the law enforcement end of the situation. He’d always felt a little more powerful knowing that he might be able to track down a criminal and get them off the streets, or protect the important citizens that stood for blood perfection.

It was partly this desire to better his position and to protect certain ideals that urged him on to accept any work that might get him noticed by the Ministry. Sure he felt like a gofer at times, sure he wasn’t always utilizing the skills he’d learned in school or the university afterwards, but the climb to the top didn’t always make sense, and sometimes you had to improvise to find a good foothold before making the next step. He was getting close to one particular man at the top now, Michael Gray and surely being noticed by such an important department head could only mean good things, right?...

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

It was impossible for Dianne to stay out of trouble. It wasn't that she was looking for trouble, it's just that trouble always managed to find her. Today she wished she could find something equally familiar but more comforting.

The five-year old girl hugged her puffskein closer to her and brushed her face in its soft fur for comfort. She had named him herself and he was always her special pet. No she was certain she had never gone down this side street before. Her anxiety increased every second as darkness fell as she walked down the road. A loud noise came to her left and she buried her face in her pet's fur completely. The scared girl bolted the opposite way slamming the both of them into the wall of the nearest building. Tottering back a few steps she found a door a few feet to her right and ran to open it. What light there was inside spilled out into the darkness and she spilled into the room.

Once in, she was caught between the impulse to curl her cloak up more tightly around her and loosen her grip on it. She wasn't alone anymore but she was now among strangers instead, which was nearly as terrifying. Her puffskein had recovered from the shock of the wall and now was purring contentedly as the girl hugged it, causing a mildly calming effect on the girl. Gathering her courage, she marched up to the nearest person, pulled on the nearest clothing hem and blurted out in a loud voice:

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home."

She paused to draw a breath in her nearly never-ending sentence, "He misses my and his mommy."

To explain the scared girl held up the custard-colored puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein, however simply purred as if nothing on earth was wrong in the world.

Roleplay Response:
Martin was looking well, better than normal with even the hint of a smile on his lips. He wasn’t known for smiling and he wasn’t known for overt shows of affection. He was a busy man, with many responsibilities and smiling only used up valuable resources.

Martin wasn’t a grump of course, he hid that fairly well, no on the outside he seemed rather confident and he tried hard to seem pleasant.

He had just so happened to share a look with some lovely female on his way into the shop, and now he couldn’t help but sport a slight upturn. And then his attention was pulled down to the ground.

Two doe eyes, and a booming voice greeted him. ”Now, now, get your grubby little…” Martin looked up then and around the shop for this thing’s owner. You would think dear Martin was in politics the way he tried to do his best to show strength or compassion or whatever flew for gallantry these days, in a public setting.

It wouldn’t do him very well if he told this kid off for touching his suit, not in front of these people. Sure it sickened him to think that this kid might be a muggleborn but then she wasn’t wearing a badge, so maybe she was a pureblood, and him yelling at her would definitely be the wrong path to take.

“Listen, darling, here are some coins… lets go send an owl for your…” owners, no, no that wasn’t right. “Parents. I’m sure they are worried.” Or relieved, as Martin thought might be the case. And as for that ball of fluff? Martin hadn't wanted to acknowledge the girl, he wasn't about to acknowledged its pet...
