Kensington, London, England

Bloodline:
Halfblood

Biography:
Lyra's first memory was of her father holding her up above the crowd at Buckingham Palace to give her a view of the Changing of the Guard. She had felt so happy, so comfortable. Sitting on her father's shoulders, she had an unexplainable sense of bliss and belonging.

Her brother was there too. Her dear brother Sidney! But he was dead now, killed in the war. Lyra was still bitter that he had left her. The two had been inseparable during childhood, yet one war had succeeded in tearing them from each other forever.

Lyra had no one left after the war. First her father died of some strange affliction, and then Sidney left. She had never known her mother, for she had died not long after Lyra was born.

From what Lyra did know though, her mother had been from a good family, not noble, but not middle class either. Her father, Hugh Spencer, had met her mother at a polo match. Lyra's father often told her with a smile, "Then I saw her, your mother, across the field..." His expression became dreamy, and Lyra would laugh, for her father was never usually like this.

On his deathbed, Lyra's father presented to her a beautiful locket, which had been her mother's, and a...well Lyra couldn't tell what it was. It looked like a stick, and a very pretty stick at that.

"Papa, what is this?" she had asked.

"Soon, you will know, but for now you cannot. It must be a secret. Do not show anyone, do you understand? Do you?"

Lyra nodded, gulping. She had never seen her father so passionate.

After that, Lyra and her brother were put into an orphanage. And soon after, Sidney left for the war and never came back. Lyra was heartbroken, her father and brother gone in just a few years.

Yet she had to keep on going. She was soon transferred to a foster home, when she first received that strange letter, a letter asking her to attend...Hogwarts.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:
Ravenclaw
Gryffindor (adding this per PM to me - A.I.)

Personality:
Although a bit shy, Lyra still has a bold side. She is extremely determined in all that she does. She is very proud of a great amount of knowledge that she has amassed through reading and experience.

Lyra always tries to be nice, but sometimes it doesn't really work out. She does not smile often, not because she is unhappy, but because she only smiles when there is reason to and when she is extremely happy. Others say that she is conceited, for she is often silent and and unamused. One of her flaws could be that she is often too serious about everything.

As a child, Lyra was always inquisitive and curious, asking her father about everything she did not understand (Well, nearly everything.)

Appearance:
Lyra is of middling height and quite thin. She has beautiful dark-blond hair, which she chopped short shortly after the news of her brother's death. She has big, amber eyes that are always warm and friendly.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.
Lyra wanted to get some fresh air. She had been working all day on her charms, studying her books and then trying the spells out. It had given her a terrible headache, not to mention that she was exhausted and felt she might pass out any moment.

Pushing past hordes of students, Lyra found her way to the garden, where she collapsed on a stone bench, underneath an arbor. She took a deep breath, inhaling the sweet scent of nectar and flowers. She closed her eyes, but it wasn't long before she was interrupted by a strange noise. It almost sounded like...like a sneeze. Lyra couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Newly awakened, Lyra got up to find the source of the strange noise. "It must have been a hippogriff or something," she thought. "A hippogriff with a serious breathing issue," she muttered under her breath as she walked into a thicket.

Pushing through many shrubs, flowers, and even a few trees, Lyra finally emerged from the thicket, only to find a boy standing there, with snot dripping from his nose. "That boy definitely could have been the source of that sound," she thought and smiled to herself.

Lyra was startled when she heard the sharp voice of the boy, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Looking up, Lyra said, "Oh no. I was't staring. I just heard you making noise, and it sounded...interesting, so I came to see what it was." She paused for a moment and then continued, "Hello. I am Lyra. It's a pleasure to meet you. Do you happen to be...looking for something?"
