CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character name: Marilyn-Rose Wilson

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: In order: Adelaide Parfait, Marilyn-Rose Wilson, Beatrice Caulfield, Zoey Jones (retired), Dorothy Wilson, Eleanor May, Erin Clarke (student).

Character age: 28 (turning 29 in May of 1971)

Character education: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - Hufflepuff - Graduating Class of '59

Strength and weaknesses (details please):

Whilst she has a few weaknesses, the biggest strength that Marilyn has is her compassion. She cares and does so deeply. It is difficult for the blonde to see others in pain or suffering, and she usually tries to cheer them up with cupcakes. Known as the 'strict' captain back in the day, she is able to balance authority with fun when making her team, and now, her class, do their work, and has been entirely inspired by the fun lessons that her own professors raised her on. Learning, for her, ought to be fun.

Unfortunately, Marilyn has a wicked temper. Whilst she normally keeps it under control decently well (aside from one or two broken plates and plant pots), it has escaped her control once before, which resulted in the opposing party ending up with a broken nose. However, she has long since learned how to maintain it, and to 'whisk out' the anger instead. She can be flighty, but when she plants her roots, it is a dedication for life. Marilyn has lots of commitments: to her family, to her friends, and to her love of herbology, and she is hoping to add one more to this list: to her (potential) students.

Physical description:

Marilyn-Rose Wilson was raised on the ideas that looks were everything, with an ex-beauty queen mother whose future was halted by an early, unexpected pregnancy, she didn't exactly have a choice in the matter. The middle child, Marilyn was considered to be less pretty than both her mother and older sister, but that didn't halt the pushing-- she was forced into modelling from her second year, a part-time job that continued alongside, and occasionally overtaking, her studies. Naturally, she was deemed attractive, something boosted by an extra gene that the Alder side seemed to carry.

However, she doesn't model anymore. She quit that a long time ago, though it hasn't impaired her looks, the lack of focus on them allows her to be slightly more dishevelled. She still insists on wearing heels everywhere she goes, though this is no longer a flagrant breaking of dress code, but nowadays, the manicure seems to be ruined by dirt under her nails.

Her smile, is still 1000 watts, and she is still known for it, but she doesn't pose so much for cameras. Instead, she lets her hair get messy, still frizzing up in the humidity of her greenhouse, and be tied up loosely as she works, and her fashionable outfits-- usually transfigured to look half as nice as they are-- typically are either covered by her lab coat, or, when this vital tool is forgotten, end up covered in mud or her homemade compost.

Age has been kind to Marilyn, yes, but she herself has been kinder. Perfection is no longer necessary when the cameras are focused on those younger than herself.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.):

Forced to grow up far earlier than she should, the weight of responsibility has always rested on her shoulders-- modelling to earn money that she sent right back home, and never saw, and constantly working to please a mother living vicariously through her daughter's youth. Marilyn practically raised her younger sister, and now she spends her time healing others and growing her plants. Social and mostly happy, the blonde has a wicked streak-- enjoying pranks and mayhem under the pseudonym of 'heels'-- and a wicked temper, something which seems to be mostly genetic. She is entirely able to take on a 'motherly' or 'older sister' role, and that is the part she has been playing her entire life.

Whilst typically seen as a Hufflepuff through and through, she does have a more manipulative side-- once bribing her Professors with baked goods as a child. Mostly, though, she enjoys bringing baked goods to see the smiles on their faces, mostly.

She tries to constantly see the good in others, which often leads her to bad decisions (typically in love) and Marilyn, despite her heritage, is undeniably human.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?:

There were two professors, during her time at Hogwarts, who had doted on her. They encouraged her to look beyond beauty and into her brains, and Marilyn had, at the time, rebuffed them. She was just a dumb blonde, according to the world, and yet, they still insisted on it. Those two Professors redefined her as a person, encouraged her to follow and investigate the subjects she loved: Herbology and Conjuring/Summoning.

Whilst her fish, fluffy, may be long dead thanks to Dorothy feeding it, her Bubotuber is still surviving and a constant reminder of her potential, the one that they saw in her, and that she wants to live up to.

After the chaos of her time in school, Marilyn wants to help encourage others in the way that she was as a child, and to help people discover that they are smarter than they might assume.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):

Head Girl, Quidditch Captain, D-Squad member.

Marilyn had it all in Hogwarts, and she had the pleasure of only having been poisoned once (a pretty impressive feat considering she was roommates with the poisoner). Almost all. Her personal life was, for a lack of a better word, messy, and her grades had matched that. Those final few years had been tragedy after tragedy: werewolf attack, public humiliation, poisoner, getting dumped, death of a student when she was Head Girl, and supposed to protect everyone.

She had run as far away as she could. Hiding away in the US, only reachable through the covers of magazines was where she had been safe. There was nobody who had known her, her littlest sister would visit semi-regularly, and it had made her mum so happy-- the proudest that Carlotta Wilson had ever been in Marilyn. Of course, she had managed to screw it up, in the way that she had screwed up Hogwarts, and her grades, and her life. Tale tucked between her legs, Marilyn had been forced to return to London and beg an old friend for a job. Thus had began her time in the Pit, which, after a humiliating experience (because, after all, what was new), had shifted to a time in St Mungos as a Welcome Witch.

Greeting people with a smile had been fine, but not the most intellectually challenging thing she had ever done. Still, the money was finally going into her pocket, and more importantly, towards the growing collection of plants that had long since turned her flat into a jungle. She had become a godmother to the single cutest baby that she had ever encountered, had moved into a flat with an old friend who loved plants almost as much as herself, and finally, finally, things were going right.

But, still something was missing. Maybe, it was the lack of challenge in her day-to-day life, the constant repetition of filing paperwork and greeting angry, stressed, or sobbing people at her desk. Paperwork was not helping anyone, and she couldn't help but feel completely powerless. So, it was time for a change.

Now, a Pharmacy Healer-in-training, Marilyn is finally making the change she wants to see in the world. However, it's still not quite the right fit, and, whilst she doesn't want to run away from yet another job, shifting herself into part-time studies seems ideal.

At Hogwarts, she took her two favourite classes all the way through, undeterred, and had thrived. They were her two O's at both OWL and NEWT level, and she had never once failed either. Herbology was something she was still pursuing, through her home, and her greenhouse, and her side-project, but CS had been completely neglected. It was time, it seemed, for her to pick up the mantle of where her favourite teacher had left off.

This was not, in any way, a method of 'reliving her glory days,' as, for the blonde, most of her time in the school had been hellish and chaotic, with a few fun moment dropped in, but rather, at least to her, consciously, a way to help others, to encourage any student who had been insecure in the same way she had; they were good enough, smart enough, brilliant enough, to do anything they put their mind to.

They just have to, much like herself, give it a go.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

Maybe it was the decade since she had walked through these hallowed halls, maybe it was the misdirection from the portraits, maybe it was the fact that she had lost that second earring which made her look oh so professional, it didn't especially matter, because from her brief time watching the stony Headmistress, yearly, at the feast-- saying her name over and over, in those final few years-- Marilyn knew that excuses wouldn't help her, nor would they make her look anymore professional. In fact, she was fairly certain that no god from any pantheon would help her with the presumably icy gaze of the headmistress, who had lorded over Hogwarts for so long.

It meant that she was running; heels hitting the ground with enough weight to break them but enough skill to evade such a tragedy. Left, then right, then back, then forwards. The school, to someone so out of practice, had become a labyrinth, and Marilyn felt like that little first year hugging her platypus teddy in awe at the grandeur of it all once again. Stress repressed the waves of nostalgia threatening to seep over her, as some level of instinct kicked in when it came to avoiding the cracks in-between the stones.

Finally, Marilyn found herself facing the door of the Headmistress-- an office that, fortunately, she had never had to enter before. Well there was a first time for everything. She took a moment, a long slow breath to try and force her body to relax, at least slightly, before she had to face the interview. Fingers quickly raked through her hair in an attempt to regain some of the composure lost by her unexpected workout, before she finally opened the door.

She had expected an icy glare, but Marilyn certainly hadn't expected the frost that seemed to accompany it. The room imposed itself onto her, and the blonde couldn't help but feel oh-so small in relation to the whole space; time honoured artefacts took up space that she definitely did not belong in, and there was Headmistress Ivanova, ruler of all.

The portraits were judging her, but that was nothing new to the blonde-- raised under the watchful (and gossipy) eyes of portraits-- what was more worrying, were the words that slipped through her Headmistress's lips. They hung, tense, in the air for a moment, as Marilyn lost her tongue under the gaze.

"Yes." She replied, eventually, certainly. It took another breath before she realised that the statement was probably a request for explanation, "Well, so, basically, I didn't realise that the fourth floor stairs took you to the left wing of the castle, and it meant I had to do a full lap to get here," and the earring, and portraits hadn't helped either. She had intended to arrive early, but that hadn't worked out, evidently.

Taking a moment to breathe, the blonde looked up.

"Sorry, I'm slightly out of breath," whether it was from the intensity of the situation, or from the running, she wasn't quite sure.

Biography:
Born in Wollongong, Australia, Zoey was raised in a loving family. The only daughter of the Jones family grew up by the ocean. From a young age, Zoey was taught to surf by her older brother. She loved surfing, and the water, especially the water, the ocean was perfect for her. She adored the water, as it helped her to feel free. She loved swimming, and surfing, and snorkelling. Any water sport was her domain, she excelled at them, having been swimming for years.

Living in a four bedroom home, Zoey always had the space she needed, the space to express herself. Her bedroom was her haven, in the attic, almost, it was a huge space for her to relax- and yell at her brother for being loud. She loved her family, more than life itself. They were always there for her, and she was always there for them.

Every year, the Jones family visit a major country where there is a Wizarding school, it started with Japan, and then America, and then England. Multiple times, to England, it was something about that place, they all just loved it. Diagon Alley was wonderful, and so unique, not to mention the funny- cold- British weather. And the accents! It was their favourite place to visit.

They loved it.

Roleplay:

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

Visiting England. It was the Jones Family’s favourite thing to do, England was wonderful, and it was just so… so… so… so quaint. It was just incredible, and gorgeous, and wet. Yes, it was very very wet. Why was it always raining in England? Was it like a British thing? Did nobody care? It seemed like they were all just so used to the rain, it didn’t bother them; they didn’t even all have umbrella’s, in British weather! It was absolutely insane.

She was dumped in the park, on the one day that it was sunny, which was probably a good thing, the sun wasn’t like Australia, it was more chilly, and the sky was clear, not a cloud in sight- like Australia. And above her, three broomsticks were flying- okay, so maybe she didn’t like flying. Broomsticks were cool, they definitely were, but they just weren’t as good as snorkelling. But, if it was all England had to offer- and she’d been in the North Sea, that was like ice- and it was all that England had to offer, it was good.

She was people watching, it was like they were in a zoo, it was very interesting. Constantly interesting, they were nothing like Australian people. She wanted to know how they acted. Zoey Jones was constantly interested in people. She’d heard that there was a summer camp for witches and wizards here in  England, and would definitely be visiting it.

There was a small girl, who was dragging her broomstick behind her. The girl had attempted to ride it, given up, and had dumped her nice little safety broom into the turf, and was now staring at her. The little girl had her arms folded, and was yelling at her.

“Eh?” Asked the blonde, as she looked at the little girl in surprise. “Sure. What games do ya like?”

She’d be glad to help the little munchkin, happy to help her have some fun. Plus, she seemed funny, and funny was good. And what games did British people play?

Early Life

Marilyn-Rose Wilson was born to the Wilson family, on April 15th, her family already consisted of Carolyn, her older sister- who was four at the time. The Wilson family run a cafe, and second hand bookshop, they make their own pastries and use their own coffee recipe.

During the first few years of her life, Marilyn grew up, sharing a room with her sister. The family had a three-bedroom house, but the third bedroom was a study, and the girls room was big enough to share the two of them. Marilyn and her sister got on famously, Carolyn liked to look after her sister, using Marilyn as her personal doll.

Then, when Marilyn-Rose was six, her younger sister, Dorothy, was born. This changed everything about her life, Marilyn and Carolyn both lost a lot of their freedom, as they looked after their little sister. They also lost a lot of their toys, and their mother became more and more tired. Eventually, the two girls started to work in the café, waitressing, or being baristas. Or, they would babysit Dorothy.

Accidental Magic

The first signs that she was a witch happened before Dorothy was born, when Marilyn was three. The family often visited the seafront, and Marilyn and Carolyn would play together in the surf, not too deep, though, as the sea could be very rough. However, their parents would be happy with the two girls wading in the water. If she really concentrated, Marilyn could make starfish appear at her feet.
At the age of nine, Marilyn was capable of making rare species of crabs and starfish gather around her.

Pre-Hogwarts

After Dorothy’s birth, Marilyn became more and more unnoticed, being the middle child. She didn’t seem to share Dorothy’s angelic looks, or Carolyn’s goddess like appearance. Her accidental magic was the only thing that really stood her out, well, that and her ability to make the most incredible coffee.
Up until she got her Hogwarts letter, Marilyn kept her accidental magic to herself, knowing that nobody would believe her. The Wilson’s were incredibly amazed to find out their daughter was a witch.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

How had she ended up in the greenhouse? This school was so huge, and complicated! She wasn’t complaining, though, she liked the greenhouses, they were peaceful, and full of such beautiful flowers!
She frowned as she heard the sound of stomping, but it came from the... flowerbeds?
Marilyn-Rose decided to follow the path of bent flowers, she pulled herself up on the planter, and walked over the bent flowers, as she looked at the person causing the damage- it was a boy, who was clearly older than her. She heard him yell, “You blasted rat! Where are you?”
So, he was looking for his pet, she could help him! The young girl started to look for a small rat, not very well, but hey, at least she was trying!
She watched as the boy pulled over a section of vibrant red flowers, the boy let out a loud sneeze. It was so loud, almost echoed around the greenhouse. She instantly felt worried about the older boy, whether or not he was well. She watched, smiling, as he stood up again, and he wiped his nose on his robe sleeve.
The boy looked surprised to see Marilyn, and looked slightly embarrassed, before he pulled himself up. “Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Marilyn was sad to be caught watching the boy. “I’m sorry.” She said, quietly, as she blushed. “I was wondering if you needed some help? I’m good with plants, and with animals. You don’t have to push the flowers down like that…” She was waffling on, and she knew it. Her cheeks had turned bright red.
