I would like to be considered for either an elective class, Medicinal Magic, or for the position of the school nurse.  I have lesson plans for Med. Magic but not sure what you'd want or need in terms of lesson plans for the school nurse.  Thank you guys for your consideration!

Character name: Marnie Rose Ennes

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: Aislynn Periwinkle, Josiah Shepherd, Savaii Thompson

Character age: 29 (D.O.B. 11 December 1942)

Character education: Marnie graduated from Hogwarts in the spring of 1962, despite taking a year off to try and track down her father’s killer.  She graduated one year late but went on to magical university, studying healing and medicine.  She became a junior healer after two years of school, later finishing her internship and becoming a full healer by the age of 24, focusing on psychological spell damage and other mind issues (though she is still fairly knowledgeable about physical ailments as well, having studied healing for a few years before specializing in psychological ailments).

Strength and weaknesses: After the death of her father, she couldn’t help but toughen up.  She had to let things slide right off her back for awhile.  She has a lot of persistence and doesn’t give up easily- which explains how she was able to keep up a fruitless search for her father’s murderer for almost a year.  Marnie does not take things too personally when someone hurls an insult at her- having to deal with patients with altered mental statuses, it was necessary to develop this trait.

Just as she has strengths, she has a fair number of weaknesses as well.  At times, she wears her heart plainly on her sleeve, letting her feelings show prominently.  While she can deal with insults and name-calling by her patients, when it comes from a loved one, it is a different story.  She is quite the opposite and takes things way too personally to the point that it affects her everyday life.  Marnie also doesn’t always have enough patience, despite her patient population and the prospect of dealing with children.

Magically, her strengths lie in charms work.  Charms are very handy for her work as a healer- she sometimes has to do memory modification charms and other therapeutic charms.  Her magical weakness is in conjuring/summoning.  She has never enjoyed that particular subject nor been very skilled at it.  Fortunately, it is not entirely necessary to perform her job as a Healer.

Physical description: Deep red hair and bright, vivid blue eyes are Marnie’s key features.  Her heart-shaped face is often decorated with a smile, showing slightly crooked teeth.  Her button-nose has a sprinkling of freckles across it.  She stands about five feet and seven inches tall with an average, healthy frame.  She has no major scars or markings.  Often she wears brightly colored robes, her favorite color to wear being pink which often clashes horribly with her hair.  Her mid-back length hair is most often in a ponytail or French braid to keep it out of her eyes.  Occasionally, she sports thin silver glasses.

Personality: First and foremost, she is a quiet and very self-contained creature.  She does not display extremes of emotions in public, though she has been known to let loose in private.  While it may not look like it on the outside, she feels plenty of emotion.  She cares very deeply for people, especially her patients.  She loves being able to help and to teach.  A peaceful person with a calming demeanor, she makes a great healer for her ability to soothe family and patients alike.  A rather bad sense of humor is noticeable when she tries to make her patients laugh with horribly corny jokes.

Marnie can be something of a risk taker at times too.  She did, after all, seek out to kill her father’s murderer at the tender age of fourteen.  A little foolish when her adventurous side gets the best of her, she tries to avoid such exciting things nowadays.  Some may find her downright boring but those that know her really well could tell anyone what a calm and level-headed person she is.  In the end, the most important thing about Marnie’s personality is her ability to handle a great deal of stress with sensitivity and a clear, sharp mind.

Hopes and dreams: Marnie’s ultimate dream in life is to get married and have children.  She hopes to have several children as she grew up in a family of four children.  She is on her way to that dream since she is currently engaged to her long-time boyfriend.  She also hopes to pass on some of her knowledge to the children of Hogwarts.  She loved being at Hogwarts so much that she desires to return and teach classes.  She also dreams of one day discovering cures and effective treatments for the many ailments her patients suffer from.  While at Hogwarts as a professor, she plans to commute to St. Mungo’s on the weekends to continue seeing and treating patients.  She will be quite busy trying to live both dreams- a Hogwarts professor and a top Healer at St. Mungo’s.

Biography: There is not much that is extraordinary about Marnie Rose Ennes.  She was born to a family that was quite poor. She was the fourth child born and also the baby. Her father, Albert Paul Ennes, was a pureblood from a long line of pureblooded wizards. Her mother, Sasha Lillian Ennes (nee Zane), was a half muggle, half witch. Both had amazing magical abilities and passed this on to only two of their children. The eldest two of Marnie's siblings turned out to be squibs, with not an ounce of magical ability.  Caroline Margaret Ennes and Theodore Elijah Ennes would go on to live muggle lives due to their lack of magic.  The third child, Alaina Jeanne Ennes, produced great magical promise. This delighted her parents as they had feared all their children would be squibs. Marnie's sister was eventually offered full tuition to Beauxbatons Academy.

Marnie began to show her magical abilities young. If she became angry, her parents could expect a minor flood or otherwise broken objects scattered around the house.  Once she became angry enough that bursts of paint appeared over all the furniture.  It took her mother an hour to charm it all off.  Luckily, she rarely became angry. She was usually a peaceful child.  Luckily for the young witch, she received a letter promising her entry to Hogwarts at the age of eleven and she was delighted.  She would have been thrilled to go anywhere but Hogwarts was the best school around.  Tuition might be a little trouble but her parents were able to work things out in the end with some financial rearrangements.

The first year at Hogwarts was pretty uneventful.  Nothing spectacular happened and she passed all of her classes.  Her second year was full of excitement though!  She entered the Tri-Wizard Tournament held at the school in 1955/1956 and was accepted to be one of the school champions.  She made it through the first round of competition which was a spectacular feat considering she was the youngest in the competition.  She failed in the second round, however, and did not advance beyond that.  Still, she was proud of what she accomplished at such a young age.

When Marnie was in her third year, she received news that her father had been murdered somewhere in Russia while on the job.  There was a small clue as to who may have killed him, a man named Viktor Vasilijev, a distant relation of the Politics of Magic professor at the time.  In an attempt to avenge her father’s death, she set out to try and kill this man in what would have been her fourth year of schooling.  She did not succeed in finding this man, instead choosing to remain passive as her father would have wished.  She returned to school in 1958 to complete her fourth year of schooling.  Her fifth through seventh years were uneventful and relaxed.  While she continued to mourn her father’s passing, she chose to live as she felt he would have wished her to live.

In her fifth year she earned eight O.W.L.s and when she graduated, she earned N.E.W.T.s in five subjects.  She proceeded to magical university to study healing and medicine.  After two years of study, she became a junior healer and two years after that she was promoted to a full healer, focusing on psychological spell damage and other mental catastrophes.

For the last few years, Marnie has been working at St. Mungo’s on the long-term damage ward, working with residents who suffered various afflictions resulting in severe psychological damage.  While she enjoys her work, she felt a longing for something more.  She wanted to return to her first home of Hogwarts and pass on what she’d learned.  So much had happened in her short life, she felt sure that she could offer some younger generations a bit of knowledge and truth that would surely help them in life.

Marnie hopes to become married and have a couple children one day.  On her way to that dream, she is engaged to her long-term boyfriend.  They had been dating for four years when he proposed.  She quickly accepted and they are planning their wedding for December.  Jason Caldera, her fiancé, is two years her elder.  He is quite a romantic fellow and deeply loves Marnie.  Things have not always been rosy, they’ve had their arguments, but they seem to be truly compatible.  They met while in university.  She was studying healing and he was studying politics- he now works at the Ministry of Magic.  They were friends for awhile first before they began dating and their relationship is likely better for that.  Marnie hopes to have a snow-themed wedding and invite everyone who wants to come.  She hopes to be surrounded by people she knows and loves when she gets married.

Roleplaying (Please respond to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

The Headmaster of Hogwarts was typically a firm, but reasonable man in most regards. His years as an educator had taught him no small amount of tolerance and patience in dealing with the turbulent teenage years of the most hot-headed, rebellious witch or wizard to grace the castle halls. He was quite scholarly and knowledgeable, albeit a bit eccentric on surface appearances, and his laid back manner usually had an effect on even the most savage beast err student. In fact, for all intents and purposes, he was the voice of reason in a sea of calamity.

Except in one very particular regard.

Today was the day he was scheduled to hold conference with the new professor who had just been hired. Normally, such trivial things like appointments didn't hold much sway over his daily activities as he marched to his own drummer - sometimes literally when the house elves were feeling musically inclined. However, nothing delighted him more than to engage in conversation with a fellow educator, espousing the virtues of their shared profession along with the rewards of learning in general. And in preparation for a most delightful chat, the tea tray had been polished to glistening radiance while a separate pot of his own beloved kaffe was set off to the side.

To top things off, as no detail was left unattended thanks to his ever faithful caretakers, all sorts of tasty treats had been arranged to curb the hunger of even the most finicky of faculty members. The centerpiece to all of this was a bowl of scrumptious, salty licorice treats to which the Norseman had been looking forward all throughout the morning.

Alas, as luck would have it, just before the start of the meeting Einar had been called away from the office due to reports of excessive owl droppings being sighted in the corridors. It had been a dreadful mess to square away, causing his return to be delayed. Yet upon his arrival, he stepped into the room with a smile to offer his greetings and apologies when suddenly it caught his notice that things were entirely amiss upon his desk. Someone had started the festivities without him!

His glance straying back and forth between the empty bowl and his new employee, a dark scowl is visible on his features as he asks, "First, it was McStingy and now this! What in the name of Odin happened to my lakrits?"”

By the expression on his features, it is quite clear who he suspects to be the culprit of this dastardly crime. After all, who doesn't like salty licorice?

So how exactly does one handle an irate Headmaster?

Roleplaying Response:

Excited was one word to describe Marnie Ennes that day.  Another was happy, elated.  She was newly hired to teach medicinal magic- she was finally going to pass her knowledge on to young, impressionable minds.  It felt so nice to have the opportunity to enrich the young minds of her own school.  It had been one of her first homes- a place where she felt like she belonged.  She made many lifelong friends there and had experiences she could never forget.  Such as competing in the Tri-Wizard tournament.  The youngest in the competition, she could remember sitting in this very office when she was told the contract was magically binding- she had no choice but to compete.

And that news was delivered by the same man she was about to have a meeting with.  It had been years since she’d seen her old headmaster and now she was returning to be part of his staff.  It felt so weird and surreal.  As she seated herself in his office, she noticed the display of treats.  Smiling she helped herself to one of those salty licorice things.  It was oddly delicious.  Before she knew it, the woman had finished off the entire bowl.  Looking around, she hoped the man wouldn’t notice but as he walked in, he immediately began yelling about them.  Greeeat.

She looked up at him and smiled sweetly.  “Now, now Professor Olafsson.”  She said, scolding the man a little.  “It was just licorice.  I can get you some more.  It was delicious.”  Marnie looked at the man, towering over the scene, angry about his candy.  She had to repress a giggle as she saw him acting more childish, considering he was throwing a fit over some candy.  He was a grown man who dealt with children all day, surely he could control himself when it came to a bit of missing candy.  But apparently not.

“I do apologize headmaster.  Where is my office located?  I think I should go and set it up.”  Marnie said, trying to sound nonchalant.  She suddenly desired to flee the scene, seeing how upset the man was.  She had no idea if her previous relationship with him would be any help to her case.  It could possibly hurt her since he might feel he knew her better than other professors.  She looked up at the formidable man, smiled and tried to look as innocent as possible.
