THE BASICS
Name: Parker Rose Douglas

Former Character's Name (if you had one): Taryn Sky

CHARACTER DETAILS
House Request:
Honestly, I think that Parker could fit in all of the houses except for Slytherin. She is intelligent, when she actually makes it to class and does her homework, and enjoys learning, as long as it's not boring. She is optimistic, sometimes stupidly so, which sometimes makes her appear as brave when going into dangerous situation. Parker also tries to be very loyal and kind to her friends, but sometimes she does or says things without thinking. Sorry, this is going to be a hard one to sort!

Year:
4th, 5th

Bloodline:
Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination- Parker has the special power of being able to transport into others' dreams, so it makes sense that Divination would be her best subject.

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Charms- Parker is extremely forgetful and absentminded, so memorizing spells is not easy for her.

Biography:
Father: Michael Douglass
Mother: Tatiana Douglass

Born in Salt Lake City to two extremely religious Catholic parents, Parker was supposed to be the perfect daughter. Biblical learning was as important as schoolwork, Latin tutoring started at age 5, and skipping church, even once or twice, was not an option. Evolution? What a load of crap. Prayers were second nature to the girl. Discipline was strong in the Douglass household, and Parker, with her clumsiness and forgetfulness, did not enjoy it. She was not the daughter that her parents had wanted, and they were not afraid to admit that to Parker. Overall, it was not a normal or loving household. When Parker was finally old enough to understand the teachings of her religion, she bought none of it, but never mentioned this to her parents.

School was her only solace. Although Parker was glad to be away from her parents for a whole eight hours, there was something better about going to school. Chelsea. Chelsea O'Leary was Parker's best, and only, friend. They were an unlikely pair for sure. Chelsea was popular, confident, beautiful, and well, perfect. Parker, was not. And yet, the two girls got along great. While Parker would hurriedly try to find her math book for her homework, Chelsea would finish it in seconds and then go to pick out her friend's outfit for the next day. Chelsea didn't care about the social food chain at their Utah high school. She would hang out with the cheerleaders and then drive down to Parker's house for a  movie marathon. Parker was never close to the perfect daughter that her parents wanted, but at least in Chelsea's eyes, she was a great person.

When Parker was 11, her powers started to show. In the beginning, it was just small things that could be easily ignored, but then a more unusual power started to show itself. Parker could transport herself into other people's dreams, unintentionally. It first started when she got transported into her mother's dream one November night. The dream was disturbing, to say the least, and the girl had no idea what was going on. After that, the dreamwalking happened constantly, something that she had no control over, and Parker barely got any sleep. When her parents finally noticed their daughter's sickness, they didn't do a thing. Even when Parker started to faint out of her own exhaustion, they did nothing, not believing in the use of medicine. Parker had no idea what was going on in her mind, but still didn't tell her parents until she was 13. By that time, she had begun to get used to her sleep deprivation, but even more unusual things started to happen. Parker finally worked up the guts to tell her parents, and told them about all of the weird things that she could do. Bad idea.

The parents knew immediately what was going on. They believed that their daughter was the victim of some kind of demonic possession, and that they needed to follow the steps to remove the demon from Parker.  It was at this time that Parker realized her parents were absolutely insane.

After their neighbors heard screaming coming from the Douglass house, they called the police and rushed inside. There, they found the Michael and Tatiana talking, or chanting rather, and their very terrified daughter tied to a chair and with a huge gash on her upper arm. The ambulance rushed her to a hospital, while the parents were shoved into the police car. A nearby wizard heard about Parker's story, and decided to help her. This man was Julian Emerson, and he took Parker in, teaching her all that she needed to know about magic. When he felt that she was ready to attend wizarding school, he somehow managed to get Parker accepted to Hogwarts, his own alma-mater, although they still lived in Utah. She was not at all pleased to attend Hogwarts, or any boarding school for that matter, in fear of all of the dreamwalking that would happen. Regardless, Julian sent her to England and put her aboard the Hogwarts Express, determined to give this girl a better life.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Personality:
Because she is constantly being sucked into people's dreams, Parker is always tired, and when she actually does manage to get some sleep, she sleeps for huge periods of time, sometimes skipping classes or meals. She is also extremely clumsy and absentminded, and coupled with her sleep deprivation, this makes her constantly late, running into things, and forgetful of essentials. She realizes this, and accordingly, does not take herself very seriously. Surprisingly, Parker is rather intelligent, when she actually manages to get to class and do her homework. She really enjoys school, but has trouble focusing if she is in a boring class.

Parker has never had many friends because of her awkwardness, but she is actually pretty funny, in the extremely sarcastic way. She often says rude things to others and, though unintentional, this is also a reason that she doesn't have very many friends. She tries very hard to remain loyal and supportive to the few friends that she might have, but she often speaks before thinking first. Generally, Parker has good intentions, but doesn't really have a filter.

Parker is NOT good at sports. At all. You know that really clumsy kid that can't even kick the ball and everyone groans when they are put on their team? Yup, that's Parker. Even if she gets made fun of for it, she will most likely just laugh it off. Parker has no problem around boys, because romance is not on her list of priorities. She does not follow her family's extreme religiousness anymore, but she still finds herself reciting prayers without thinking, no matter how much she wishes to stop. Some habits are just too hard to break.

Although her disturbing past still gets to Parker sometimes, for the most part, she doesn't think about her family much. She is still very self-conscious about her powers, and wishes that she could just be normal. When situations get awkward or silent, Parker tends to fill the time with meaningless chatter. She loves to talk. The girl doesn't like to think about serious matters, and will start to crack jokes when situations get too intense. Because of this, she tries to be very optimistic, and doesn't pay attention to all of the bad things that could happen in a situation. For the most part, Parker tries to remain carefree and joking, but sometimes, no matter how much she tries, those serious matters and family issues slip into her mind.

Appearance:
Parker could have been an extremely pretty girl, if she just had the energy. She often gets dressed in a hurry and barely has any time to care about how she looks. Most of the time, her wavy brown hair is pulled back in a messy ponytail, and she rarely wears any make up. Parker has a very thin figure, because she usually forgets to eat meals, but she is not sickly. Her brown eyes constantly have bags under them, but her smile can light up a room. She is average height, maybe a bit tall at 5 foot 8, but has long and lanky arms and legs.

Parker's fashion sense is almost nonexistent. Usually, she just looks to see what others are wearing or simply throws on jeans and a t-shirt. Because of her extreme clumsiness, heels are not an option for her. Sneakers are her best friends. Her entire shoe collection consists  of converse or vans, and she doodles with sharpie on the white spaces. When she is absolutely forced to dress up, Parker does clean up very nicely, but not without the guidance of her old friend, Chelsea, from back home.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY

Option I:

Blimey, the Great Hall was packed. It seemed like everywhere a guy looked there was some clown waving around a House banner or yelling about the game.

'Can you believe it?' 'No way!' 'This must be the biggest upset in Hogwarts Quidditch history...'

Stupid Quidditch.

James flopped into an empty seat at the end of the table, shoved an empty plate out of the way, and let his head sink onto his crossed arms, squishing his freckled nose down flat against the tabletop. He wasn't sure why he'd even bothered to come here, since he definitely wasn't hungry. He'd probably never eat again, in fact. He didn'tdeserve to eat. He hadn't stopped in the locker room to change out of his muddy, sweaty uniform after the game either, because he was pretty sure he probably didn't deserve to be clean too; and anyway he couldn't stand to see the looks on his team mates' faces after he blew their chance at winning one of the biggest games they had ever played.

Just one lousy shot. That's all it would have taken. If he could have just got that one stupid foul shot to go through that one stupid hoop, they could have won and he wouldn't have been the biggest blockhead in the entire school.

As if to prove the point, half the people at the next table suddenly broke into a loud victory chant. James pressed his face further into his arms to hide the bright red blotches he could feel creeping up his cheeks. That was it. He was just going to have to run away and move to Nova Scotia. He'd just cost the three-year-in-a-row Champions the Quidditch Cup! How do you ever live that one down for crying out loud? He was only a second year and he was going to spend the rest of his life as 'that dumb cry-baby kid who dropped the Quaffle!'

It felt like every set of eyes in the room was boring into him, and James couldn't stand it anymore. He jerked himself back up from the table and stomped right back out of the Hall the same way he had come in. As he stormed into the quieter hallway outside, he could hear footsteps somewhere behind him. James rounded on the sound and began to shout, his brown eyes shining with tears. "WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

Sample Roleplay Response:
Parker was lost. Hopelessly, hopelessly lost.

Today had been a long day. She had barely gotten any sleep the night before, constantly going from one person's dream to another. Parker hoped that she would learn to control her powers soon, or else she wouldn't be able to handle these days of school. She had already bumped into every statue in the castle, it seemed like, and now all she wanted was some dinner. But she couldn't even do that.

Where did they say the great hall was again? The girl racked her brain trying to remember, but eventually she became discouraged. Parker was simply roaming the hallways, hoping to find someone who could at least point her in the right direction.

She finally saw a boy up ahead, and ran up the corridor to talk to him. "Excuse me," she yelled, trying to catch his attention. She ran up beside him and spoke breathlessly, "Hi! Do you have any idea where the great hall is. You see, I'm lost. Really, really, really lost. I just came down from the common room, but then the stairs changed again and-". She was rambling. The boy turned around, finally seeing her.

"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

Well, that was nice. Parker stared at the boy, seeing the tears in his eyes and defeated posture. "Well, it's nice to meet you too," she replied sarcasticly, but with a smile and a laugh. "Hey, what's wrong? I'm sure it's not that bad." Then the girl recognized his face. "Oh, wait, you're that guy who dropped the Quaffle? I'm sure your house is really mad at you now, right? Yeah, that was pretty bad..." As soon as the words came out, Parker wished she hadn's said them. "Wow, I'm sorry! That came out really mean! Come on, it's just one game. Plus, you did better than I ever could. I can't fly on a broom to save my life." As if expressing her point, the girl stumbled a bit over her own feet, and reached for the wall to steady her. "See?" she laughed awkwardly.

The boy looked really upset though, so Parker decided to just leave him alone. "All right, I'll just go. I know you're upset, so I'll leave you alone." Parker walked away, not remembering that she was supposed to ask for directions until it was already too late.
