Strength and weaknesses (details please):
If you were to ask Elsie directly, she would say her looks were her best strength while her only weakness was cigarettes.

The more accurate answer would be her best strength is her simple and honest love of life itself, and through extension, everything else. With a confident and optimistic nature, she never wavers in her abilities and strives to lead through respect and kindness rather than fear. A childish passion to find joy and spread it gives her an excited air to help, which led her back to the school she'd graduated from. Having graduated only a few years ago, Elsie is very relatable as well. She remembers acutely what it is like to be in school, balancing friends, classes, extra-curriculars, and being worried about the future. She strives to not be seen as some old and stuffy Professor who is too concerned about their own class to encourage excellence in all, but a Professor wants them to enjoy their time at Hogwarts as much as they enjoy learning in her classroom. Elsie has little doubt she will achieve such, as she has a very determined mind, and when set on a path she pushes towards it relentlessly. It can both be a strength and a weaknesses depending on the goal, as it can make her driven or annoying depending on the context.

Annoying in her persistence is not the only fault she has, much to Elsie’s dismay. Her wandering soul has the unfortunate side-effect of a childish mentality, equaling an occasionally scatter-brained woman than can be more whimsical than is healthy. Not to mention, when one is so determined to live in the moment, one does not have the patience for things that take longer. She acts quickly, and is ready to face the consequences only half the time, but does not have the diligence to think a lot of things thoroughly. When consequences do turn for the worst, Elsie has a habit to ignore it or deal with it too lightly in an effort to make things more pleasant. These poor skills lead to only more trouble, but Elsie struggles to stay serious enough to be chastised.

Physical description: Elsie is a slightly-taller-than-average woman, willowy in frame. With white-blonde hair that changes in length depending on her mood, and ice blue eyes, she is a pale image to behold. Delicate is too fragile, and beautiful is too assumptive. She is somewhere in between that results in an easy smile and wild laugh. Her expression is generally excited and open, willing to stop and talk to almost anyone who will listen. One to wear flow-y dresses, with questionable accessories, and the occasionally feathery hair clip, Elsie has a style completely of her own. It is quite like she is, wild and free.

Personality: Elsie is a wanderer. She is a free spirit, and a carefree child. Full of joy and hope, Elsie enjoys life to its fullest extent - willing to travel and endure to the ends of the earth to find it. It is hard to anger her, though when it does occur, it is as wild as her happiness, swift and powerful. This young woman is an easy friend to make and keep, where she is bitterly loyal to those who earn it. Some may remember her as the Gryffindor girl constantly running through the halls, and sneaking out after hours. The one to as quickly help a friend with homework as to spontaneously set it on fire, or be notoriously good at avoiding their Prefect when skipping class. Although on the surface she may seem like a questionable adult to trust with the education of children, Elsie is a tender soul at heart and only wants to give all that Hogwarts had bestowed to her.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?: Elsie spent most of her formative years in the halls of Hogwarts and she does not forget everything that the school had given her. While it gave her many things she never thought of again, like politics, and history lessons, it gave her a passion for learning and exploring, and many useful Charms. It showed her every extent of happiness, and sadness, while keeping her safe in the arms of Housemates that were like family. Memories of a lifetime, and professors she connected with like parents. When at a cross-roads in life where she works at a dreary job at St. Mungo’s, and is a fairly useless writer for the Prophet, it seemed only natural for Elsie to flock back to the place she knew so well. To her it seems like a wonderful chance to learn some more, and pass on her knowledge to the younger crowd - maybe even help some of them find the future a little less scary. It is like coming Home, but to now to babysit the kids instead of being babysat yourself.

Biography:

Elsie Märchen was brought into the world on an average day, at a time that was not too special, to a normal French family. Mostly normal, anyways. As normal as a family could be with parents who could make dishes wash themselves and carried wands as easily as car keys. Her parents were in love, and Elsie was the sole product of their union, which was normal enough.

She was raised well-off, never worrying about necessities, but Alicia was determined not to spoil her. Elsie was taken to Soup Kitchens, and hospitals, and libraries to help in any way she could, where she had first felt the fulfilment of helping others. Alicia was a shining star in those places, bringing joy, and giving smiles to all who saw her. Elsie wanted to do something as fulfilling with her life, and made it a long-term mission (one she is still figuring out to this day).

Piano was her next passion, finding comfort in the keyboard when she didn't want to speak, and the fire of competition when she sat in the spotlight. Music gave her life that something else - brighter colours, sharper contrast, a melody to hum anytime she felt down. She pounded at the keys as long as she could remember, but her formal teaching began at six - as formal as a teacher could be with a six year old. Piano, for Elsie, is a steady constant that she reminds herself of every-time she is close enough to one.

She was privately schooled until her formal magical education began, like in most places, at age 11. It was a confusing year, with grandparents disappearing and cousins suddenly non-existent. Their house was suddenly different and her parents were different but no one would tell her why Granny was not just dead but simply ... not there. Elsie learned it was easier to not ask questions sometimes.

Going from Beauxbatons to Hogwarts when her family re-located was difficult at best, and devastating at its worst. Although she loved Hogwarts - Elsie would love any school that allowed her to perform magic - she had lost a lot moving. Her native language, her friends, her school, her wand was snapped on the journey. Elsie had spent so much time moping though, she had missed the opportunities right in front of her. It was then she had promised not to dwell on the dreary. She hasn't looked back since.

Hogwarts was a time of school (mainly Charms), parties, boys, smoking, and trying to figure out what to do for the rest of her life. None of it was easy, or went quite smoothly, but Elsie graduated with decent marks and wanderlust in her heart.

She disappeared for two years, only her parents knowing exactly where she was, and travelled as far as she could. Elsie wasn't sure what she expected to find out there, and now isn't sure if she found it, but she loved the journey nonetheless. Boring stops turned into rich conversations, and dead-ends turned into new friends laughing over a map that was pointing West.

Time for the real world was now though. Elsie held down a job at St. Mungo's, and was hired for the Prophet (though she mainly writes articles to be squished into spare space at the very back), but found nothing could be gotten out of them. There was little result, and little motivation to grow.

So here she is.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.

In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:

Elsie rarely ran anywhere. Running was a stuffy, uncomfortable, sweaty process that was only warranted when someone was hurt or someone was trying to hurt her. Actually, even then Elsie would rather use a spell than run somewhere. She was a witch, for the Love of Merlin. Running was absolutely out of the question.

Perhaps in this case, Elsie would have ran though. The clock was ticking, and her meeting time came ... and went. Yet, Elsie continued her easy walk through the old corridors of her youth. It felt like the day she graduated and walked these halls, empty and old without life to drum warmth into their stone. Elsie had thought she would never see them again, yet here she was, running her hand along the wall, collecting dust on her palm. She had come with a lot of time to spare (by her guess), and Elsie knew the way to the Professor's office quite well, she thought there was no way she could have been late.

The Professor's office opened in front of her, wide and elaborate. Neat as the Professor herself, cold when she looked to the door that had opened. If Elsie had seen her first, she would have been more concerned, but Elsie barely looked at the woman when she scanned the office. For all the years she'd spent in this castle, she had never seen the inside of the Headmistress' office and this was a great chance. It was boring and stuffy. Nothing of the rumours she'd heard of fairies flying around the rafters, and a dragon for a desk. How disappointing.

"You are late." The voice surprised her, and Elsie moved her blue eyes from the corners where she was scanning for naggleworms, to the Professor.
"Hello, Headmistress, long time no see," she hummed happily, glancing behind the woman to peer at the time. "Holy Merlin, I am." Elsie blinked in her surprise, digesting this new information. How does one over-come being late for your first interview with a Headmistress who likely only remembered how many points you lost for your house?

"My apologies, I am not generally late. I promise this is not a habit," she offered solemnly, "It was never a habit during school - well for Charms at least - and that is what I hope to teach." Elsie's serious expression dissolved in an excited grin, and she took a step forward.

Biography:

How does one tell an ordinary story in an extraordinary way? With magic of course.

It all began in a home in the centre of Wizarding France, where a rich magical environment and a loving family was raising a small child. The only child of their union, Fredrick and Alicia raised Elsie to live, love, and laugh until she cried - as they believed in. They doted on her as much as a busy family could, bringing home presents from trips, and candies from the bakery down the street. Careful not to spoil her, Elise also was to help her mother at the Soup Kitchen for the poor, and read stories to the younger kids at the library.

Muggles, they were called, like Mother. Alicia loved doing all of that, and was a frequent visitor in old-age homes with flowers, and hospitals with cards. She brought so much joy through her small acts, Elsie ached with the desire to do the same. She wanted people to smile widely when they saw her, and wait for her arrival to bring the happiness they were counting on.

Between running around the house, begging to be read more story-books, and napping in sunny spots, Elsie played the piano. She had sat on her father's lap to play it since she could hold her head up herself, but began playing at age six. Although she competed, Elsie mainly played for her own joy. She sat diligently in lessons from her father to play the piano, while her mother taught her school subjects and how to write creatively. The music followed soon after.

During her formal magical education at Beauxbatons, Elsie loved, lost, laughed, cried, and every emotion in between as she went from a child to a young woman, feeling like nothing would really change. She kissed, and teased, and smoked while running away from discipline, homework, and anything she couldn't have fun doing. The Beauxbatons girl excelled in Charms, the only thing she had taken an interest in, and managed to get by in everything else. It was a time of living while she had the time, and playing the piano all the times in between.

Now though, Elsie is older. Not more mature, or more prepared, but older. Things had most definitely changed, as her family had moved to London in her fourth year, though she had not spent much time there. She stayed with friends in France, or brought her friends to London. After school though, as she moved back to London, there was no one to come with her. She delayed growing up by travelling for a while, hopping around family and friends as best she could while denying the inevitable fate of settling down.

She was to find a real job that was more than a part-time stint at some entry-level place. Her parents would only help so much, and this was the year she had to take charge.

Let her story begin.

Roleplay:

Option 2.

Roleplay Response:
Elsie loved the snow. She loved the snow, the sun, the rain, the grass, the flowers. She just loved. Sticking her tongue out, Elsie tried in vain to catch a falling flake on it, wobbling in the crowd as she followed a couple to no avail. "Al-mosth-deree..." The snowflakes simply did not like her today, and Elsie was beginning to annoy some of the people around her as she bumped into them, trying to snatch up the cold drop at the last moment. It didn't take long for her to give up on the plight though, and simply follow the crowd.

Easy thing it was, following. She simply shuffled her feet along, and then gently nudged her way out as she neared her destination. She would have even called such a thing boring were it not for the plan she had in mind. Today the destination was St. Mungo's, visiting some of the sick with some cards her mother made. She hummed lightly, a new song she had begun last night. "La la la la, hmm hmm." It skipped all over the place, and barely had a continuing theme to it, but Elsie didn't seemed to notice as she tapped her wand against her leg absently to the non-existent beat.

"Coming through! Coming through! Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" came a loud voice from behind, coaxing the woman to cast a lazy glance behind herself. The elder could barely be seen midst the bobbing heads, but his parcel was much more prominent, hovering precariously over their heads. Elsie began to nudge and shuffle, trying to move over as they all trekked slowly down the hill. She did not wish to be hit smack on the head with whatever was in that box, as who would the deliver the cards if she was knocked out cold?

No one, that's who. And the patients would be quite distraught.

As Elsie was finally making progress (Merlin this crowd was a slow one), she heard one more thing before it all came crashing down. "Coming th--- arrrgh!" He hit her smack on the back, and the box barely missed her head as she teetered into the person in front of her. Elsie automatically flicked her wand towards the box, stopping it mid-air with a silent Wingardium Leviosa.

"Sorry!" she chirped to the lady who had swivelled with a glare, laughing nervously until the stranger huffed and moved off.

Once she had turned her attention to the crasher, Elsie only smiled. "Don't apologize," she said, waving away his excuses with her light French accent. "The snow cannot make itself less slippery, so there is no use cursing it," she added thoughtfully. "Here is your box, did you want help getting it to where you are going?" Elsie offered, moving the box between them to drop into her hands as she looked at the man.
