Thanks for making those changes, all the powerplaying issues have been resolved now!

Your RP sample still falls a little short, however, so would you mind adding a little more detail to give Janey more to respond to? Just three or four more sentences expanding on what you've already written would be great. This may also help you get to know your own character's thoughts/reactions better too.

If you're stuck on what to write, you could think about the following:
1. You mentioned Mary was thinking about dinner. Who'll be making it? What does she hope the food will be/what's her favourite? What time does she have to be home by?
2. Mary also suggests playing tag. Is that one of her favourite games? Who does she usually play tag with, and is she any good at it? As an only child, does she get to play tag often? Or maybe she doesn't, and that's why she's asking Janey to play now?

Once you've made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. Thanks!

Hey, Kadence!

Duelling: you won't be able to sign up for the tournament now, but if you do still want to duel, you can sign up for this term's Duel Club. You won't be able to get a half level for it, but you will get a permanent extra point to add into any future Duelling profiles.

Quidditch: you can sign up at any point during the term, so you can definitely go ahead and still do that.

Classes: it's totally fine to say that she's taking other classes in addition to the classes you're actually writing with her.

Deadlines: for Quid, no deadline; for Duelling, this term it was the 10th, but in some previous terms it's been the 15th -- it's not always the same, but usually within that window, so best to sign up as early as possible; for Spellbound, it's the 10th, but if you miss it, you can PM me/Lincoln Litchfield/Edmund Wolffe and ask to join at any point in the term; for HW, it depends on the Head Nurse -- again, they'll usually close around the 10th, but if you still want to join for this term, you can PM Rafael Blancamuerte about it.

(Generally, you can assume that sign-ups will always be open until at least the 10th.)

Hope this helps, let me know if you've got any other questions!

Thank you for making that change! Unfortunately, your RP still falls a little short of our general minimum of nine sentences. If you could add just a few more sentences, that would give 'Janey' a bit more to respond to.

If you're stuck on things to write about, you could maybe include the following:
1. Why is Isabelle at the park -- did her mum let her go out to play or did she sneak out of the house?
2. Janey has a toy broom... Has Isabelle ever played Quidditch herself? If she has, does she like it/how does she feel about it? If she hasn't, does she want to try it out? Or is she a bit scared of flying?
3. It looks like Janey's been left behind by the other children. Seeing as Isabelle is the youngest child in her family too, does she get left out a lot too? Or are her siblings a bit kinder than Janey's?

You can also take a look at some of the RP samples in our sample applications.

Once you've made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. If you've got any questions, please feel free to PM myself or another administrator. Thanks!

Hi, Mary!

Your application's coming along nicely, there's just a couple of things we'll need you to edit before we can get you accepted.

Firstly, your RP sample is a little short. The general rule we follow here is the 3x3 rule (at least 3 paragraphs of at least 3 sentences each). This is to give the other player you're threading with (in this case Janey) a little more to work with when responding. If you could add to your RP sample to make it at least nine sentences long, that would be great.

Secondly, you're powerplaying Janey right at the end of your RP sample. By choosing what Janey responded to Mary and by saying that they played together the whole day, you're assuming Janey's actions here. If this was a real thread, that wouldn't be very fair to Janey's player. If you could remove the parts in your sample where you're choosing/assuming Janey's actions, this would resolve any issues of powerplaying.

If you'd like to see some examples of successful roleplay samples, you could take a look at our sample applications.

Once you've made the required changes (increasing your RP sample length and removing any instances of powerplaying), please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. If you'd like any more help with or have any questions about your application, please feel free to PM myself or another administrator. Thanks!

Hi, Aoife!

Your application looks good, there's just one thing I want to draw your attention to before we can get you accepted.

For things like excessive scarring, you'll need to submit a special request. You can find the special request form here -- you'll need to fill it out and PM it to an administrator for approval.

If your special request is accepted, we'll then process your application as normal. If not, you'll need to edit your biography accordingly. Thanks!

Hi Richard,

Your app's coming along nicely, there's just one thing I'd like to clarify before we can get you accepted.

In your biography, you claim that Richard has three No-Maj brothers. After the time warp occurs, you seem to imply that his brothers/family have been transported back in time with him, but have changed in appearance/aren't the same people anymore:

Quote
he and his brothers (now with jet black or sandy hair and hazel eyes)

The vast majority of Muggles didn't travel back in time during the Time Warp, as it only affected wizards and witches, which means that it's extremely unlikely that Richard's family would still be around for the remainder of his history post-time warp. In some very rare instances, Muggles did travel back in time with their magical relatives, but they would likely have been in magic-intensive places at the time of the warp e.g. Diagon Alley. Even if this was the case, they wouldn't have changed in appearance and would still be the same people.

If you could edit your biography to accommodate for the Time Warp's effects on Muggle relations, that would be great. Once you've made the required changes, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. Thanks!

Hi Isabelle, and welcome to the site!

Your application's coming along nicely, there's just one thing that you'll need to edit before we can get you accepted.

Currently, your RP sample is extremely short. While our players do sometimes have short 'one-liner' threads like this, the general rule for most posts is the 3x3 rule (3 paragraphs of at least 3 sentences each). This is so that you give your RP partner (in this case, Janey Hurst) enough for them to be able to respond to easily. You'll need to write a little more in your RP sample to be accepted. If you're unsure about what to write, you could think about why Isabelle isn't used to being around strangers and what she's feeling -- scared? Nervous? Embarassed? You could also write about her opinion of Janey -- does she think the other girl is annoying? Sweet? Friendly? If you write a little about what's going on inside Isabelle's head, that would give Janey's player much more to work with.

Once you've made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. Thanks!

Your bio falls short of the required length again, but seeing as there's been so much confusion with this application and you've given a longer bio further up, I'm going to go ahead and accept you now.

Just remember to bear in mind that any references to his teaching at Hogwarts should be kept vague so as not to overwrite the histories of other characters who actually taught subjects in previous years.

Hogwarts School Accepted / Re: Clara Lambert Application
« on: 30/08/2017 at 16:51 »
Hi Clara,

Thanks for making that change to your biography.

I noticed that you have also changed her brother William's profession from a researcher to Charms professor in Beauxbatons. While it's fine to say that William works at Beauxbatons, we prefer that players do not assign their characters such specific roles. Otherwise, we could end up with seven Charms professors at Beauxbatons, for example!

To avoid this, you can either change William's profession back to his original job as a  researcher, or simply remove the reference to teaching Charms (e.g. 'her brother William is currently working at Beauxbatons' would be perfectly acceptable).

Once you have made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below in this same thread (please do not repost your application in another  new thread!) and we'll be happy to take another look. Thanks!
