Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Nadine Shannon was born on the 10th August  1964 into the prestigious O’Conner family. The O’Conners are a blood purist family originated from Ireland, and claim descendants from several Kings of Ireland. Her father works as an attorney that tailors only to wealthy pureblood families. She’s the second eldest out of five children, and is very attached to her elder brother John.  They were both tutored together, despite the fact that Nadine was younger by two years.

Nadine enjoys many things – including reading and drama. Often, she could be found with a book and several articles of clothing – hats, scarves, coats or ties – acting out the scenes in the book. She would switch between each piece of clothing and pretend to be different characters in the scene. Sometimes she’d even drag John in and make him watch a particular novel she had rehearsed, or get him to help her remember her lines. Nadine performed for all her younger siblings too, though none of them seemed to appreciate it much.

As part of her dramatic nature, Nadine also loved to pull pranks. She was always up to some sort of mischief, from scaring her younger siblings with horrific tales of “Henry the Ghost” – a spectre of her own creation. She smeared ketchup over their faces and tied them to chairs in a mirrored room, swapped her tutor’s wand for a twig, her gillywater for prune juice, and with John’s help, left animals in unpleasant places for her to find.  However, Nadine rarely got caught. She had perfected her innocent smile, and was always on her best behaviour around the adults.

To Nadine, the pureblooded way of life seemed like a game. She found it great fun the different personalities she put on at the ministry functions, galas and balls she was made to attend. She loved dressing up for these events as well, and insisted on dying her hair the same shade of red as her mother’s every time.  Only nine years old, Nadine doesn’t really understand the need for blood purity. Her dislike of “mudbloods” arose from the fact that Nadine hated seeing her parents upset, and she had noticed that whenever that word was mentioned, the mood became really unpleasant. At the moment, all that Nadine cares about in life is the next tale of Henry the Ghost she is going to tell Brody, Chastity and Collin, and trying to find a way to persuade her parents to let her go to Hogwarts with her brother.  Nothing as trivial as age is going to stop her.

ROLEPLAY
Reply as your character to the following:

It was impossible for Dianne to stay out of trouble. It wasn't that she was looking for trouble, it's just that trouble always managed to find her. Today she wished she could find something equally familiar but more comforting.

The five-year old girl hugged her puffskein closer to her and brushed her face in its soft fur for comfort. She had named him herself and he was always her special pet. No she was certain she had never gone down this side street before. Her anxiety increased every second as darkness fell as she walked down the road. A loud noise came to her left and she buried her face in her pet's fur completely. The scared girl bolted the opposite way slamming the both of them into the wall of the nearest building. Tottering back a few steps she found a door a few feet to her right and ran to open it. What light there was inside spilled out into the darkness and she spilled into the room.

Once in, she was caught between the impulse to curl her cloak up more tightly around her and loosen her grip on it. She wasn't alone anymore but she was now among strangers instead, which was nearly as terrifying. Her puffskein had recovered from the shock of the wall and now was purring contentedly as the girl hugged it, causing a mildly calming effect on the girl. Gathering her courage, she marched up to the nearest person, pulled on the nearest clothing hem and blurted out in a loud voice:

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home."

She paused to draw a breath in her nearly never-ending sentence, "He misses my and his mommy."

To explain the scared girl held up the custard-colored puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein, however simply purred as if nothing on earth was wrong in the world.

Roleplay Response:
Nadine hated it when her father yelled at her. It wasn’t that he was a terrible father who hated her, Merlin no. She knew her father loved her. It was more of the fact that something at work would upset her father, and he would be in a terrible mood for the rest of the afternoon, no matter how much any of them tried to cheer him. This time she had tried to cheer him up by acting out a scene from the classic fairytale, Babbity Rabitty and the Cackling Stump but he had just scowled and told her that she shouldn’t waste her time with such nonsense now she was the oldest child in the house, and she should go focus on her studies.

It was at times like this Nadine wished John hadn’t gone to summer camp, that he had stayed at home with her. She missed her brother, and his quiet ways, and the animals he almost always seemed to have with him. Furiously wiping the tears from her eyes, Nadine stood up, deciding that now it was almost dark, she should return home before her parents began to worry.

A tug at coat distracted her, and Nadine looked down at a small girl holding a puffskein. “I’m lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home,” here the girl paused to draw breath, “he misses my and his mommy.” The girl then held up the puffskein, who was purring away happily.

Nadine couldn’t help it – she laughed. She knew she shouldn’t as she was probably being mean, but she couldn’t help herself. The girl was too cute. “Oh, you’re adorable,” Nadine gushed, bending down and pinching the girl’s cheek.  “Don’t worry, I’ll help you get home. I’m Nadine. What’s your name?”
