Biography: (100 words minimum.)

Simon Bukowski was born to Seth and Julia Bukowski in 1974 in New York, several months before the Time Warp. He was born a second-generation immigrant and both sets of Simon’s grandparents had originally migrated to America from Poland in order to survive the war.

Once the Time Warp occurred, Simon’s entire family was lost to him. All of them Muggles, they had stayed in the present while seven month old Simon slid 38 years into the past. He was found abandoned in a newer version of his family’s shoebox apartment and he spent his early years in a New York State orphanage, until an old friend of his mother’s, Ben Maciel, somehow managed to track him down and adopted him legally as his own.

As a Squib who lived with his Muggle wife, Ben Maciel’s life had also been affected by the Time Warp. After his wife disappeared, he had one day thought to look up Teresa and had been shocked to learn that the whole Bukowski family had disappeared with the exception of a little baby. Deciding to do what he could, Ben adopted and raised Simon as a nephew. He had no way of knowing that Simon would one day be a wizard, and had therefore kept the magical world a secret from him. It wasn’t until Simon received his first owl from Salem on his eleventh birthday that either of them knew that Simon was magical in any way.

Like all Muggle children, before his first school owl, Simon went to elementary school in New Jersey where Uncle Ben lived. They never had much money, so Simon’s childhood had been a simple one, with Simon doing odd jobs such as delivering the newspaper and making post deliveries in order to help out with the bills.

Overall, Simon is sarcastic, loyal, funny, outspoken and a complete and utter goofball. He is extremely clever and a nerd, although having undiagnosed ADHD means that he can’t sit still and concentrate on one thing for more than five minutes. His mind wanders like crazy, and despite all good intentions to write a Transfiguration essay, he’s more likely to let his mind drift off along a different tangent, resurfacing from a book hours later, only to realise that he’s read drips and drabs about American medieval charms, tips on dragon breeding, the history of early hexes, and Quidditch broom designs – basically anything but what he was supposed to be reading.

At times socially awkward, Simon’s mouth tends to ramble when he’s feeling stressed or uncomfortable. For the longest time, he held an intense but unrequited love for a classmate since his First year. He never had the courage to ask her out and the one time she decided to pay attention to him, he got so flustered, he rendered himself speechless and ended up having a nosebleed.

Despite being surprisingly lean, Simon loves food and anything involving food. Like a puppy, he’s been known to eat himself sick, which he then regrets later. Still, the quickest way to his heart is through his stomach and if there is a kitchen in the building, you can bet he knows where it is and how to get in.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
”I have to make Uncle Ben get out more,” Simon muttered to himself as he left the main street of Hogsmeade Village and walked towards what looked like a park. It was already his third day in the wizarding village, but Simon was still walking around with his mouth half open in awe of everything.

He had never been to a fully wizarding village – hadn’t even known they existed. Its existence had boggled his mind and he had spent his entire first day touring one half of the small village. The next day, he toured the other half, and he’d spent most of the present day visiting his favourite shops all over again to make sure that he hadn’t missed anything by accident. His plan was to stay just one more night before going back to Boston and yet he had already decided that he would come back soon. England clearly agreed with him.

Sitting down next to a tree in the park, Simon allowed himself a moment of rest from his third day of non-stop walking. He had also bought himself a massive sandwich at one of the cafés and had just unpacked it from its wrapping paper. He was admiring its supreme beauty as a form of mid-day nourishment when he saw three young children on broomsticks fly past.

How cute!

He couldn’t help but watch them play between massive mouthfuls of sandwich as he all but wolfed his food. He was in the middle of a particularly large mouthful when he saw an even smaller child – a little girl – land in the grass and jab her broom into the ground in a tantrum. Blue eyes found his light brown ones.

“You! Do you want to play?”

Simon blinked, his mouth full of food.

“Mmmuhh.”

He raised his index finger, signalling the bossy little girl to wait as he quickly tried to swallow his food while trying not to laugh.

When he was finally done chewing, he wiped his mouth with his sleeve and brought his full attention to the young lady before him. He loved kids and had spent many afternoon babysitting for extra pocket money. Luckily most kids weren’t little devils like the Patterson twins across the street from Uncle Ben’s. No, he was sure that despite the tantrum, this little lady was going to be a great friend.

“Of course I’ll play,” he said with a warm smile. “But... can I finish this sandwich first? Or how about this? You can have some if you want. Then we’ll play.”
