Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Laurence “Lars” Jeffries

Birthday: 23 Nov 1928

Hometown: Weimar, Germany

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): Fifth, sixth

Biography: Lars was born 23rd November 1928 in Weimar, Germany to Tobias and Nicole Jeffries. For as long as he could remember, his father was a scientist. He hardly spoke of what he did, although occasionally, he’d brought some interesting artefact home and let Lars in on his interesting projects. He’d sometimes share his findings with Lars and it was the enthusiasm of the man that had pushed Lars toward the same type of adventures. As a boy, with a very limited control and knowledge of magic, Lars spent his time trying to understand how muggle artefacts work—clocks, radios, televisions.

It was a rather average childhood, although it didn’t feel like that for Lars. He attended a local school when he was of age and his understanding of how magic works surprisingly helped him with his study, putting him ahead of his peers with no knowledge on the magical world. Although he often struggled in a more theoretical subjects, he excelled in sports and practical subjects. He could understand mathematics and physics easily by the reasoning behind it, rather than memorising the formula applied to the questions. He had a few close friends, although he got along with most students in the school easily. He tends to take things in life easily, not grasping them too hard for he had never lost anything he’d ever need.

Until 1937.

He woke up in the morning and his mother was nowhere to be found. It wasn’t until weeks that he accepted that she would not be back. His muggle clock had started acting erratically and they had moved to a different neighbourhood, surrounded by muggles. It felt like it was the very first time his father had no answer to something and it was an eye opening moment. There was no explanation on where his mother was or what was causing the pages of Lars notebook on muggle technology to fade away. He reread his notebook everyday, in the futile hope of memorising those words when the the pages was wiped away.

In 1940, when the war broken up in different parts of Germany, Lars was woken up in the night by his father and guided by his hushed voice, they packed and left home. The two settled in Hogsmeade and started their new life. Life at Hogsmeade wasn’t easy, for he felt like they were being hunted every moments of their life. Perhaps he was just trying to adapt to the different world and customs, to the new home that without his mother, never really felt quite like a home.

Luckily for Lars, his Hogwarts acceptance letter came when he was eleven, and like most wizards, he accepted and attended the school since then.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Gryffindor

Personality: Lars is optimistic and always looks for the positive in life, which has helped him through different circumstances in life. He’s enthusiastic about many things and found it easy to impress others in conversations. He learns best through trying different methods and finding adventures through the mundane. When things doesn’t make sense to him, he tends to be very impatient and careless in finishing the tasks given.

Appearance: While he is of an average height and slim build, Lars often appears taller than he actually is. Perhaps it was the confidence in his strides, the laughter that twinkle steadily in his eyes, or simply just good selections of short people he hung out with. He has blue eyes and brown hair, passed down from his father’s side though he also inherited a handful of features from his mother.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

He loved quidditch day. For one, quidditch day means match day where everyone dressed up in their house colour—bonus: he looked great in his house colour. But perhaps more importantly, the house elves always seemed to celebrate it by breaking out all the great foods at the end of the match. The roasted chicken with mushroom and cracked pepper gravy, the prawn platters, and the tall dessert pudding stood majestically in the middle of  their table.

Their loser’s table.

The team was quieter than usual, which was understandable considering they had just lost the game (and the cup). Through the corner of his eyes, Lars could see James sulking at the end of the table. It was rather unfortunate that his team had to play a second year in a final, but the injuries had knocked out their seeker and leading chaser. As much as they had been a winner for the past year, they never really had much chance this year for their best players had graduated the year before and their team was laden with injuries.

Thinking about injuries, his blue eyes gazed away briefly at their seeker.

“Ey, eat up!” He called out to his team.

The other team might have taken their quidditch cup but they wouldn’t be able to take Lars’s appetite. He took another bite off his chicken drumstick when he saw James stomped out the Hall. Lars wiped his mouth with a quick swipe and stepped out the long bench to follow the boy.

"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

“Ey, James, calm down.” He rested a fist on the wall and leaned onto it as he continued, “Didn’t like the roast chicken?”
