Biography:

Born to the Wendell family in 1882, the importance of preserving status was instilled in Alice from the moment she came into the world. Her duty in life was simple and clear. Alice was to marry into a Pureblood family and ensure that family flourished by any means necessary. The day after she graduated from Hogwarts, Alice married Daniel Rose and joined the lesser-known Rose family. Under the combined ambition and persistence of Daniel and Alice, and their respective families, the Rose family entered an era of prosperity and influence. Most importantly, their reputation as a Pureblood family was spotless. Alice and Daniel were the perfect couple. While Alice could never truly say that she was in love with him, the public was none the wiser. They were merely means to an end for each other. But in public, they loved each other dearly and set forth to expand their family.

During the early 1900s, Alice gave birth to her heir, Alan. While she was never really involved in her son’s upbringing and mostly left the child-rearing to the help, Alice attempted to mold Alan in her image. She taught him everything she knew about being a proper Pureblooded member of society. She instilled the values of ambition, of class and, most importantly, of blood purity in her son so that he could continue the legacy she had worked tirelessly to create. Alice had set herself up for a quiet retirement, out of the public light while her son carried on the family name. She had even hand-selected a bride for the boy, from a proper Pureblooded family as well. She was proud to be a Rose.

And then disaster struck for Alice. Against her wishes and certainly contrary to her plans, Alan rejected his bride-to-be and moved to America, where he settled down with a Muggle. Alice was mortified that her only son had managed to destroy the Rose legacy that she had worked her entire life to create in one fell swoop. She tried desperately to hide the embarrassment and the shame of having a son who married a Muggle. She refused to even speak to her son or visit him during those years. She never even knew he moved back to London in the early 1940s.

It wasn’t until March 1948 that Alice received news of her son’s death at the hands of the Hexenreich. While she certainly put on a sad face for the public, Alice could feel nothing for her disappointment of a son. At the time, she had no plans to even attend the funeral. It wasn’t until she learned that Alan had, during the time he was estranged from the Rose family, had another daughter, that she felt compelled to reintroduce herself into that side of the family. This daughter, surprisingly, was Pureblood.

Knowing that the legacy of the Rose family rested on the young Chloe, Alice forced herself into the lives of Alan’s family. Her granddaughter, Serena, wanted nothing to do with her. However, Alice had managed to forge a relationship with Chloe’s birth mother. Ever since, Alice has worked tirelessly to groom Chloe into a proper Pureblooded heir, to rectify the mistakes of her disobedient son.

Roleplay:

Option Two -

The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:

Alice walked with a purpose, her heels clicking loudly against the hard, cobblestone paths. She was dressed in an elegant set of black, tightly-fitted robes that gave both the impression of power and wealth. No emotion passed her face, not even when the cold winter wind whipped across her face. That was the Rose way, after all. Alice had spent years perfecting and cultivating a life that revolved around projecting the power of the Rose family. From her wardrobe, to her stern, no-nonsense look, to the way she proudly held her nose high up in the air, Alice Rose was the embodiment of her proud, Pureblooded family.

She was on one of her rare trips through Wizarding London. Typically, Alice would have dispatched one of her many servants or the hired help to run such an errand for her, as Alice thoroughly detested mingling with such common wizards, but this was a special occasion. Alice was on her way to purchase a special item for her granddaughter. It was, perhaps, for a birthday or even Christmas? Alice wasn’t concerned with the details. The only thing that was on Alice’s mind was that the child was the key to the future of the Rose family, so she needed to ensure she remained close and never wavered, unlike her disobedient son. And nothing was going to stand in her way.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!"

Alice turned just in time to be greeted with a face full of tinsel and glitter and whatever else had been in the box that crashed into her. An aged man followed and crumpled into a heap at her feet. Alice unflinchingly managed to keep her balance and poise, even while decorated like a Christmas tree. Years of practicing her balance and maintaining her composure had helped in preventing a complete disaster.

"I am so sorry! This blasted snow!"

She rounded on the man, looking like a fierce and hungry predator, a look of pure contempt etched into the lines of her aging face. “How dare you.” she uttered forcefully and dangerously. The tone in her voice indicated not a single note of rage, it would be unladylike to raise her voice in such a manner. Her voice had, in fact, become lower and even crisper than usual, almost menacing. “Take this vile, gaudy rubbish off of me at once.” It wasn’t a demand, it was an order.
