Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Tick. Tick. Tick.

The second hand on the clock ticked away at what seemed like a snails’ pace for my Muggle father who was nervously pacing outside in the hallway leading to the bedroom where my Muggle mother was preparing for my birth. The doctor arrived, and after a relatively short labour - 4 hours and 33 minutes - I came into the world. I, Barnaby Llewellyn Thatcher, was born on 2nd March 1945* weighing 6 lb 7 ounces at 2:50 pm.

*Records now record the birth as 2nd March 1907

Tick. Tick. Tick.

My earliest memory consists of a single mechanical metronome ticking away on the fall board of the piano. Tiny hands stretched to reach the keys, practicing scales in perfect octaves of both the major and minor kind.  Up and down, up and down. Each scale repeatedly until practice made perfect and perfect practice made permanent.

I performed Beethoven’s ‘Sonata No. 8 Pathetique’ at my first piano recital when I was just four years old. It is still one of my favorite classical works. I wrote and performed my own ‘Concerto for Piano’ at age six. Unfortunately, Mozart still had me beat, but in that moment I was declared to be a music prodigy.

My parents spent a lot of money and quit their jobs to relocate us to America to send me to the Julliard School of Music. It was here that my musical skills blossomed at a pace that even I couldn’t image. I still religiously practiced and played the piano, but I was also introduced to my second love; the violin.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

Shortly after I turned eleven years of age, my parents and I were visited by a Professor from the Salem Institute for Young Witches and Wizards. It was revealed that I harnessed some magical ability that even I was unaware of. It was explained that usually children like me display some sort of magical ability before the age of eleven, but it was determined that due to the amount of time I spent practicing and playing both the violin and piano, that I hadn’t been involved in many a situation that would call for a premature display of my unique ability.

So that summer, we relocated once more from New York, New York to Boston, Massachusetts. It was decided that I would study with my magical peers by day and my musical peers by night. I tutored under some of the best professionals in the music business at Berklee College of Music. While learning to be a wizard was something new and exciting, I just couldn’t bear to give up my first true love.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

At the beginning of my Primary III year at Salem Institute, my maternal grandfather took ill, passing away shortly before the Christmas holiday. My family, once again, decided to pack up our things one last time and relocate back home to Aberystwyth, Wales. Upon the settling of his estate, we were left with just a small fortune, as well as his historic home.

The following year, I repeated my third year and began my studies at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At the opening feast, I was sorted into Ravenclaw. While I was unable to continue studying music privately, I was soon introduced to the Room of Requirement where I would practice both the piano and violin in my own private music hall. I graduated from Hogwarts in June 1964 and went on to continue studying music at the collegiate level.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

While I never gave up my magical ways, I never completely cut ties from my Muggle ties either.  On New Year’s Eve 1974, the last thing I remembered was being involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle on my way home from a party. I hadn’t been feeling the greatest, and thought it best to retire to my home early before the New Year was rung in.

Tragically, I didn’t make it. However, something very mysterious happened.  On that Eve, the magical world had become trapped in some type of magical Time Warp, leaving me caught between this world and the next. I think, in part, that my soul is confused as to whether I should have remained in 1974 with my deceased self or transported back to 1937 with the rest of the magical world.

Here I am though, my ghost preserved with the rest of the wizarding community. I have made the decision, should the Hogwarts community decided to accept it, to forever return to Hogwarts as this is one of few remaining places that I can call home. The Ravenclaw tower was always nice and cozy, and in return I promise to fill the common room with beautiful music and provide calming lullabies to lure the Ravens to sleep.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
Despite the fact that the Christmas season possessed both the haunting memories of his grandfathers’ and his own passing, it was still Llewellyn’s favorite time of year. The lights and decorations were always a sight to see, and despite the hussle and bussle of the holiday season, the people were generally in a more joyous mood this time of year. It was sightseeing that had brought him here today.

The smell of fresh baked cookies emerged from the open door of the bakery. Llewellyn inched closer to the shop and peered in. Chocolate chip cookies lined the tables. They had always been his favorite; what he wouldn’t do to be able to have a cookie, or two, or ten (might as well make it an even dozen).

Not wanting to tempt himself any longer, paired with the fact he wanted to make it downtown to see the big tree all lit up, Llewellyn backed away from the bakery’s window back out into the street.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!"

Lucky for Llewellyn (being a ghost and all), the man had not collided with him but a female passerby. The woman didn’t look happy, but neither did the man. The worst that had happened to Llewellyn was the odd feeling as one of the flying boxes passed through him.

Unfortunately, Llewellyn wasn’t going to be of much help to help the two up or to help pick up the scattered contents of the boxes. He turned to ask the man and woman if they were okay, but the man was already making his way back to his feet.

So instead, Llewellyn called out to some of the onlookers and passerbys, “Anyone care to help him pick up the contents of his boxes?”
