Biography:
Once upon a time, there was a family. It was a very big family that seemed to grow and swell continually. Not like a balloon or a bubble. Those popped and vanished, fading away into the wind, never to be seen in the world again. And McCormicks didn’t pop. No, they swelled like the bridge in a song, humming together to form a tune that was the prettiest thing Lily’d ever heard. Lovely individually, but together? Unforgettable.

Through the winking of starlight and moon dust, the world pulled Lily, bright eyed and bewildered, into its arms on the 7th of April, 1950.

From the beginning, Lily always loved people. She loved figuring them out and getting to know them and making new friends. But as much as Lily could love them, the girl often found the need to separate from them. In times when the world felt so loud that it might make her heart break in half, she found herself pulling away and spending time with just Lily until she was able to recharge.

Maybe it was because she was the eldest of 7 children and, from birth, was always surrounded by chaos, but Lily has always felt her emotions very deeply and, at times, had trouble controlling them. Sometimes this would cause her to display instances of powerful accidental magic. From a very young age, Lily has always passed these instances off as acts of her dear old teddy, Fred, and has yet to truly understand that the magic comes from her.

A wandering spirit at heart, Lily loves adventure but is also known to get lost in little tiny pieces of the world that others may view as insignificant. Things like lemon meringue pie sky, how some of the stars twinkle just a little bit more than others, and how, if you were quiet and still, the wind would whisper secrets into your ears.

Some call her peculiar. Some think her a strange little wildflower of a girl. But to those closest to her, she’s just Lily.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Lily never minded the dungeons. Not one little bit. She liked the darkness of it. And being covered by the entire Castle. She wanted to think that the dungeons were hundreds and hundreds of miles beneath the earth even though she knew it wasn't quite that far down.

But, if Lily could imagine she was that far down (—which she often did—) she could imagine just how very different the world could be beneath the sky and trees and grass and roots and dirt.

This was how things ended. Dying and decayed twisty turny roots that took entire trees down. But it was also how things began. As tiny little seedlings pushing deeper for stability and reaching high high high to get closer to the sun, this was their start. It was beautiful and a little sad.

Lily hummed to the darkness and the darkness seemed to answer, altering shades of shadows. It was as good an audience as any. But her humming was abruptly cut off when she realized it wasn't just her and Fred and the Dark down there.

"H-h-hello?"

Pushing up from her spot on the wall, she followed the voice, listening to the tap tap tapping of her sneakers on the almost-damp ground. She was closer now when the girl spoke again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

Birch. Like a tree! "But who's Emma Birch?" She mused aloud, toes tapping a few steps closer, "Maybe she started down here, but I don't see her now," Surely a Birch in the dungeon would stand out. She would have noticed that, she was sure. "Well, I don't think she's here anymore, but maybe up there—" head tilted back, she squinted as if she might actually be able to see a thousand miles above her into the sunlight, "—way way up there, reaching for the sunlight."

Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Once upon a time there was a family. It was a very big family and seemed to constantly grow and swell. Not like a balloon or a bubble. Those popped and vanished, fading away into the wind, never to be seen again. And McCormick’s didn’t pop. No, they swelled like the bridge in a song, humming together to form a tune that was the prettiest thing Lily’d ever heard. Nice individually, but together? Unforgettable. They were not perfectly rehearsed. But there was something about the imperfections that made them better. And stronger, Mum always said.

They didn’t have too much. With so many kids, they often relied on each other for entertainment. Which was all fine for Lily. Most of the time, at least. Being the oldest of the McCormick clan meant a lot of things. It meant helping out when her parents were busy doing parent things. It meant sometimes having to give up individual time with them. But it also meant getting to do cool things that the babies couldn’t do yet. Like going to work with dad or mum, or going on playdates with Auntie MarMar and Bash.

Sometimes she found herself getting lost in a sea of pretty voices. But she was stubbornly sure of her own voice.

And she wouldn’t trade it. Not for the entire world.

Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
Days in Godric Park were some of her favorites. The sun was bright in the sky and it reminded her of Lemon Meringue Pie only without the fluffy white stuff that went on the top. If there had been clouds it would have been a perfect dessert sky. As it was it was a pucker-cheek treat kind of sky which was just as good, at least to Lily McCormick.

Her family was close by. She wasn’t out of their sight because the second she left it, she knew daddy would hop up and tell her not to. So she stayed in range because she really didn’t have any shenanigans to get up to anyways. “Fred, keep up!” she said to the teddy bear she was carrying by the paw. After a moment’s pause, she went on, “So what’f ya legs are shorter? Put some pepper in them steppers!”

That was when the girl ran up to her. “Ya wanna play with us?” she glanced down at the bear, giving him a quizzical glance. After another moment’s pause, Lily looked at the new girl again, “Fred thinks you could be alright. Whatcha wanna do, then?”
