Elizabeth Asterias Cross is the only daughter of Rosalin Lynn and Benjamin Cross, both Squibs. Elizabeth received the scar on the side of her neck when she was six years old, from her racist Grandmother, Theodora Lynn. Theodora was a pureblood elitist and was firmly against the existence of Elizabeth, she believed Squibs would only continue to breed Squibs and should “just die.” Rosalin was disowned shortly after rescuing Elizabeth from her mother who had caused the scar with a spell, and they were banished from visiting ever again. Elizabeth apologized, thinking it was her fault. Rosalin was actually rather relieved, and continued to love Elizabeth deeply with Benjamin as she continued to grow. The burn on the inner thigh of her right leg is from a camping trip she was on with Benjamin when she slipped on the muddy ground by the campfire and fell onto the hot marshmallow-roasting stick. That did not stop her from eating the roasted marshmallow through her tears nonetheless.

At the time of the time-warp, she was three years old. She had been inside her house, in her bedroom when it happened, playing with the enchanted locket around her neck. It was a gift from Benjamin’s father, who did not mind the fact she appeared to also be a muggle. It played a song for her whenever it opened, and it showed a moving picture of her parents holding her. She loved it dearly, and was started when she looked around and none of her toys, nor her walls were where like they should have been. The walls were not a light pink, but a dark blue wallpaper. Her toys were gone, and there was no carpet beneath her feet. She was in the home of a middle-aged man named Alexander Cross, a fencing professor at the University of Dublin. When he returned home from work he found her sitting on his counter with her hand in a box of ‘Raisin Bran’, with a chair pushed up to the counter so she could reach. After they had both recovered from their shock Elizabeth dropped the box and started to try to climb down via the chair. He, of course, caught her and picked her up to keep her in one place while his brain tried to keep up with ‘what the heck is happening there’s a little girl stealing my cereal.’ He sat her down on the counter and they had an awkward staring contest for a few minutes until he asked her name. “ ‘Lizbeth.” She had replied, eating some of the spilled cereal off the counter. “Well, Elizabeth, what are you doing here? Where are your parents?” Not getting an answer besides a noncommittal shrug, he sighed and carefully kept an eye on her as he skirted the counter to get to the landline. Calling his sister she came over immediately and someone convinced him it was a good idea to adopt her as he had just lost his wife and needed something to distract him around the house. Plus, she was adorable and his sister, Amelia, wanted a niece! The final deciding point was that because Amelia was a wealthy CEO of a largely popular fashion brand she was to pay for all of the necessities. He was slightly bitter about losing his office, as the child refused to sleep anywhere else. (It was her old room.) So down went his star charts, his astrolabe, his globe, and out with his desk, (for he was also a professor of astrology and geography.) And so she was raised in that house, in the middle of Glen Ellan Grove, at the right place, but in the wrong time.

Elizabeth got the scar through her eyebrow from a bicycling accident while she was riding in her neighborhood with her Muggle friends. She and her friend, Elijah Rhodes, collided with each other and she received roadburn from being flung forwards over her handlebars onto the pavement while he merely fell under the weight of both of their bikes. Elijah got up barely scratched, and Elizabeth was glad, even as she had to get a stitch for the cut in her eyebrow. The remaining scrapes were superficial, and the other, quieter friend, (a petite blonde girl named Lila Harrison) was reading under the shade of a tree. Upon hearing the collision she had run to get Mrs. Harrison, Lila’s mother, who was watching nearby. Throughout her childhood Eliza lived a rather average existence, her mother would give her extra lessons at home, (as she was a teacher,) and because of this she excelled in her classes at school. Though with every school, there are bullies, and people underestimated her because of her thin frame and her success in school. There were some who picked on her and she asked her mother if she was allowed to do something about it. Rosalin, of course, made the mistake of telling her treat others how she wanted to be treated. This translated to Elizabeth as: “If you’re going to be kicked around anyway, you may as well kick them too.” And that is what landed her in her first visit to the Principal’s Office when she was eight for knocking Charlie Daniels clean on his rump with a bloody nose. Her parents were not amused. She found it quite funny.

It was a severe shock to her routine when she received her Hogwarts letter at age eleven. Her parents, needless to say, were stunned, before becoming completely overjoyed for her. It was the most unusual thing for her, for the week after she received a letter from Grandma Theodora inviting her over to tea. She declined, with a polite, yet firm, Howler.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality:
Elizabeth's personality solidified after the time warp. It had to. She became more independent, confident, cunning. She was determined to continue on with her life. Even before the time warp, she was quick-witted and headstrong. Her goals are the same: to become an Auror and to make a difference. In this way, she is ambitious; she is undaunted at the odds stacked against her. A mule is not nearly as stubborn as she can be, but she is also wise for her age. Elizabeth knows when she must hold her tongue and has had long experience hiding her emotions. While she may seem outwardly cold at times, on the inside she is truly just indifferent. When she does care, she means it; from the bottom of her heart, she is sincere. She will be found thinking her ways out of situations first before being rash. If it involves someone she cares about and there is no time to think, she will refuse to sit and think and instead act on instinct. She cannot bear to lose someone; it would break her if someone she cared about died. Her respect is hard-earned and her love even harder. You must make quite an impression on her in order to earn her loyalty. One of her biggest fears is being forgotten; she is afraid to be left as just another Jane Doe, one who did not leave a big change in the world. Another fear of hers is forgetting her parents; it would tear her apart and slowly drive her mad. Elizabeth does not grieve well. A flaw of hers is keeping her emotions and her worries all to herself; she can sometimes be too independent, when not all problems can be solved on her own.
She has a strong sense of justice; what is right and what is wrong are studies Elizabeth has known since she was a child. She will not allow injustice to happen while she can do something about it; it goes against her blood. Elizabeth has to be very brave to follow her ambitions and to stand against the world.

… And, she will do it with a smile.

Appearance:

Elizabeth has shoulder-length, naturally straight scarlet hair. Her eyes are large and round, a light blue color. Her face is oddly empty of any freckles, her creamy skin clear. She has a white scar that stretches from the top of the nape of her neck to curve halfway down the left side of her throat. Said scar is a quarter of an inch wide and quite light in pallor. Despite how noticeable it becomes when she puts her hair up, she refuses to hide it. It gives her confidence, courage, to show it to the world. It is her way of saying she is not afraid of what others think of her, she is happy the way she is. Elizabeth has round, full lips, and a relatively average nose; it is not upturned, it is not squashed, it is not petite. It is just her nose. Her face is thin and rounded, the only other noticeable attribute is a small scar that vertically cuts into her left eyebrow ever so slightly. Elizabeth stands at five feet, eleven inches and has short, well-kept fingernails. She has a thin frame, with long legs, and there is yet another scar, this one a small burn,on the inner thigh of her right leg.

Eliza forced her legs to stop in time in order to barely avoid bumping into the taller student. James, if she remembered correctly. She frowned minutely when she realized his last name had escaped her, before she shook herself back to the present. She took a moment to order her thoughts, before parting her lips to speak unwaveringly as she met his gaze with a soft one of her own. “I was not aware there is a loser in this hallway.” She mused, before she pretended to glance around as if there were another occupant besides them, before she returned her focus to him. “I came to congratulate you, I have never seen someone so young handle a broom so well. You’re quite advanced for your age, and you shouldn't beat yourself up over one loss. A loss is a loss, a win is a win, no matter what game it is.” She said firmly, her lips pressed into a line as she hummed in affirmation. “You should take this experience and grow from it, not mourn. A person who stays in the past does not move forward, and I recommend that you do. One loss will not have you kicked off the team, I’m certain.” She smiled up at him, even as she went so far as to show a bit of white in the light of the hallway’s torches. She could not remember the last time she had truly smiled at someone, but James had deserved this much, he needed the encouragement and she had tasked herself to give it to him. Even if it meant going outside her comfort zone. She slowly slipped back into a close-lipped grin. “I wish you luck in your next game, James. I know you will do well.” She waved slightly, before she continued her journey down the brightly lit hallway.

The remaining scrapes were superficial, and the other, quieter friend, (a petite blonde girl named Lila Harrison) was reading under the shade of a tree. Upon hearing the collision she had run to get Eliza’s mother, as her father was at work at the law firm he was employed at in Dublin. Throughout her childhood Eliza lived a rather average existence, her mother would give her extra lessons at home, (as she was a teacher,) and because of this she excelled in her classes at school. Though with every school, there are bullies, and people underestimated her because of her thin frame and her success in school. Her parents were not amused. She found it quite funny.

It should be noted that she developed a shared love for mystery novels with Lila, and they would often pretend Elijah was the cunning Professor Moriarty, and they, Sherlock and Watson! Between the two of them, (and occasionally Elijah), they had amassed quite the collection of different novels. Oddly enough Elizabeth found the murder mysteries the most interesting.
