Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): 1st, 2nd

Biography:
It was September of 1967 when Wilhelmina Sofia Mason was born, and the world was a vastly different place.

Of course, no one remembers that now.

As far as everyone believes, it was 1929. It had been about a decade since the end of the Great War and the world was on the brink of a Great Depression. Her parents had been married for less than year, and they were both working at Hogwarts.

Her father, Arlo Mason, was teaching History of Magic, while her mother, Anneka Ivanova, was the Head of Gryffindor.

Wilhelmina was born into a strange mix of cultures. Her father was American, her mother was Russian, and they were living in Scotland. There was also a difference in blood status. Arlo was a halfblood, but Anneka came from a strict, traditional pureblood family. At the time, it hadn't mattered.

Before her first birthday, her parents had divorced. Wilhelmina spent most of her time with her mother, which meant being raised in Hogwarts. Her father had quit teaching and left Hogsmeade, but Anneka stayed at the school and in their flat in Hogsmeade. Some of the students were eager to help babysit her, so she was exposed to many types of people over the years.

Due to this, Mina didn't develop a strong Scottish accent, but a very general British one - a mix from all the different accents she'd spent so much time around.

Growing up in the Hogwarts halls wasn't the ideal life. Often, she wished her parents were still together or that she could have a normal home. But, these moods didn't last long, because the school was full of exciting things to distract her. Wilhelmina got to go to Quidditch games and duelling tournaments. The kitchens were always full of good food and house elves eager to please. She could go see the cool animals and plants kept on the grounds.

And, when it was finally time for her to enroll as a student, she knew she would have an advantage over the other first years. She wouldn't get lost or be caught off guard by those moving staircases. The Sorting Hat wasn't even impressive anymore.

Sometimes Anneka took her on trips to Russia. She liked visiting her grandparent's house, because it was large and old sort of like Hogwarts. They never treated her badly, but it was made clear that she didn't truly belong in the family because she was a halfblood. If Nikolai hadn't spoken up on her behalf, Mina might not have been welcome at all.

Uncle Nikolai was her favorite. He was her mother's twin brother. Even though he believed in the superiority of purebloods, he never treated her differently. He spoiled her with gifts and treats from Russia. Wilhelmina had been devastated when Britain closed its borders and Anneka told her that she wouldn't be able to see her uncle for a long time.

Even worse was the red badge she had to wear. It was called a blood badge. Hers said 'H'. Mina understood it was something bad. Her mother didn't have to wear one. The badge highlighted the reason why her maternal grandparents wouldn't accept her. But Hogwarts was full of students wearing badges, and some were worse than hers. Those said 'M'.

When she received her Hogwarts letter (hand delivered), she realized she had a bigger problem than any badge. Wilhelmina was the daughter of the Headmistress, and she was worried how the other students would treat her. She had her father's last name, but it might only delay the inevitable.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin or Gryffindor
Gotta keep it in the family. Anneka was a Slytherin, but Arlo was a Gryffindor.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Mina loved Quidditch.

Her mum always said she'd gotten that trait from her father. He had played Quidditch. He also wrote poetry, but that was one thing she hadn't inherited. She supposed she'd gotten her brown hair and brown eyes from both of her parents. So, she might not have been as much like her father as Mum claimed. Only with the Quidditch.

Besides, Uncle Nikolai loved it too. So it could have come from Ivanov side as well as the Mason side.

Mina had been at the game and she'd seen the boy mess up, securing the win for the other team. The boy who was currently walking right in front of her. He suddenly turned around, shouting at her. He was a little older than her, and, as a first year, she probably should have been cowering or apologizing profusely for whatever he thought she had done.

But, this was her school.

She knew everything about Hogwarts better than any of the students here. They would only spend seven years there, but Mina had already spent eleven years wandering those halls. And seeing her fair share of Quidditch games. People messed up games all the time. She thought this boy was nothing more than a silly, crybaby. Her nose wrinkled in disgust.

"If you're trying to act tough, I'm not impressed." Mina crossed her arms over her chest. "It doesn't work when you look ready to burst into tears. Now, please move out of my way. Before I have to make you move."
