Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Yu-Tong and Mei immigrated to London in the mid-1930s before the eruption of World War II. Bringing the clothes on their backs, the money they had saved, and their young son Jian-Liang, the small family struggled with the cultural change and the language barrier upon arriving in England. Their fortunes transformed after they found work at a Chinese restaurant, where they befriended their boss and earned enough capital to begin their own Chinese medicine store on the side where they dealt business with Muggles and wizards alike, a close friend serving as an interpreter for the couple who still barely spoke the language.

In an attempt to acclimatise him with the language and culture in England, Jian-Liang's parents sent him to Muggle school. But children are cruel and 1940s England was hardly accepting; it was his teacher who gave him the name "Levi" because Jian-Liang was too difficult for her to pronounce. It didn't help that he was naturally shy and found it hard to make friends, let alone people who barely spoke his language.

English soon came to him but friendship did not. Levi ended up withdrawing into himself, turning to music as a solace. It sounded good, it flowed well, it made sense. After learning how to play the erhu and guzheng from his mother, he expressed the desire to learn how to play the piano, which his parents gladly indulged. Anything to make their child happy after all. But they still worry, of course they do. Levi is supposed to enter Hogwarts in one year and is still secluded and reclusive.

Perhaps the wizarding world might be kinder to him; or at least, that's what they're hoping.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

He had just been passing by, minding his own business. Levi was the quiet sort, unused to socializing with other children or to having many friends. He'd learned in his early years that it was best for him to stay far away from others; nobody wanted to play with him, after all. Even if they asked they would learn that they didn't want to play with him soon enough.

Despite that, he thought that he'd gotten rather good at watching people. He'd observed the children at a distance, noting their interaction and processing how they'd left the little girl behind. It seemed cruel to do so, but people could be awful. This didn't seem very much out of the ordinary for him and was to be expected. What wasn't to be expected, however, was the girl to storm in his direction and point at him. Levi jolted as she shrieked a shrill you at him, lips parting with shock until he registered that she was asking him to play.

"If you want." His eyes did not meet the other child's and he glanced awkwardly to the side, half-hoping, half-fearing that she would turn him away upon realizing how not fun he was. "You can also ask me to go away."
