CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character name: Hermes I R St. Oswald

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: Thomas Ellwood-Luxe, Newt Fortescue, Maxmillian Morgenstern, Camila-Valentina Hervás & Zander Kota

Character age: Twenty-Nine

Character education: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry - Gryffindor (11 - 18)
                           Beauxbatons Academy of Magic (6 - 11)

Strength and weaknesses (details please):
Strengths;- Hermes is a driven person, he is driven by the need to fulfill the purpose of life. During his years at Hogwarts, he was always striving to be the best, to the best possible version of himself that there could be. He wanted to be the honourable man, the gentlemen, the brave soul that helped in times of need, he was driven by fulfilling everyday as if it was his last.

Being an ambitious person, he is outgoing, wanting to strive for the best and so he tends to be somewhat talkative, always wanting to get to know people, what drives them, what makes them want to achieve. I think that this is a trait that can be used well within the teaching profession as he is likely to get to know all the students, and is there for when anyone might want to turn to him in times of need. He’s kind, caring and there for people.

Weaknesses;- Not everyone is perfect, and so Hermes has several faults. He’s not the best, he often can be found reading up books, continuingly learning how to become a better person. Perhaps this need to perfection can sometimes sway his judgement, often within himself rather than in connection with other people. Even though this is a weakness, he would more than likely strive to keep personal life private and not letting it get in the way of teaching life.

Physical description: Hermes is the picture of gentlemen. He has the cheekbones, the refined jawline; everything a handsome gentlemen should be. He can often be found wearing suits, as this asserts his authority, and it has been his choice of clothing ever since leaving Hogwarts when in public, for he doesn’t just represent himself, he represents his family, and so he must be seen to be smart and respectable by other witches and wizards.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.): Often Hermes has various tales to tell, he is a rather talkative person who can always be found wearing a smile. He cannot be seen upset, or crying for this is a sign of weakness and with his conditional training, no one can see him as being weak. However, when Hermes is angry, many people will notice it, with the constant knitted together eyebrows, and a somewhat scowl. He will not take this out on anybody, he will leave it until he is on his own and privately deal with his feelings.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?: He never wanted to be a teacher in his adolescent years when he was deciding what career to choose. From his pureblood family, he ultimately fell down the route of politics, and so his grandfather declared him the family representative within the Wizengamot. What made him want to teach was the feeling he got when he helped several apprentices within the Ministry. He felt the sense of fulfillment, and so when the position of potions master came up, he applied, potions being his best subject when he was at school.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):
Hermes Ignatius Robert St.Oswald was born into the The Most Ancient House of St.Oswald, a family that has origins in France, having traveled to England with William The Conquer. It was through this loyalty and support that the family was given land, where the now infamous Highcove Palace now stands, the official residence of his grandfather, the head of the St.Oswald family. Hermes was born the eldest of twins, having arrived into the world ten minutes before his twin brother, Poseidon Armando William St.Oswald, they were born severely premature, their mother only being five months through the pregnancy. Being the eldest of his siblings who were to come along in the following years, he was risen as heir to the families fortune, estate and status in the Wizarding World, the family having accumulated more land, and more money through the ages.

His parents, Adelaide and Pierre raised their four children, Hermes, Poseidon, Albert (Charles Ares), Elizabeth (Sofia Athena) in Greenwich Lodge, a modest stately home in the heart of London. They lived a quiet life, his father working within the Ministry, being close friend to the Minister for Magic, his mother staying at home, running the house as a wife would. It wasn't until his fifth birthday that both him and Poseidon received a letter from Beauxbatons Academy for Magic where they would attend for the best part of their early childhood. It being tradition that St.Oswald children went to Beauxbatons, to make them ever known of their history and ancestry. The entire family moved to the Chateau near the school, where the young children would visit on weekends and through holidays, Hermes always said that was a highlight of his life so far.

The boys would return home to Great Britain ahead of their eleventh birthday where they would receive a second letter asking them to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When at Hogwarts, Hermes was sorted into Gryffindor, befriending Xavier Donaldson and Nike Parkinson. Being a boy, he would often get into trouble, late homework's, fights in the corridor resulting in detentions and telling offs from his parents, even a strongly worded letter from his grandfather. It wasn't until his fifth year when he found that he wanted to work in the Ministry, having taken a trip there for a careers day. He soon fell in love with the idea of the Wizengamot and government, he probably had a slight power issue, wanting more but with self-help he would see that he wanted to make change rather than for power.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.

In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:
Hermes carried his usual black briefcase as he marched down the echoing corridors of Hogwarts. It had been ten years since he had wandered through these halls, with their incredibly high ceilings, their sandy coloured stones, most of them adorned with various portraits that were impressive. Many called out his name as he passed, which was quite humorous for him as he had not been here in so long. His lips curled upwards, his fingers nimbly fixing the buttons of his suit jacket. He was running late; he knew he was for he could not find the papers he needed, so now he knew he had something to do to get himself back into the Headmistresses good books.

Walking through the somewhat eerie halls of Hogwarts was memorable, he could remember the vast activities he’d gotten up to. Quidditch, spending most of his time in the hospital wing afterwards, the odd snog in a broom cupboard, it all started flowing back to him as he smiled. Then, he was ultimately greeted by the famous curling staircase to the Headmaster's office, he would be lying if he said that he had not once been in the office for miscellaneous activities. He could still remember the stern look on Professor Birch’s face when he had to explain why he and Miss Miller were caught in that broom cupboard.

Smile rampant on his face, appearing to be confident with everything he was doing; for there was something within him that was causing his heart to beat loudly; whether that be nerves, or the thought of being in that office again, he knocked on the door. Waiting for the response, he did not need to open the door himself, as it swung open of its own accord, and there she stood; Headmistress Anneka Ivanova. She stood with a presence that demanded respect; respect in which he gave, hoping she would too in return.

“I must express my immediate apologies, Headmistress” He spoke, chest somewhat puffed as he tried to appear as confident as he could be. “I did not mean to be late, I hope that you can find it within you to not use this as a means of dispelling me, it is a position that I would very much be honoured to behold”

Biography:
Alfie Jude Milan Moore was born five minutes after his older sister, and only sibling, Poppy Elizabeth Brooklyn Moore. During labour, their mother faced complications, hemorrhaging, in result of this, she passed only moments later, knowing she had given birth to her baby boy and girl. There father would dive into a deep depression, having lost the love of his life, through this he would not be able to cope with having two children that reminded him of his deceased wife, he left them to his own parents, Fredrick and Amanda Moore who was head of the family. Their father traveled abroad, travelling to Bulgaria, Sweden and Norway where he would be involved in a skiing accident. He was taken to hospital where he was treated but never pulled through, he passed away several days later, his body was transported back to England where a funeral was held with ministry officials present, their father having worked as Senior Undersecretary for some time.

The twins would grow up to be strong, healthy young children, living in the Moore Manor with their grandparents. It wasn't until his fifth birthday that Alfie began to show magical potential, some saying it being early, his grandfather had taught him a trick to make a rose appear from nowhere, he did this to his grandmother who was brought to tears. He was destined for magic, Poppy not being able to manage it just yet. The family was worried for Poppy, until the day two letters arrived to Hogwarts on their eleventh birthday, it was the same day that they would be told of their parents deaths. Elizabeth, their mother having left her engagement ring to Alfie and a set of pearl necklaces to Poppy, Jude, their father, had left his signet ring to Alfie and a pendant to Poppy.

They both took to Hogwarts like fish in water, them both getting through their first year at Hogwarts with the help of the headmaster who was their for them, their grandfather who was on the board of governors having asked him to look out for them. Alfie seemed to visit the professor more and more frequently as he grew, them sharing a bond that was father/son like. Alfie took to quidditch fondly, becoming his house seeker in his second year, which he had gotten from his father, the talent of quidditch. To this day, Alfie continues to wear the relics of his parents on a silver chain around his neck, never taking it off, him also remaining on the house team.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
They had won! They had won the Quidditch Cup! Adrenaline still pumped through his body as he made his way into the Great Hall, hearing the great uproar of people as banners flew, colors of streamers popped high, floating slowly to the ground. It was the best feeling he had ever had in a long time, Alfie loved the feeling, people came up to him, patting his back or coming up and saying congratulations as he entered with the rest of the team. He never meant to hit the boy, not so hard as to drop the quaffle, but it had given them the win, he himself had lost his balance when he fell into the boy. He smiled as he found a seat on his house table, pouring himself a goblet of pumpkin juice, taking a large swig of it. His attention was caught when he heard the young second year screaming, he could remember when he was a second year in his first final, he must have been scared, but Alfie had already said sorry and didn't want to interfere anymore.

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
It had been tiring that morning, not getting enough sleep wasn't helping with incredibly difficult day that seemed to be dragging on and on. Paperwork, in the chamber, more paperwork and a meeting with the Chief Warlock, then even more paper work. He was happy to be able to make his way down Diagon Alley for lunch, finding a small cafe he was happy to sit down, and hide away from anyone who would wish to bother him, such as pesky reporters asking for news. News that he was not aloud to give. He had had lunch, a sandwich with a cup of coffee that he always had, it was his usual when he came into the shop. It wasn't until he was heading out, to get back in time for his meeting with, well he wasn't sure, but he had an incline it was the Minister, only he couldn't be too sure. Reluctantly he left, climbing from his seat and buttoning up his suit jacket once more, he had to respectable. He was making his way down the street, nodding to Simon Appleby, smiling to Angela Simpson when he was pushed sideways. He didn't know who it was at first who was lying in a heap in the ground, it wasn't until she was yelling that he recognized the voice that haphazard almost everyday. He straightened out his suit jacket before offering out his hand, he wasn't a horrible person, not at all, only when she was rasping in his ear for news.
