Biography:

“Ma, Mohinder’s being obnoxious again.”

“Its not my fault you're a talking dictionary, nerd.”

“Well, its not my fault that you cant even pronounce dictionary, you benighted blockhead!”

“Merlin, Bhai… You’re such a nincompoop.”

Charlotte Mayflower raised a brow, turning to face her bickering sons that sat together on the kitchen counter; Peter, whisking at a bowl of cake batter, and Molinder unsuccessfully attempting to swipe a dollop of the sweet smelling goo.

“Mohinder, don’t call your brother a nincompoop.”

Slender fingers then began to knead at the dough that sat before her, framed by flour and specks of glittering sugar that seemed to effortlessly dance beneath the straying sunlight.

“But he smells like a poop.”

Peter paused, nearly dropping the bowl of batter that sat unwaveringly on his lap. Many thoughts criss-crossed within his mind and dark brows knitted together, if he did decide to do what his body would have much liked to do to his brother, Peter was sure he’d do something to upset his mother. So, as a simper developed upon rosy cheeks and Peter peered downwards, regaining a steady whisking motion before coughing slightly.

“Thats probably your own breath, Mo. I think I saw Rajesh drop your toothbrush in the loo.”

And as if on cue, a little dark haired boy bobbed around the corner. Seven years old and already pretty positive that he ruled the place, Rajesh gave his brothers a toothy grin which only indicated that something very suspicious had taken place. Rajesh Shaw was unmistakably the more rambunctious of the three children, remarkably intelligent, however patently more rebellious. The Shah children were typically seen as well behaved, even pleasant to be around at times. However brothers were brothers and mischief never seemed to trail far behind.

Mohinder’s gaze darted towards Peter, who meekly shrugged his shoulders.

“Like I said, I wouldn't be so lax with your belongings around Jes.”

Leaping down from the counter, Mo broke into a gallop towards the bathroom whilst Peter and little Rajesh burst into soft giggles and hiccups.

“Did you really, Jesi? You know not to touch your brothers belongings.” Charlotte spoke softly, a gently smile perched on her upturned lips.

“Why don't you go help your father outside with the horses?”

And with one last wave of her hand, Charlotte sent her children off towards the garden where they whipped around the corner. Rajen Shah had brought his sons up proper, they hardly spent much time indoors unless certain studies needed to be completed and since his boys were considered to be quite academic for their age, he wasn’t worried that they’d fall behind. His eldest son, Mohinder would be going to Hogwarts next year and both parents were positively thrilled.

However, whilst all three Shah boys were around, both Charlotte and Rajen kept them busy, particularly with the horses. When Peter’s grandparents emigrated to England, they brought along with them a heavy sum of wealth, as well as their prize bred Marwari stallion and mare, in hopes to continue the bloodline in England. Of course Rajen had developed a love for the horses at a young age and once he settled down with his wife, it wasn’t long until they had their own horses. Peter eagerly followed in his fathers footsteps. After his brother, Mohinder showed promise in his talent for riding, Peter desired to step into the saddle as well and once his father saw the thirst Peter had for riding, he allowed it.

Peter was five when his father presented to him a beautiful filly. It was custom in the Shah household that a child be given an untrained yearling, in hopes that the young one would gain a large amount of respect for the animal, along with patience and determination. Rajen Shah took training seriously and did not tolerate any cruelty or disrespect towards the horses. Peter learned his lesson rather quickly when he tried to ride his filly a tad bit early in her training. The naming of an animal was also considered to be rather sacred, and little Peter spent many early mornings pondering the name of his filly. It wasn't until he saw the raw untameable boldness in the filly’s step, did he discover a name for her.

He named the horse, Riyaaz, for the beauty and artistic wonder that shone from her eyes, veiled by thick eyelashes and intelligence.

In short, the boys had a rather charming childhood, however it was soon cut short after Charlotte got sick. Mohinder was away at Hogwarts when it happened and the boy was rushed from the castle to his little home in the meadow, where Peter and Rajesh remained attending their private schooling. Charlotte had always felt a strong inclination to teach her own children, and both her younger sons were happy to comply, even if Mohinder preferred the structured layout Hogwarts provided. After a time of unsteady footsteps and coughing fits, Charlotte was sent to rest.

She didn’t leave the bed after that.

It was something that seemed to ebb over the woman like a shroud of unease, spreading throughout the house and causing for even the littlest boy to feel worried. Peter sidestepped and whirled around his father during those times, nervously peering under furrowed brows at the storm brewing within the man. Once a husband that thrived on intellectual understanding and spiritual growth, now vibrated with a eerie enchantment and utter negativity. For even the most sacred magical spells and concoctions could not save their mother.

Charlotte Shah died that winter.

The three boys, distraught and drained of elation were shipped off to summer camp as quickly as their father could possibly find a train to deliver them.

And Peter was and always would be;

A boy in ruins.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Slytherin/Ravenclaw

Personality:

Peter Shah was born with a hunger for life and thirst for knowledge, acquiring a slight arrogant personality as a child. Peter knew precisely what knowledge and information he had against his peers and played his part well. Often expressing the need to broaden his vocabulary purely to acquire a new insult or two, in both English and Hindi. However, he lost his arrogance growing older, possessing a more humbled approach to other individuals, often finding them more boring than anything else. He thrived in playing mind games and possessed an uncanny ability to defend himself with mere words, this being a more arrogant direction was misplaced rather often to be replaced by a more disinterested sense of neutrality.

Studious and outgoing, Peter is rather stubborn in his own ideas and achieving goals. Determined to tear apart the seams of the world before complying to any rules, wise, yet unwilling to simply agree when the facts could be distorted. Again, seemingly aloof, Peter does understand boundaries and how far to exactly push and prod another character in his life. He will not goes as far as to hurt a individual to get his point across but will not stand to be tested or pushed around. Aggressive in some instances, Peter is regularly seen as a rather quiet soul with a passion for the arts and magical creatures.

But he’d never talk about himself. Courteous and sheepish in some instances, Peter comes off as far softer than his interior motives, as he isn’t quite the man of many words and would prefer to listen rather than talk, especially after the death of his mother. Currently, unpredictable and emotionally unstable, Peter is far from ready to make any new friends. His mood has darkened along with his humour and sarcasm. The young boy does not stray far from his brothers and prefers the company of a book before he’d choose another human.

He is in no state to leave his comfort zone.

Which is precisely why his father enrolled the boy in Hogwarts.

Appearance:

Dark and brooding, Peter has chocolate tinted eyes with thick lashes framing his more piercing gaze. His hair, often swept back and untidy is jet black and straight, hardly ever brushed. The Shah boy possesses a rather well structured frame built on regular farm work and chores. Peter isn’t strikingly tall or unusually short, merely standing at an average height and weight. Perhaps a tad on the lankier side, Peter is portrayed as more athletic and build than his brothers.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

Option 1

Peter strongly disliked the dungeons.

It wasn't only because it housed a vast variety of creepy crawlies, but it was the smell that truly bothered the boy. The musky aroma that dripped from the cobblestone flooring and concrete walls did not flatter the already underground earthy scent dripping with a sense of unfamiliarity and dampness.

And the dark, he really wasn’t fond of the dark.

But Peter wasn’t afraid either, he simply felt as though the walls would concave against him if he dared to breath or shrug his shoulders.

Which was precisely why he desired to move quickly and efficiently through the shaded walls.

"H-h-hello?"

He was stopped short in his errand, glancing back over his shoulder from the murky shadows.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?”

Biting down against his lip, Peter turned around to face the timid female slinking around in the shadows.

“Its disrespectful to bother the dead.”

Tilting his head ever so slightly to allow a strand of hair to dangle in his line of gaze, Peter growled.

“You never know if they might be listening.”
