Transfiguration

Year (pick two): 4th or 5th
Biography:

Aidan was born to the eldest son in the Lee family from a long line of wizards. Rumor has it that his great-grandfather once served at the hand of one of the emperors of China and had fled to Hong Kong first and then England after the fall of the Qin dynasty, bringing his extended family with him. He established a trading company in Liverpool and the business flourished.

The Lee family kept mainly to themselves. Jonathan, Aidan’s father, took over the business as the eldest son. He was a brilliant businessman and was able to bring the business to greater heights. He traded not only wizarding goods but also muggle goods at times. He trusted few muggles however, and the business was ran mainly by his siblings and relatives. The entire extended family lived on a large estate in the wizarding world.

Aidan was the eldest son in his family and the expected heir to the business. All the Lee’s children were homeschooled, under the tutelage Uncle Anthony, a brilliant wizard and his knowledge of straddled the western and eastern forms of magic. He also had a great interest in the world of Muggles and often challenged the young ones to learn outside the textbooks. Aidan was a bright child, quiet for his age. He enjoyed studying and devoted his time largely to scholastic pursuits and helping his father at the company. He spent little time on other things.

The time warp affected the Lees more than other wizarding families due to the nature of their trades. Jonathan was able to salvage what he could of the family business and estate. However the greatest impact on the Lee was its effect on the children’s tutor, Anthony. Anthony struggled to reconcile what he knew of the world. He also fell physically ill and started to spend more time alone in his room. Healers were sent for but little worked.

Concerned about Aidan’s education, his parents started to look for alternatives and found Hogwarts a worthy establishment. For the first time of his life, Aidan would be leaving his family for school. His previous education has prepared him well academically in certain subjects but lacking in other areas. Aidan was not sure if he would like Hogwarts. He has never been near that many people his age and it sounded awfully crowded. He will just have to wait and see.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Your pick.

Personality: Quiet and reserved, Aidan would probably be the last person you’d notice stepping into the classroom. His general reservation and appearance lead to an impression of gentleness and passivity. Aidan does not mind this at all. In fact, he encourages this. You learn a great many things being the fly on the wall. As such, few would expect the rare zingers that would come from Aidan. His younger sister was a lovely target to practice on, growing up.

He was not a malicious boy. He did not torture little kittens or strangle bunnies for entertainment. His younger sister was an exception. The more he liked a person, the harder he found it was to leave the person alone.

Aidan is kind, at times, but he is also rather unskilled when it came to social exchanges. Added to that is a distinct dislike in investing effort unnecessarily. Despite his intelligence, Aidan is often absentminded and easily distracted. Tangential at times.

Appearance: Raven-haired, pale, rather skinny. Tall (thanks to growth spurt), lanky. Wears glasses at times. He's usually dressed in conservative clothes.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Aidan decided that he did not understand Quidditch at the first school game he had attended. Neither did he understand the fervor that the school treated Quidditch. All you need to win is a good seeker and a few beaters to protect him or her from those violent balls. As such, he found it unnecessary to attend the games, finding it a much better choice to complete his research on the deathwatch beetle’s song at the library. He was on his way to his room, his hands full of materials when he noted the sounds from the Great Hall. The racket was echoing most unpleasantly down the hallways.

He paused, and turned into another hallway, hoping to avoid the masses. He had grown sick and tired of the where-were-yous and the you-should-have-been-theres. People don't seem to understand the fact that he would rather spend the time squeezing pus from the boils on a manrilla plant than watch a beater whack another player senseless. He walked quickly, hardly noticing the figure in-front of him, that is, till it started shouting at him.

“WHAT! Haven’t you ever seen a loser before?” Why don’t you just take a picture!”

Aidan stopped abruptly, surprised, the sudden motion causing his glasses to slide down his nose. He blinked once, twice at the altered vision field and squinted.

Before him stood a boy, dressed in Quidditch gear, eyes shining with tears, yelling. Aidan knew people got emotional at games, but this? He wrinkled his nose slightly when he noted the grimy and likely odorous clothes of the boy. He decided that the boy probably lost the game and was fairly upset. He wasn’t good when people get all teary and stuff. Should he say something to console him? Should he just continue walking? That seemed like a …

Aidan’s thoughts were suddenly derailed when noticed his field of vision was somewhat hampered by the placement of his glasses. It would be hard getting back to his room with them hanging off the edge of his nose. He grimaced, trying to get them up his face without the use of his hands as his arms were full of books. He tried but it didn’t work. He sighed.

“I’m sorry you feel upset but would you mind pushing my glasses up my nose please?” asked Aidan. “My hands are quite full and I’d really appreciate that.”
