Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Born in Scotland to a single mother, Zachary was raised on rags and little food. He had twelve brothers and sisters and was the eldest of them all and, as such, expected to take up the role of man of the household...since his father had never been the 'stay at home' type. So at the age of ten, he was working two jobs and helping his mother pay the rent of their shabby three bedroom hut of a home. It came as a surprise to everyone when he was invited to attend Eisenstab Hexengymnasium on his eleventh birthday.

Had the offer not come with an all-expenses paid tuition, Zachary's mother would have refused to let him go. As it was, she was unwilling considering her income was not enough to support the twelve other children. But a monthly stipend from the school and the promise that he would send money home whenever he could loosened her hold and she let him go without complaint. He used second-hand everything and was often picked on in school for being shorter than the rest; but he mastered magic quickly and efficiently, taking after his father in that regard.

After taking years of abuse for his Scottish burr and small stature, Zachary made the decision to transfer to Hogwarts. Life at the English school was much better and he was sorted into Hufflepuff where he found a home and friends to call his own. He always sent money, gifts and letters to each of his siblings and his mother, all of whom kept in loving touch with him...as best they could. He was devastated to learn, within the first month of his final two years at Hogwarts, that his mother and three youngest siblings had died in a fever that had overtaken the small village where he'd been born.

Sick with grief, Zachary retreated into a shell no one could break and graduated in that state. By that point, he'd secured the futures of his remaining nine siblings at Eisenstab Hexengymnasium and had stoically refuse counseling to take care of his grief. He locks it up, to this day, inside him and has never quite gotten over it. He stays in contact with his siblings though and hopes that, in the near future, they may visit or even come to live with him again.

He owns a size-able estate in Hogsmeade, having come into money after the death of his father and his own ascension to Head of the Lumen family. Soon after, he adopted a young Muggle-born, who so very resembled his deceased youngest sister, taking pity on the Southern girl who'd lost her parents in the time warp.

Zachary is a kind man, nice and naive to a fault, though he tends to say the wrong thing at the wrong time. He can be harsh when necessary, but it always pains him to do so and it's easy to read the emotions on his face. He's a pureblood, but he has compassion for all witches and wizards no matter what type of blood they possess.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
Zachary rather liked the snow.

He thought it was beautiful and so pure, the last touch of innocence in a world that could no longer claim to be such. He'd purposefully taken the long route home that night, simply so he could enjoy the beautiful weather...though he seemed to be the only one not hurrying on his way.

The pace of the world in which he lived was not something Zachary was accustomed to and it was something that had often bothered him. He was always the slower one...not in mind, but in body. He preferred to, as the Muggles said, 'stop and smell the roses'; taking time to appreciate the things that most overlooked.

Like the falling snow.

As it was, his internal musings on the snow and its purity were interrupted as a brute force collided with his wool-covered back and he stumbled forward, nearly slipping on the icy path.

He was abruptly thankful for the no-trip charm on his boots.

"I'm so sorry! This blasted snow

Zachary looked at the snow and then to the tinsel covered man, laughing slightly. "It's no problem sir." He replied politely, his Scottish burr thickening his tone. "Getting into the spirit of Christmas already..." He noted rather than asked, smiling far too pleasantly.

Everyone always instantly mistrusted his smile. No one actually believed that one man could be so kind, so complimentary and lack the ardor to stand up for himself. But Zachary was the epitome of all of these, learned from a life of being treated as inferior, despite his blood-status proclaiming otherwise.

He'd vowed never to intentionally or unintentionally make another person feel that way.

Application for Salem Institute

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Verity Cassandra

Birthday: March 23, 1927

Hometown: Nashville, Tennesee

Bloodline:  Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one): Charms

Year (pick two): 1st year, 2nd year

Biography:  I was born and raised in Tennesee and spent the first nine or so years of my life blissfully unaware of the existence of a magical community. It wasn’t until one fateful day, around May 3, 1936, when I was playing around with some friends from my school in our yard and had managed to climb up to the top of the old oak tree my parents planted when they were kids. I slipped on the uppermost branches and started to fall when, to my amazement, I did little more than float gently to the ground. My parents were just as shocked as we were and received a visit later that day from some sort of official, explaining to us what had happened.

My parents were happy for me of course and promised to support me throughout my education. Of course that all went to crap when they vanished and the rest of the Wizarding world, myself included, was pulled back into the 30’s. I wasn’t sure what to do but the official who’d introduced me to the magical world (I now know his name to be Zachary Lumen), took pity on me and allowed me to stay with him…at least for a while. Well it’s been two years and we’ve grown attached to each other so I doubt I’m leaving anytime soon. He explained the importance of applying to a magical school and so, Salem came to light and I figured I might as well go for it; I don’t have anything to lose regardless.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

Society Request: Rook Society

Personality: I’m a kind-hearted and trusting kind of girl with a Southern accent that’ll put a country star to shame. Despite losing my family and friends and being thrust into a society I know next to nothing about, I try to stay positive. I’ve been told that I trust too easily and am nice to a fault but I think it’s best to judge everyone as good and force them to prove themselves otherwise, rather than the other way around.

While I’m kind and trusting, I’m not a pushover and I’m quite intelligent. Perhaps I turn a blind eye when it comes to personalities but I won’t tolerate ignorance or the disrespect of knowledge. I’m quite quirky and unguarded; I tend to say exactly what’s on my mind so people regard me as blunt and sometimes even rude. I disagree; I simply state things as they are and those who are offended are often refusing to see the truth. I have quite the sense of humor and tend to joke when it’s inappropriate to do so; it’s my way of coping as I much prefer laughter to tears. That being said, I can be serious when called for and am actually quite easy to talk to. I’m loyal, trustworthy and boisterous, tending to butt in where I don’t belong regardless of the consequences; must be the redneck in me.

Appearance: I’m real tall, thanks to my daddy, and medium-sized; not too small, not too big. I’m pretty strong, having worked on my granddaddy’s farm for several summers and worked with the horses at that; those things are stubborn.  I have real long copper colored hair that’s normally in a messy braid down my back, ending about mid-thigh. My eyes are bright green with hazel rings around the center  and I sometimes wear glasses, though that’s mostly for reading and writing. I always have on a cowboy hat and boots regardless of my other clothes, and a cross necklace around my neck that my mother gave me.

I’m a bit stocky and broad; from my daddy’s side but my face is completely my mother. Thin and with long features, it’s a surprising contrast to the rest of my body. My eyes are huge and dominate my face and my mouth is small and pink, usually turned up into a bright smile. My nose is a bit twisted, as I’ve broken it a few times in tussles with the back-country boys. Both of my hands and feet are majorly calloused because I’ve spent so much time working and running around barefoot. I’m exceedingly tan, enough so that I could claim Native American heritage and be extremely believable, and I rarely burn in the sun.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

Verity was displeased at her current predicament but the bright smile she wore betrayed nothing of that nature. She was, currently, curled up in an armchair in the library of the Salem Institute, the table between herself and her…partner, covered with books on the Civil War. As much as she loved reading, she was nearly nodding off on her copy of The South Rebels: A Civil Conflict From the Northern View by Antwone Yolks. She’d studied this war ages ago in her primary school for advanced children.

It seemed as though the boy next to her, Simon as she recalled, wasn’t any more pleased about their progress than she was and he abruptly snapped his textbook shut and turned to her. Her smile was back as she looked up at him, but it faltered when she heard his words that, to her, sounded rather harsh; she hadn’t done anything to upset him.

“Look…” She drawled in her thick Southern accent, a tendril of her copper hair falling over her eye and ignoring her attempts to, impatiently, sweep it away. “I don’t know how ya’ll do it here but where I come from, we all do our part.” She said snippily, regretting her harsh tone a moment later despite the fact that he’d been rude first.

She took a calming breath and eyed the boy. “I really don’t mean to be rude but it’s obvious that we’re both bored and tired. There ain’t no more we can do tonight so why don’t we just head off. Get some rest and we’ll get back on it tomorrow.” She shut her book as well and yawned, stretching, cat-like, on the comfortable seat, her back and legs protesting the movement as they were locked into place.

When she stood she nodded at her partner, convinced that her point had been made; she wasn’t about to heap all the work onto his shoulders, she was brought up better than that. Perhaps she’d taken the words a bit too much to heart, but she did tend to wear her emotions on her sleeve. “Same time tomorrow then.”

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Payton Anther Rose

Birthday: September 9, 1927

Hometown: Alnwick, Northumberland; Britain

Bloodline: Halfblood
Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination
Year (pick two): 1st year, 2nd year

Biography: I was young, younger than most when I discovered my magical heritage; about seven years old when the initial phases started. I’d been kept in the dark, my wizard father having died when I was just a year old. My mother, fearing I’d be a dark witch like my father regardless of my lack of exposure to his ways, hid me away from my homeland in America, where she had hoped I’d blend in nicely with the children. However, I had all the issues that young magical children have at my age with covering up my magic and she was forced to admit that I did, in fact, carry wizarding blood. She took me back to Britain and pawned me off on my aunt, Veronica, saying that she couldn’t deal with this sort of thing again, not after my father.

My aunt practically raised me; I was, after all, only seven, with no parents. I was a quiet child, unusually sensitive to what seemed to be expected, wanted…even needed from me and acted in such a way to please whoever I deemed deserved my actions. I never received my own wand, as my aunt was very poor, and got my father’s old wand, a family affair with rare wood and a rare core. As it turns out, my father had requested it especially be given to me when I showed signs of magic, as was my automatic application to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, his old school. My aunt, who worked close to the castle as a barmaid, had brought me to the gates to look at it several times and I was utterly entranced by the magic I could feel whenever I got close to the place; I couldn’t wait to go.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Ravenclaw

Personality: Smart and quiet, I have a quick-silver tongue and a cunning personality worthy of a Slytherin but I treasure the acquiring and spreading of knowledge. I’m relatively good at the application of said knowledge, but that’s more in my blood than learned skill. That being said, I’d much rather write a report on the use of defensive magic, than demonstrate my capability before a crowd. I don’t have many friends and I tend to keep to myself but when I do connect with others, it’s for life. I’m very dedicated to those I care about and it would take nothing less than death to tear me from their sides.

I’m attuned to the thoughts and feelings of others and, while I don’t believe it’s a special skill, others disagree. I’m used to the simple things in life and have no patience for those who have money and no respect for their poorer counterparts. I also have an adamant dislike of bullies and those who use their status as a crutch or an advantage.

Appearance: I have short chopped black hair, the left side long around my chin and shortening as it goes around my head so that by the time it reaches the right side, the hair only comes to the tip of my ear. It is currently a jet black, but I have the tendency to alter the color several times, whenever the mood strikes me. I prefer to do it the Muggle way, with messy dies, because it allows me a chance to escape for a few hours. I’m very skinny, almost anorexic-looking, but I don’t mind it that much; I’m sure if I get in, Hogwarts will help me with that. My skin is pale, almost translucent and I have bright, intensely blue eyes. I’m rather short, only about 5’3’’ with a square-shaped jaw and a wide forehead. My nose is small in comparison to my face and my eyes are set deep into my face giving me a constantly tired look that runs in my family

Payton frowned as she settled into her seat in the Great Hall, shifting nervously and fingering her wand that was tucked protectively inside her robes. She’d been here about a week and the grandiosity still freaked her out and caused her to jump at every turn. House-elves cleaning up the dormitories, self-service at all meals and an utter lack of discipline for staying up too late at night…it was almost too much for her! Perhaps it was just her upbringing shining through but the dark-haired witch was waiting at every turn for everything to fall through; for the catch to appear.

Her anxiety was abruptly forgotten when sudden laughter and the loud sound of chanting. Her head lifted, and then her eyes narrowed as she took in the scene. Perhaps the chanters hadn’t meant to hurt that boy’s feelings, but she could tell, by the way he stomped angrily from the room, that they had. Regardless, it didn’t look as if he had anyone willing to go after him and comfort him, she’d just have to take up the job herself.
Slinging her back over her shoulder impatiently and nodding to her housemates who gave her strange looks, she swept after the angry Quidditch player, pausing to glare over at the chanters. Her footsteps echoed loudly in the hallway as she followed after him, nervously trying to find a way to interrupt his obviously angry tirade and announce herself.

The job was taken up for her as he whirled and spat angrily at her, causing her to startle backward and against the wall. Her eyes widened in surprise and then narrowed slightly in anger before she settled on a calm and empathetic look.

It took her a moment to realize what he was talking about: Quidditch. The match earlier had been a close one and, she guessed, he’d been the reason the reigning champs had lost their title. She had missed the match, the first one she’d missed thus far, in order to finish up an essay, so she’d heard second-hand about the loss. She stared at him, considering and patient, before she strode up closer to him and laid her hand on his shoulder.

“Well that’s one way to address a comforter…” She said with a small smile, holding up a hand to stave off any apologies or further comment. “I’ll only take a picture…if you’ll sign it for me…James right?” She chuckled and leaned against the wall beside him. “I’m Payton.”

So I have an established character and I've applied to Beauxbatons but I had a question...if I wanted to apply to the other schools, would I need an additional character for that or could I use the same one? And if I do need another one, must I create another account?

Application for Beauxbatons Academy

Name: Andrea Focoso
Birthday: September 30,  1927
Hometown: Eze, French Riviera – Cote d’Azur
Bloodline:
Unknown
Magical Strength (pick one):
Transfiguration
Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination
Year (pick two): 6e Annee, 5e Annee
Biography:
My name is Andrea Focoso, an inherited family name with roots in Italian as ‘focoso’ is the Italian word for ‘fiery’. I currently live with my father, Lebredus Focoso, my mother having been killed a long time ago in an auror raid. For a long time, we lived in London, where my mother worked as an auror, before returning to the town of my birth, Eze. I was a bit of a late bloomer; my family thought I was a squib for a long time. When my powers did come, they came with a vengeance that surprised even me. My father currently is a little known, but skilled wandmaker; we live in a loft above his shop just on the edge of the French Riviera, barely within the outskirts of Eze. I have discovered a propensity for Transfiguration, Defense and Charms though I have little skill with Divination and Herbology.
I’ve never really known much of my family but they came flocking once my powers came in and seemed to be much more eager to claim my relation once they learned of my particular power in the aforementioned branches of magic. I lived a life that spoke of betrayal by those closest to me and being used by those I held close in my heart. This is why I have such a cold demeanor and a nearly impossible to crack shield around my true personality.

Ecole Request:
Humanities
Communaté Preference:
Renault
Personality:
I am an intelligent, reserved and very personal witch with a bit of a silver-tongue and a tendency to speak in riddles; though I usually am unaware of this until it is pointed out. I have no patience for people who consider themselves above other or who take for granted the abundance of knowledge made available to us. Some people would describe me as cold, shy and too smart for my own good but I like to say I am blunt, truthful and speak only when my words are worth saying. I’ve been told I’m a bit too fierce with my cold temper and nearly unbreakable façade.
Deep inside though, I am a warm and caring with an empathy for my fellow humans that scar me if I let it run rampant. I have a quick temper, though I can control it pretty well, but when I am insulted or an insult is directed to my family or friends, I tend to lose it. I love animals and creatures, almost to a fault and I like to believe there is good in everyone, despite any rumors floating around.
Appearance:
I have light brown hair with red highlights, deviating from the norm in my family with the typical black or dark brown hair. My eyes are a bright golden, almost caramel color, with flecks of obsidian reminiscent of my potion making cousin. I have rather tan skin that only gets more tan in the sun rather than burning and a light, almost invisible dusting of freckles across my cheeks and over my arms. I am tall, almost six feet and a bit rounded, but flexible and willowy. My lips are thin, but seem fuller when I smile, which is rare. They are a deep red, almost unnatural; I’ve been accused of using rogue but I don’t wear make-up. My face is small, my eyes close-set and large in my face with a pixie-like nose and a sharp, pointed chin. I wear rectangular glasses that give me a stern look whenever I glare and my hair falls slightly in my face, red strands over my eyes.
→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
You come across this post on the site. Please as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions!
Head held high and back almost uncomfortably straight, Andrea flowed into the chatter-filled dining hall, pausing just inside the entrance to admire the overwhelming assimilation of students that had accumulated within magically enhanced room. After an impatient nudge from behind, in response to which she turned an impressive glare on the culprit, the brunette opted to step further into the room, frowning slightly as I looked around. Everyone, it seemed, had grouped off according to their interests or their knowledge of each other, a fact that disappointed the girl slightly; she’d hoped the Academy’s students would be all-encompassing when it came to their peers.
With a slight shrug, she stepped further into the hall, no longer blocking the train of students behind her who had been grumbling slightly but had been too afraid to address her at that first irate glare. Andrea had moved here recently; her father having picked up their lives after her mother’s death to return them to France and purchase his old wand-working shop.
A sigh escaped the usually silent girl as she strode into the hall, ignoring curious glances from the long-time students and choosing a seat directly in the center of the room where she could examine the large, colorful crowd from all angles.
Setting her bag, filled to the brim with nearly every book it could carry and more, beside her on the seat, Andrea selected one of the topmost tomes, a book of Gaelic Faerie Tales.
Andrea’s moment of peace was interrupted by the sound of an unknown female catching her foot on the bag of a student who was seated across the aisle from her. Looking up, she watched impassively as an unknown blonde was coated from head to toe in whatever soup the falling girl had been holding. A slight smirk graced the normally disinterested girl’s thin features as she watched the ensuing chaos; the dirty girl jumping from her seat and cursing colorfully in a language she recognized as Tagalog but could not interpret due to her lack of knowledge in the interpretation of said language.
After a moment though, the rowdy crowd settled, the first girl, the one who tripped having blushed and sat down in the far corner and the other girl having stormed from the hall, followed by her sympathetic group of sycophants. Andrea lost interest and returned to her novel, losing herself in the world of the Fae.
