Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Elizabeth Marques

Birthday: September 28th, 1938

Hometown: Living in Godric's Hollow, born in São Paulo.

Bloodline:
Muggleborn / Halfblood / Pureblood / Unknown

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): First or second.

Biography:

Elizabeth Marques is the only child of Vicente and Morgana Marques - zoologist and herbologist researchers, respectively. Born into a rich pureblood family from South America, she has never found herself in need of nothing - at least, that was until they died in 1945, in accident during one of their travels. After this, some political struggles in her country, which her family was more than mildly involved, made that she somehow ended up in a muggle orphanage for a year, until a friend of the family finally found her and smuggled her out of the country. Illegally.

It has been four years, since Lizzie started living with Aunt Abby - a reclusive and eccentric writer - in Godric's hollow, and life has been peaceful till now. The older woman can be quite absent and certainly not suited to raise a child, but Liz likes her anyway, and has long learned how to take care of herself. Most of her days are spent out of the house and the small village they live, but her caretaker don't seem to mind her wandering alone so far from their house. When she's not doing her "explorations", she's studying, or playing wth her only friend: a black feline called Rudo, whom has been at her side since before her parents dead.

Also, she's utterly terrified from the idea of going to Hogwarts - actually, there may have been an small misunderstanding with Abbigail, who believed the girl should have  board last year, just to receive a magnificent, and first in Lizzie history, tantrum that involved the girl hiding under bed for two days in a roll till the woman told her she could stay at home and keep with the private for tutoring for another year. Regardless, the older woman had been wrong in her maths - wich actually means she had totally forgot about the girl age and birthday. But the damage had already been done.

Recently, an older kid had come to live with them - a very distant cousin from france. Since them, they bicker the entire time they are in the same room (but one can dare to say they are found of each other.).

House Request: Ravenclaw

Personality: Had this not been 1950, and was Lizzie  born a muggle, she would probably be diagnosed in someplace between Aspergers and the spectre. This being said, it's clear she doesn't deal well with human interations - sometimes seeming to be rather aloof and even outright gloomy. This doesn't mean that she doesn't crave company or don't feel lonely, at all. She need steadiness, a routine, and don't know how to deal with sudden, abrupt changes.

Her background also doesn't help much, since her parents had choosen to not expose their daughter to the constant bickering and pettyness of the social life of the elite until she was older, the girl was raised in a redome of glass - and when that redome was brutally shattered, so was she. Lizzie is also not used with the presence of other children.

While living in the manor of her family, she was surrounded by books, music, and two parents that could spend an entire day discussing about their thesis - so yes, she is a glorified bookworm, not so say a small prodigy. Books were also her refugee, and she has always incredible grateful for the walls of her Aunt house being pilled with them.

The girl doesn't want to go to Hogwarts - unfortunately, the concept of a boarding school remeber her too much of that year at the muggle orphanage, and she doesn't has many good memories of that time.

Appearance: Elizabeth has always been shorter than most kids her age, barely 3'11" - her growing spurt still didn't hitted - and her limbs are slim and petite, with delicate face bones. Regardless of her being outside most of her time, she's still rather pale. Her hair is long, untamed - and therefore always caged in twin braids at each side of her head - and with the same pitch black tone of her eyes. Sometimes, a plant can have more facial expression than her.

Lizzie was starting to get worried.

Rudo had been quietly and lazily resting on her lap during breakfast, taking small tid bits of her food one moment or another, till the little devil started running after an small grey shadow. A rat, she supposes. The girl couldn't help but feel as if betrayed, her feline friend quickly forgetting about her in favor of a small snack.

She still hadn't came on terms with the idea of the board school - despise already being in it. It wasn't bad per se, but this didn't mean she had started to like the place. Sure, the castle was beautiful and enormous - more than certainly full with spots she would love to explore and hide. Only that she couldn't - they are so full of rules. For everything. It was almost as if she was back the orphanage again - but maybe the girl was being melodramatic, since Hogwarts was far more comfortable.

Not to say that some parts are not so bad. This place, for example - Lizzie had always loved flowers. Probably because of her mother. She was careful to not accidentally step in one of those little darlings, searching row after row in the garden. Yet, Rudo was in no place to be seem. The girl was almost giving up when she heard:

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

The raven haired girl stopped in her tracks, listening and looking at the scene close to her carefully. If her friend had manage  to eat up someone's else pet...Well she would be sorry, but there was nothing to be done. She frowned her eyebrows when she could see the devastation the boy had caused after troting at the poor flowers - and the disgusting way he was cleaning his nose.

"Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

"It's also not polite to wipe one's nose in one's sleeve." the girl said with with a frown, before looking mournfully at the boy mess "Or to step at those flowers so carelessly." She eyed him sullenly, taking the boy acts as an offense to herself. Yet, maybe he could know something about Rudo." I'm looking for my cat, did you see him?"

Biography: (100 words minimum.)

The Marques are one of the richest and most purebred families in the Brazilian territory, and Vicente met the young Morgana Lovecraft when she made a brief exchange for Castelobruxo: the school of magic and witchcraft of the South American continent. Together, they discovered a passion for herbology and zoology. Together, they explored, studied and cataloged numerous specimens from his country. They married in 1936.
In 1938 Elizabeth Marques was born. A pale, quiet thing with her father's black hair and eyes. From an early age she was a shy child - but inclined to trickery in the shadows. Her tutors considered her a small prodigy: she learned to read at the age of three, at five she played the violin. Her best friend is her black cat: Rudo.
In 1945, Vincente and Morgana died in a tragic accident with a Boitatá - an incredible but terribly dangerous creature - as they gathered data for their new book. Since then, Lizzie and Rudo have lived with her mother's sister: Aunt Abbigail Lovecraft - a woman as introverted as Elizabeth, and eccentric as the girl had never seen.
Godric's Hollow was not that different from Sao Paulo, but Lizzie still misses her real home. Before, she dreamed of being a great potioneer - now, she don't know what she want.

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

Lizzie frowned, the girl was being rude and too noisy - indeed, all the children there were like that. But the park was pleasant, she had to admit - the old oak tree on which she was resting  gived the perfect shade for good reading. It was even a bit like some great estates in some country citys of Sao Paulo - with the old coffee farms . Rudo also seemed to like it, the little demon torned between hunting small creatures or lying on his owner's legs.
"-No. Thank you. "Elizabeth didn't even lift her eyes from the book to speak to the girl.
Lizzie was not getting along with the other kids, but that was expected.
Dad had always said she was too mature for her age - an old hag inside the body of a child. Maybe it was true, Dad hardly ever made a mistake. More children began to arrive in Godric Park - noisy, dirty. Something hit her head - a kind of ball, she was sure.

That was enough.
She closed her book, wiped the dirt from her white dress, and followed the way home. Rudo following her like a haunt. Aunt Abbigail had said something about orange biscuits over breakfast. Lizzie hoped she had not burned them. Again.
