Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Finny Summers

Birthday: November 14th, 1935

Hometown: Hogsmeade

Bloodline: Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): First (preferred), second

Biography:
The boy sat sideways on his bed, appreciating the air and sunlight entering his room through the open window. His bedroom was small, which was to be expected in an orphanage. It still had everything he needed though, and Finny wasn't complaining. It was the room he had grown up in after all. For about seven years he had made it his own, and that was certainly showing. Marks on the wall logged his steady growth, drawings he had made over the years brought colour to the walls, and a sharp observer would even notice marks on the floor from years of hiding his contraband behind the desk.

To think that he would soon be seeing less of this room seemed crazy, but it was true: stacked on a pile of books was his letter, the one he had been looking forward to for years now.

In fact, most of those books under the letter were old ones borrowed from his unofficial sister, ones about magical creatures such as dragons and other things a child might find exciting. He couldn't wait learning more about them at the castle, especially after all the stories he'd been told.

Actually, Hogwarts didn't sound like it would be vastly different to the children's home. Just bunch of children in a large building, living and learning in the same place. And it probably had the same old rules as well. Be on time, no running in the hallways, and certainly no leaving your bed at night. He definitely knew how to follow those by now, or get away with breaking them when he wanted to.

At least the lessons taught at Hogwarts promised to be much more interesting.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request:
I'd say probably Gryffindor. ^^

Personality:
Some would call it stupidity. He prefers creativity. Either way, Finny is very curious and not afraid to try new ideas, and he doesn't usually stop trying until he reaches his goals.

Although he has issues with forming attachments, his confident cheerfulness leaves him quick to make new friends. He is always interested in the opinions of those around him, but is unlikely to let it influence his own. Usually quick to forgive, Finny isn't used to having a lot of enemies, but get on his bad side and he will not hold back.

He particularly likes the outdoors, especially when it's cold out. He enjoys the violence of the heavy storms, and likes the calm view of a cold winter; in fact, he would take 'bad' weather over summer temperatures any day.

Appearance:
Below his dark hair sit two brown eyes. He is pretty content with his those, and they are a trait he likes to imagine to have been inherited from his parents. He is a bit short for his age, and would love to be just a little taller - but with any luck, that should happen over time.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

(option 2)

It didn't bother him. Sure, it was dark, damp and poorly decorated, but it wasn't nearly as bad as they had told him it would be. It was kind of exciting, even, finding out where all those hallways went.

What did bother him was that one tile that was slightly higher than the rest. Between his quick pace and his distracted gaze he didn't see it until it was too late, and it sent him to the floor. He sat upright, scowling at the stone as if that would make it feel guilty.

At least there had been nobody to see him fall. He had asked a few of his friends to join him, but weird looks and excuses were all he got in return. He shouldn't be surprised, the dungeons weren't the most inviting part of the castle. Finny wouldn't rest until he had seen every corner of it though, so he had set out on his own.

Who knew, he might end up finding a hidden passage, or even someone equally adventurous to make friends with. Someone who would join him for the next one. Speaking of which - he could swear he heard someone call out right then.

Intrigued, he stood back up, and turned the corner into the corridor he thought the voice came from. Sure enough, there was someone up ahead; still making herself heard.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

It was a name he thought he'd heard before. And if he was right, she was calling one of the ghosts! Then why did she seem so frightened? It looked like whispering 'boo' could be enough to send her running right now, and the ghost wasn't even there yet. He took a few intentionally loud steps to make himself heard before he responded.

"It's just me. Hello!" He said in his friendliest tone.

She didn't seem to be the brave explorer he had been hoping to find. Then again, what she lacked in bravery was made up for in looks, and he didn't hesitate to try find out what her intentions were. Sure, he thought, I'll be your hero.

"You look a little lost. Is everything alright?"

Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Although Finny does not always show it, he is quite a cheerful person. He's shy, but usually willing to make friends- If they don't scare him away, that is.
Finny is a curious child and, if he decides someone can be talked to, is not afraid to ask someone pretty much anything that he can think of.
If there's one thing he loves, it is exploring, but unfortunately, he can't do that much. Lucky for him, he doesn't mind staying inside either, as long as his surroundings are quiet.
His muggle parents both vanished when he was two, leaving him to grow up in St. Mungo's orphanage. Finny is only just starting to know of the existance of magic, but he has no magical capabilities yet.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

Ironically, Finny did not enjoy summer. He preferred the cold winter air over the burning rays of the sun. But he'd survive. He wasn't going to be indoors anytime soon, anyways; The child had wandered off further than he had before. He didn't even know how he could get back.. But someone would come pick him up. He knew they would. It always happened. He frowned slightly, and decided to settle in the shade of a large oak tree.
So now what? His short legs were too tired to explore further today.. Maybe he should just watch? He did not have to think about it that long.

"You!"

Finny looked up, his gaze quickly finding the source of the call. He was surprised to find that it had been a little girl that was calling him out. Perhaps it was the way she had said it, but Finny had expected someone a bit older.. Perhaps because he'd recognized that tone. It was the same one that had called him out before, when he had wandered off. Last time, it was followed by a rant on how he should not have been outside.. And something to do with that red thing, too.
He was relieved to hear that it was for a different reason, this time. A much more enjoyable one.

"...Do you want to play?"

The answer was simple. Yes, yes he did want to play! He didn't have a lot of friends, so he didn't play that much. But with her, though? He didn't even know her! He hesitated, but decided to accept the offer. What else was he going to do? He gave Janey a small nod, followed by his answer. "Sure, I'll play." Finny pushed himself back onto his already tired legs, and offered the girl a smile. "What do you want to play then?"
