Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Darren Mun-Baek

Birthday: May 13, 1949

Hometown: London

Bloodline:
Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): 1st or 2nd

Biography: Darren is the youngest child of three belonging to Han Mun-Baek, and Ruth (née Crowley) Mun-Baek. With his mother being a witch, and his father a muggle, finds himself born between two worlds some would think difficult to navigate through, but having two older brothers; both wizards as well, can make growing up like this somewhat easier. His parents work as peddlers has the family used to moving around in a nomadic state, yet this has never impeded on Darren’s ability to call a new setting his home. However, this did make Darren a bit envious of kids he’d come across who had a steady home to always go back to. So when his acceptance letter to the esteemed Hogwarts had arrived, the boy was all too excited to find a place that required him to stay in one place longer than a few months.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Gryffindor or Hufflepuff (just not Slytherin >.<)

Personality:
Tell us a bit about your character’s personality (likes, dislikes, fears, etc.) What are they like on a good day versus a bad one? Is your character particularly cheerful? Do they hate sunlight? Darren loves anything that shines bright in the light. Gold, gems, jewelry, the boy is beaming if the item’s gleaming. Oftentimes he would have to be given a gift as an incentive for people to get him to do what they want: “what’s in it for me?”, being one of his favorite lines to use. Growing up with older brothers, and parents whose business was to sell whatever caught the best price has made Darren very (almost overly) possessive of his things. His love of luxury goes hand in hand with his dream to have the money and influence for his family to never feel the need to move city to city again.

Appearance:
Briefly describe your character's appearance (hair color, build, stature, etc.) What effect does it have on their personality? For example, does the shy Ravenclaw girl secretly dye her hair black because she hates her natural blonde? Does the curly-haired Gryffindor use charms to hide his freckles? Darren has soft skin that is a bit abnormal even for someone his age. He’s extremely sensitive about this, and will shout at anyone who makes a note of it, even if he’s given a compliment. In his downtime, he’s usually seen carrying a binder of neatly organized wizard cards he’s collected from chocolate frogs.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Darren had found himself lost for quite some time now. With all the stairs and hallways, he had no clue how he ended up outside. “Where is the Great Hall? Was it the first or second right down the corridor? Or was it the left?”he complained before letting loose a sigh. He thought of asking for help but that was at the same moment he noticed picked flowers being tossed into the wind.

It doesn’t take a genius to see what the upper year student was doing wasn’t normal, but since it didn’t involve him, Darren tried to turn away and keep his course straight towards the Great Hall. When he heard the sneeze however, he couldn’t help but look at the source of the germ factory. If it already wasn’t bad enough that the guy tossed dirt all over his robes, the idiot wiped his filthy nose on his sleeve like a baby. It would’ve been so gross had it not been so funny in the first place. Darren really expected better from someone so much older than he was.

Then the fool tried to look cool by asking what the boy was looking at. Did he not know what he was doing? Was he under some curse that somebody put him under for revenge? ‘I just want to go get a snack’, he thought. Hoping he could just be left alone after witnessing such embarrassment, Darren turned away quickly, and went back on his route.

Hi Darren, welcome to the site!

Your application looks great so far, there's just one small thing we'll need you to edit before we can get you accepted.

In your RP sample, you have Darren walk away at the end. For the samples, we ask that you treat them as real threads with Hugh being a 'real' character with a player. If this were a real thread, having Darren walk away with no interaction wouldn't give Hugh's player much to work with when responding. If you could edit this a little to maybe add in some dialogue, or, if this isn't Darren's style, you might have him look disgusted/worried/annoyed/anxious to get away (an expression would give Hugh something to respond to), then this would resolve the problem. If you want to end of Darren turning away, that's fine, too! Just delete the last phrase ' and went back on his route' to show that he's still in the scene!

Once you've made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. Thanks!
cherry lips, crystal skies
i could show you incredible things

stolen kisses, pretty lies
you're the king, baby, i'm your queen

Head of Ravenclaw
schoolbag in hand, she leaves home in the early morning
waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile
I watch her go with a surge of that well-known sadness
and I have to sit down for a while
