Biography:

Elias doesn't really remember his parents. They died when he was very young of dragon pox, leaving him and his sister to live with their aunt and uncle on the Isle of Skye. He's been told stories of his parents his whole life, but never really felt a real connection with them, though he figures that they've affected his whole life. They are his parents, after all, and genetics will out in the end. But he's always felt more connected to his aunt and uncle, and especially to his older sister and the animals that also lived on the farm on the Isle of Skye.

The youngest of two, Elias has always looked up to his big sister. Sure, his aunt and uncle are fantastic and he’s been told time and time again that his parents loved him very much, but Calix is the person he always looks to when he needs anything. He figures that she needs him too, though. Someone has to make sure that she doesn’t do something stupid, and as the less risky, more aware, and more cautious of the siblings, he balances his admiration with being unafraid to step in when things get a little dangerous.

But don’t worry, he’s not going to ruin your fun. In fact, some of his sister’s adventurousness has worn off on him after many years of being dragged along. He’ll just be sure to come prepared with all necessary supplies and a plan of how the adventure will go. Not to mention, lots of snacks.

Life on a farm and distillery has meant that Elias never turns down an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. He’s always been easy going and eager to befriend anyone he happens across, regardless of age or station. If you’re ever looking for someone to join you for just about anything, Elias is your guy.

But other people aren’t always around and able to hang out, so he’s learned to entertain himself as well. Creatures of any sort always make for good company and seem to respond to him well. He also loves adventure stories, playing the trumpet (the loudest instrument he could find), riding and training horses, or following Quidditch on the wireless.

Just don’t ask him to cook or make potions. You’re liable to have an explosion on your hands. And maybe don’t ask him to go on adventures in the dark. Ever since his parents died, he’s been nervous about not being able to see in front of him. You never knew what was lurking there.

It’s also advisable that you don’t try to get too deep with Elias. A callous individual since his parents’ deaths, he’s always avoided the touchy-feely stuff and never been good at handling emotions of any sort. Thankfully, as a kid, this doesn’t come up too much. When he’s older, there’s a chance of this being more of an issue. He’ll stick to his hedonistic tendencies in the meantime.

Roleplay:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trudged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo-choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

Elias was so. Dang. Bored.

Calix was away at school, his aunt and uncle were busy doing who-knows-what on the farm (it didn’t have to do with his animals, so he didn’t really care), and everyone else he knew was occupied with something or other that either he couldn’t participate in or he just wasn’t interested in. He had some chores on the farm that he could have been doing, but he really just wasn’t in the mood. The animals were taken care of, and that’s all that really mattered.

So he’d wandered away from his family’s land, hoping to find someone who would be willing to play. There weren’t enough kids around the distillery. He needed to talk to his uncle about that. Maybe they could hire some new people who had kids his age for him to play with.

He was in the middle of working out this plan when a voice pulled him from his thoughts. ”You! Do you want to play?”

He looked up surprised at the harshness of the girl’s voice. Did she want to play, or did she want a fight? Elias honestly didn’t care. She didn’t look that far off from his age, and he really wanted someone to play with. He’d fight if he had to.

“Sure!” He said, a grin pulling on his lips. He caught sight of the broom sticking up from the terf near her. “Do you have an extra broom or should I run home - it’s only about ten minutes away - and grab one from there?”

Or did she even want to play on brooms? She currently had one, but that didn’t mean that she necessarily had her heart set on playing a flying game.

“Or what did you have in mind?” He asked, figuring it best to cover all his bases before making the long trip home.
