Hi Hailey! Your application looks great so far. There's actually only one more thing I'd be interested in knowing. It looks from her profile that Hailey is American - why would she be attending Hogwarts (all the way across the pond!), rather than one of the American wizarding schools? What brings her to Britain? It's unlikely that American wizards would know much about schools in other countries, as wizarding schools are regional (see our FAQ for a list of what magical schools exist within our universe). However, some characters have viable reasons for attending school in other countries. For example, Izzy here was born in New York, but her father was from England and she eventually moved there to live with him. I'd love to know how Hailey came to know about and attend Hogwarts. Thanks! - Izzy

Hi there Dimitri! Your application looks like it's coming along really well. The only thing I'd like to see in his bio is a little more about who Dimitri is. You've told us a lot about the details of his background, but I'd like to know how he feels about his magical ability, what his family does, how Dimitri dealt with the death of his mother, his relationship to his father...any or all of these things will help add some depth to Dimitri's bio, help us to get a better idea of your character for sorting, and will help you to reach the required word count for Dimitri's requested year, as right now you're just a little bit shy.
Once you have a new draft, please go ahead and post it here, and we'll get you all accepted.
Thanks!
- Izzy

Hi Anneleike! Your app is looking great! I just have a couple of quick questions: - I'm kind of confused about Annelieke's use of accidental magic. Usually accidental magic is accompanied by some kind of emotional reaction to something that causes the magic to shoot out in one, uncontrolled burst, and usually accidental magic is something minor. For example, young children have been known to levitate their toys. Harry Potter used to grow his hair back after his aunt had cut it. Also, even though Harry's relatives were really awful to him, the worst thing he ever did was inflate his aunt a little bit. I'd like to know a little more about what was happening to Annelieke to cause accidental magic to happen, and maybe see it toned down a little bit to be more in line with the books?
- Also, this is just a minor thing, but it's kind of important - a lot of times in your RP sample, you use the future tense (i.e., "she'd," "she would"). Just as a reminder, our RP posts should all be written in past tense (i.e., "she had," "she did").
If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM and ask! Thanks! - Izzy

Hi there, Amelia! First of all, welcome to Hoggies! It looks like your application is off to a great start. There's just one more thing I'd like you to consider before we get you all accepted: our universe recently experience a Time Warp that caused a lot of problems for Muggleborns. Specifically, this: All that was magic had slid back in time - leaving the muggles and all the muggle innovation behind. This meant that muggleborn (or muggle-related) sons and daughters found themselves separated from their parents without explanation - and now all the newspapers were declaring that it was January 1st, 1937. Meant that a lot of Muggleborn children were suddenly without families. How did this Time Warp affect Amelia? What happened to her and her siblings after the Warp? If you could address this in your bio, that would be lovely, and then we could get you accepted! If you have questions about the Warp, there's a great guide here, and you can always feel free to PM me or another staff member if you need help. Thanks! Isabelle Valentine, Head of Ravenclaw

Hi Elsa! First of all, welcome to Hoggies! Your application looks like it's off to a good start, but there are a couple of small things I'd like some clarification on before we get you all accepted. Mainly, I'm just curious as to why Elsa thinks her parents were murdered. You included the Time Warp, which is wonderful! I'm just having a hard time following how Elsa came to that conclusion in light of the information we have available about the Warp, since the Warp wasn't triggered by a desire to "take out" any one wizard or family. I'd really love to know more about Aunt Josephine in general - how is she related to Elsa? Whose aunt is she? Why did she disappear when Elsa went to catch the train? You don't have to answer all of these questions, but it's something to consider in fleshing out your background a little! Also, this is a minor thing, but it seems like in your RP sample, Elsa thinks that injured soldiers would be house and treated in the Hospital Wing. The Hospital Wing is actually more for injured and sick students - like the school nurse's office - while injured wizarding soldiers would be treated at St Mungo's. Just something to keep in mind! If you could clarify Elsa's history just a little bit, that would be great. You can edit your original post or add revisions here, and we'd be happy take another look! Also, if you need help with how the Warp works, feel free to PM me or another staff member and we'll get you sorted. Thanks! Isabelle Valentine, Head of Ravenclaw

Whether you add more or redo it is up to you! One thing to consider in your decision is that in 1937, our universe experience a "time slide," in which the Wizarding world slid back in time from 1973 to 1937. The Muggle word, however, did not. Luke's parents would have disappeared and Luke would have been orphaned - unless Luke and his parents were in a magical area (such as Diagon Alley) at the time of the warp, in which case they would have slid back with the rest of the Wizarding world. There's a great guide about the Time Warp plot available, which should answer most of your questions, but if it's confusing - and we know it can be! - please feel free to a PM a member of staff, or catch one of us on private chat. Thanks!
