Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Marco is most often described as ‘the boy with the microphone’, as that is usually the first thing people see, or at least the first thing they take note of. If they really looked, they might see his kind eyes or his dimples or the way the freckle on his lip stretched when he smiled.

His microphone, in fact, was the last thing Marco wanted people to see but he knew he didn’t have a choice. On at exactly 11:52pm on the 21st September 1951, Marco entered the world screaming as any baby would do. It was only after multiple nights of constant screaming that couldn’t be sated, that the doctors ran tests and found that he, Marco , had moderate hearing loss in both ears. The doctors blamed it on the fact that he was born premature by almost a full three months and the condition hadn’t been picked up on due to worries about keeping his heart beating and his tummy full.

At age five, the boy looked like any other average kid his age - the height, the weight. He developed averagely which, with the help of his sister and father, included speech and socialisation. Any little speech slurs or mistaken sounds weren’t taken on by him anyways. The only thing that tipped people off was the microphone. Strapped to his chest or of someone nearby, the wires that ran from the little machine to the plugs in his ears, it wasn’t normal but it was Marco.

His headphones were a useful barrier for him that he could control. He might not be able to have any effect over his stupid ears but he could with his transistor, whether it be hidden in a corner so he could listen to secrets being whispered in the halls or to be turned off entirely in order to block everyone out. He had a habit of pretending to be fully deaf when he didn’t want to answer something, though this didn’t work on his dad… Dang it.

Marco has a great relationship with his younger sister, Olive. After his tricky birth, their mother had gotten pregnant just a mere while afterwards and then Olive was born. The same school year, a close age gap and unfortunately, the death of their mother - it all meant that the two kids were close and relied on each other. She was his best friend and he hoped he was hers too. Richard, their dad, ensured that a woman could come round to their flat twice a week as the kids were growing up to teach all three of them sign language. It was hard and Rick struggled with it more than the kids but they all have at least a basic understanding of the language.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

He hadn’t planned on going out today.

Then again, he was six so his days weren’t really planned. As far as he knew - which wasn’t always much as he didn’t like paying attention to many things - they were going to the daycare until daddy got home from work and picked them up.

At the daycare, it was usually noisy and busy with the ages involved but Marco was seven now! He was big enough to sit in the corner and do a puzzle rather than cry and whine like the babies. It helped when his microphone was turned off, even though some noises still came through.

Right now, kids were getting their coats on and he quickly got up to copy. Marco would never turn down an opportunity to go walking somewhere. The park, they were going to the park! Oh, how exciting!

It wasn’t long before they were scattered across swings and slides, though his attention was more focused on some kids on brooms. He hadn’t ridden a broom before. His exit down the slide left him running over to the area, originally to ask if he could have a go.

However, he got distracted by a sudden ‘YOU’ ringing metallically through his ears. Huh? A little girl was pointing at him and so he went closer. “Is your broom broken?” The seven year old asked, motioning to the stuck-in-the-mud-broom nearby.
