Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Alodia Summerbee

Birthday: September, 1, 1939

Hometown: Glasgow, Scotland, UK

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination

Year (pick two): fifth or sixth

Biography:
Alodia Summerbee was born the first of September of 1939 to Angela and Farith Summerbee, their first and, so far, only child. Farith met Angela in one of his trips to Norway as an emissary for the Ministry of Magic and married her one year later, in 1937. After having their first child, they moved back to Glasgow, where Farith works with the local Aurors and Angela opened a kindergarten for magical children.

Alodia spent most of her childhood split between Glasgow and Ålesund, her mother’s hometown. Her mother’s younger brother, Lukkas, doted on her and, being a professional Quidditch player, was the one who introduced her to the sport and even gave her her first broom.

When it was time for her to choose the school she would attend, there was no hesitation in the child’s mind. Just like her father before her, and all of his family before him, she would attend Hogwarts and be a Gryffindor. She didn’t understand her mother’s relief, neither did she understand why she never spoke of her own school, but her mind was still set on Hogwarts.

She will never be sure, but in the two seconds before the hat laid in her head, as she chanted ‘Gryffindor, Gryffindor, Gryffindor, Gryffindor…’ in her mind, she had been pretty sure she had heard a low raspy laugh coming from the hat. Of course, the cheering from the Gryffindor table and the blood rushing to her ears as it announced “Gryffindor!”, made it hard to hear.

A year into her studies, her uncle Lukkas moved to Glasgow to play with the Grim Reapers, the local Quidditch team. One night, she overheard her mother argue with him in Norwegian, but she could barely make out what they were talking about. Since then, she has seldom seen him and her mother is not very keen on both of them talking, although she doesn’t understand why.

Now, on her fifth year, she wears her colors with pride, dreams of flying with the Quidditch Gryffindor team and tries not to get into too much trouble. She really can’t help if trouble comes to her, though, and she is not one to back down.

House Request: Gryffindor

Personality:
Alodia takes no nonsense from no one. She is strong willed in the best of times and downright stubborn the rest of the time. She’s an adventure seeker and tiptoes around the rules, not wanting to actively break them but smart enough to do so if needed and not get caught most of the time. She is loud when she’s happy and loud when she’s angry. When she’s sad, however, she withdraws, keeps quiet, bottles it in. She has an opinion on most things, will judge you loudly and jump in front of any spell going your way. She can be a lady, sit properly and be poised and proper. Doesn’t mean she will, though.

As with everything else in her life, Alodia takes to her studies stubbornly. She is a descendant of Felix Summerbee, a brilliant spell developer, but she finds she is more inclined to the structure of Transfiguration and Potions, she keeps clear notes on everything and can be frustrated when something doesn’t come out exactly as she expected it to. She is a clean worker and is often found on Gryffindor tower surrounded by towers of neatly piled books and a black cup of coffee.

Appearance: Alodia is tall and lean, a good built for a Quidditch Chaser, according to her uncle. She has very short brown hair, rounded hazel eyes and thin lips, which she often bites when she is focusing in something.

Option I:

Alodia was fuming. She had been calmly working in her Charms homework when a ruckus had dragged her from her thoughts. She looked up just to see a bunch of sixth year girls leaving the dorms laughing amongst themselves.

“She looked so scared!” One of them laughed, not at all lowering her voice despite the fact that most of the common room was studying. “I think I saw her shaking all the way down the stairs!”

They were clearly not trying to hide what they had done, boasting loudly of their prank. She calmly took her wand from the pocket in her coat where she kept it, mindlessly playing with it in her hand as she kept her eyes on her scroll, but she paid attention to the girls.

“Did Emma Birch even exist?”

It was then that Alodia’s wand tipped just a bit further in her hand, the rug the girls were standing on suddenly turned into slippery ice, the bunch of them falling flat on their arses before the rug returned to its normal state as if nothing had happened. By then, Alodia was already on her way to the door. She looked over her shoulder at the girls and snorted, rolling her eyes at the whining bunch of girls.

She made her way as quickly as possible to the dungeons, avoiding the most used hallways. It was getting late and if she was found roaming around, she would probably be sent right back to the tower and she was pretty sure that whoever was lost on the dungeons, looking for the ghost of Emma Birch, would have a hard time coming back by themselves.

“Hello?” she called out into the dark, not feeling as uncomfortable there as she had on her first year, but it was cold and she wanted to go back to the warmth of her common room.

“Hello! Is Emma Birch here?”

She ducked into the next hallway, her steps echoing in the stone walls, and found herself face to face with a first year girl, her eyes wide wand shoulders shaking with what she could only assume was fear.

“Hey, lass. You lost?” she asked with a kind smile and a relieved sigh.

Hi Alodia, welcome to the site!

Your application looks good so far, there's just one thing you'll need to edit before we can get you accepted.

Whilst we do try to place people in their preferred house, this isn't always possible. This means that Alodia might not necessarily be a Gryffindor. It's fine for you to leave the references to Alodia being a Gryffindor in your RP sample (as we can assume that's for the purposes of the sample, and not set in stone), but you'll need to edit your biography to remove any direct mentions of Alodia being in Gryffindor, just in case we can't place her there. You could simply delete the paragraph beginning 'She will never be sure...', and edit the reference to the Gryffindor Quidditch team to 'her house Quidditch team', and this would solve the issue.

Once you've made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look.

Thanks!
cherry lips, crystal skies
i could show you incredible things

stolen kisses, pretty lies
you're the king, baby, i'm your queen

Head of Ravenclaw
do you remember the twenty-first night of september?
love was changing the minds of pretenders while chasing the clouds away
our hearts were ringing in the key that our souls were singing
as we danced in the night, remember how the stars stole the night away
