Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Clara is the youngest of three children. Her two older brothers, Jasper and Oliver, always tended to form their own dynamic duo with her sitting on the sidelines cheering them on. She hardly minded as she doesn’t generally strive to be the center of attention in any way. Her father Urban Fawe is descended from one of the oldest Gypsy families in England and though he was never raised within that culture, pieces of their history follow and haunt him still. Clara’s grandparents on her father’s side are an influential force in her life, especially her grandfather who has always been the most encouraging of her interest in Romani culture and divination. In contrast, her mother Margot is descended of a more traditional magical family who are not always shy about their distrust of the wandering, caravan lifestyle of Urban’s ancestors. Over the years the rift between the two families has contributed to the strain on their marriage and the year before Clara was to start school her parents finally separated.

The first thing most people notice about Clara is her hair. She is notorious for ignoring it until it becomes a massive mess of blonde curls and waves trailing down to her mid back. If you can see past that she has generally soft features; a small but broad nose and pale hazel eyes. Though she has a very expressive face it more often than not appears blank as she frequently gets lost in thought, giving her an almost vacant appearance. She lives in her head so much that it can be difficult for her to separate daydreams from reality. This has led her to a strange and erroneous conclusion that she has the talents of a Seer, and she takes every opportunity to make 'predictions'. Along with this she is a terrible listener and seems to drift in and out of conversations. Strangely, though she seems to never be paying attention, Clara picks up a lot from her surroundings. She has a tendency to retain information without knowing how it fits in with anything else. Clara holds herself small but is average in stature, perhaps a little more sturdy than some girls but still thin. Her wardrobe ranges considerably, though she does tend to more earth-tones and small intricate patterns. She even has some traditional Romani skirts that had been gifted to her by her grandfather and wears them proudly.

On the trip to Diagon Alley just before Oliver began school, Clara was able to convince her father to buy her a pet raven instead of an owl, which she named Baxt - the Romani word for luck or fortune. He hasn’t brought her much of either though, more often causing chaos or thieving shiny objects, but is intelligent and affectionate enough to get away with pretty much everything.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

It had been a very long morning, going over all of her recent visions with her dear grandfather. The grizzled wizard was the only one who seemed to have any faith in her budding abilities but that was enough for Clara. There was no doubt in her mind that the things she saw and felt were meaningful; she just needed a more experienced mind to help her in deciphering them. And what better mind was there than her Romani ancestor, who had taught her all she knew of reading signs and omens, who kept her connected to the Seer blood in her veins? Someday she would prove to more than just him.

Beneath the pale blue of the sky her fluffy golden hair whispered this way and that in the slight breeze while her raven cawed overhead, following her slow walk through the park. Aside from his lazy call the only thing echoing in her mind were the predictions she was trying to interpret. The various shapes and colors and scents and sounds that could spell either fortune or disaster. So she didn't hear anyone addressing her, and certainly didn't see anyone as her vision came only from her inner eye, not the ones staring blankly from her round face.

Not until Baxt beat his wide wings and alighted on the end of an upturned broom did she blink back to the world around her. "Strange tree," she commented as if speaking to her bird directly. The creature flapped and seemed to complain until Clara recognized that there was a young girl directly next to that 'tree'. "Oh! Not a tree. Or, not anymore at least," she commented about the wooden broom, with an expression that seemed neither friendly or hostile, rather almost vacant. A breeze pushed fluffy hair around and nearly into her mouth as she continued. "I wonder if it's happy it can fly now, after being rooted for so long."

Hi Rowena, welcome to the site!

You can definitely go ahead and apply as an Elsewhere child for now and then reapply as a Hogwarts student with the same character when December rolls around. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions, and I'll be happy to help!

Suggestions & Questions / From Elsewhere to Hogwarts?
« Last post by RowenaDeCourcy on 21/10/2018 at 11:20 »
Hello,

I'm new here, and I had a question about character applications. Since I'm yet too early to straight-up apply for Hogwarts, I was wondering if you could also apply for Hogwarts with an Elsewhere character - intending to make this character a child then, as I want to start as a first year. So, in short, making an application form for a character in Elsewhere, and then use this same character to applicate for Hogwarts when the time is there (this December). If that's possible, I'll make an application for an Elsewhere character and sign up for Hogwarts later on, and if it isn't possible, I'll wait until December to make an application form so that I can go to Hogwarts.

I hope this is clear, I'm having problems making a cohesive story from time to time lol.
                                                                                                                        Thank you in advance!

Hi Zolderane and welcome to our site!

Your application is nicely detailed, and that's always wonderful to see!

However, before we can accept your application, there are some issues with your Roleplay sample.

First, you mention several times that Zolderane is already proficient in magic. However, children are not issued a wand until they are admitted to Hogwarts in the summer before their first year. This means Zolderane would not be able to practice nor perform the spells mentioned in your sample.

For more information on how magic works on this site, feel free to look over our Magical Rules.

Furthermore, in your roleplay samble, you control Janey's actions in addition to Zoldane's. This is powerplaying, and goes against site rules.

Quote
You may control only your character. You cannot post that someone’s character did something or said something without having that player's permission beforehand. This includes impersonating another character, or determining whether a spell your character uses affects the other character. An example of this would be:
Correct: John asked Helen to come along, hoping that she would follow him to see the Squid.
Incorrect: John asked Helen to come along. Helen replied with a yes.

Once you've made the required changes, please repost your entire revised application and we'll be more than happy to give it another look.

Thank you,
Marina

Name: Zolderane Zukanovic

Bloodline: Pureblood
Parents: (Non-played Characters) Zunairah Ziva and Zakariah Zion Zukanovic
Residence: 50 Victoria Road, Oxford, England
Place Connection: Primary School
Character Group: No
Biography: Zolderane Zelda Zukanovic is a pureblood witch. Both her father,  Zakariah Zion Zukanovic, and her mother, Zunairah Ziva Zukanovic, are Aurors. Zolderane has brown hair that blends to become blond at the tips of her hair, she has seafoam green eyes with five freckles under each one, a button nose and tortoiseshell glasses.  She is 150 centimetres tall and weighs 35 kilograms. Zolderane loves to learn as about everything she can do research about and always wants everyone to feel included and will invite them to hang out with her if they are alone. Zolderane is also extremely brave and, but she does not do anything without a systematic plan. Zolderane’s favourite saying is ‘May my heart be kind, may my mind be wise and may my soul be brave’. She is interested in potions, charms, transfiguration, history of magic, herbology, defence against the dark arts, astronomy, muggle studies, ancient runes, care of magical creatures, arithmancy and divination. Zolderane’s favourite colour is sky blue and her favourite food is pizza. Zolderane’s first sign of magic appeared just after she was born. The nurse had just put her to bed and was going to get the teddy bear that Zunairah told her to give to Zolderane when it was suddenly was in the babies arms. The nurse thought that Zackariah had wrapped the bear in the cloths. However, when Zunairah and Zackariah were asked if they had put the bear in the cloth they told the nurse they did but they knew that this was Zolderane’s first signs of magic and promised that they would tell everyone they trusted about it.
Roleplay: Zolderane saw the little girl's tantrum as her brother played the seekers role in Quidditch, which she knew was the best sport that ever existed. Zolderane had been trained by her parents to be able to use simple but effective spells so she could help people in need if there were no of age witches or wizards around. This time there were witches and wizards everywhere but they were all watching the older children play. Zolderane went to the little girl and asked her if she would like to play a little game in the middle of the court with some other little children. The little said yes so Zolderane went and found thirteen other young children and told them to get into two teams of seven while she got all the equipment ready. She made sure all the toy brooms were able to ascend and descend a few feet so that they could feel like they were actually playing Quidditch. She enchanted the snitch so that it would stay within the border that she had drawn. The downsized all the other balls and the goal hoops and made the bludgers less ferocious. It was now ready for the children to play.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Calix Glass

Gender: Female

Age: Thirteen

Bloodline: Pureblood

Parents/Guardians: Calix’s parents died of dragon pox when she was three. Her and her younger brother were taken in and raised by their aunt and uncle. Calum and Lorna Calix are well known in the highlands by the community of wizards and witches who reside there. Lorna has a reputation as the best and worst woman to go drinking with, and Calum compliments his wife with a quieter, more grounded nature. Both Calum and Lorna love their niece and nephew as if they were their own, as they never had children of their own. They never tried to replace their lost parents, but rather filled the void with empathy and guidance as they strove to raise the children as best they could.

Residence: Calix lives with her brother, aunt, and uncle in the Isle of Skye. They enjoy the pastoral life of the Scottish Highlands. Lorna owns and operates the family farm and distillery that have belonged to her family for generations. When not tending the herd of cattle, she is notorious for brewing, and generously sampling, the island’s finest whiskey. Calix and her brother grew up on the large estate, playing wildly outdoors as the shaggy heard of cattle grazed nearby.

Do you plan to have a connection to a particular existing place (for example: the daycare)? No.

Do you wish to be approved as a group with any other characters? If so who and for what IC reason? No.

Please list any other characters you already have at the site: N/A

Biography:

Lorna and Calum fostered a deep sense of kindness and compassion in Calix as a young child, and they have become a guiding moral compass for her. She has a close relationship with her brother, in spite of the difference in their ages, and she confides in him often. She loves her aunt and uncle dearly, finding solace and comfort in the easy relationship she shares with them. A small, quiet part of her longs for the fragmented, distant memories of her parents, and she will often leave small gifts for them, whether it’s knotted twigs by the river, or a river-polished stone in a soft bed of moss. A natural leader, she is quick to make friends and generally easy to get along with. Growing up in the outdoors fostered an innate fearlessness, and an almost oblivious disregard for own mortality. She risks herself needlessly, and often carelessly, with little thought to the consequences. Calix prefers to be outside, engaged in physical activities, whether it’s exploring nature, flying, or tending to the magical creatures that wander onto her aunt and uncle’s land. She will complete her school work out of sense of duty, but restlessness nags at her if she remains indoors for too long.

Roleplay Response:

Calix inhaled, savouring the taste of the clear, clean air. Movement caught her gaze, and she glanced up at the three boys zooming through the sky. A grin tugged at the corner of her mouth as their shouts of excitement drifted down to where she stood. She tracked their progress as they flew, the snitch a tiny spark of glinting gold as he fingers itched for a broom that was miles away.

John, I said wait up!” a shrill voice cried. Calix shifted her gaze to the small girl, wailing her resentment as she tugged at the broom. Calix smiled again, a mixture of amusement and sympathy twisting in her eyes. She remembered all too keenly the frustration of her own first toy broom, tethered too close to the earth when the clouds swirled so invitingly above. She stifled her chuckle as the girl was tipped to the ground.

Calix blinked as the girl fixed her blue eyes on her. You! Do you want to play?” The friendly smile returned to Calix’s mouth, and she shrugged. “Sure,” she answered simply, as she walked over to the girl. She reached out to pull the broom from where the little girl had stuck it in the ground. She winked conspiringly. “Let’s see if we can get this thing to fly a little higher.”
