Biography:
Jason Percival Calloway was born in the small town of Camberwell in London on the twelfth of July. Born to a halfblood father, Jacob Calloway, and a pureblood mother, Evelyn Calloway, Jason is the eldest of three sons. He is two years senior to his brother, Percival Calloway, and four years senior to his second brother, Zachary Calloway. Both of Jason’s parents previously resided in the wizarding village of Godric’s Hollow, but decided to move to the muggle world of London prior to Jason’s birth so their children could receive a muggle education in the years leading up to their time at Hogwarts. Neither of Jason’s parents had particularly unpleasant views on muggles, muggleborns, or half-breeds. In fact, Jacob and Evelyn engraved a strong sense of equality and respect for all in each of their children. Jason’s grandparents, however, strongly disapproved of their children's’ decision to move to the muggle world.
As a student in muggle school, Jason always excelled in all subjects spare one. Mathematics was never one of his strong suits. Aside from academics, Jason was also particularly skilled in the muggle sports of basketball and lacrosse. From a magical perspective, Jason’s childhood was far from dull. His father was a dedicated fan of the Falmouth Falcons while his mother strongly supported the Appleby Arrows. The strong support of each respective team by Jason’s parents stirred many an argument in the Calloway household, in which case Jason and his brothers would quietly retreat from the conflict and go out to play Quidditch on their own. During large family reunions, the children of the families would always get together and hold an inter-family Quidditch tournament. Jason was able to play the position of Chaser very well, and his team never lost a game. By the time Jason had to leave to attend Hogwarts, he had accumulated many Muggle friends, to all of which he had say that he would be going to a prestigious boarding school in Scotland.
When Jason recieved his acceptance letter to Hogwarts at the age of eleven, his excitement was only subsided by the disappointment his younger brothers displayed when they learned their elder brother would have to leave. Although Jason did miss his family a great deal once he went to Hogwarts, he never once felt like he was away from home. He was Sorted into Gryffindor House in his first year, and went on to play as a Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team in his second year. Over his course at Hogwarts, Jason bonded particularly with two other Gryffindor boys in his year. Halfblood Cole Brazlock and Pureblood Roden Fawley partook in many adventures with their friend Jason- whether it be ridiculous dares, duels, or any other form of dangerous rule-breaking. Jason, Roden, and Cole managed to form a rivalry against a popular Slytherin boy named Ronnie Freewell, and therefore against most of the Slytherins. (The Gryffindor-Slytherin rivalry continues I suppose). Jason accidentally humiliated Ronnie as the result of a dare, causing Cole, Roden, and himself to get off on the wrong foot with Ronnie. Discovering Ronnie’s arrogant personality and constant expression of pureblood and halfblood supremacy, however, Jason, Cole, and Roden decided they never would have desired to be friends with Ronnie anyway. From there on, a series of exchanges between the two groups only caused their hatred for each other to grow ever-more.
With his first and second years at Hogwarts well behind him, Jason is now eagerly anticipating his return to Hogwarts. With Jason’s return also comes his younger brother Percy’s start at Hogwarts. Having heard many stories about Ronnie, and being the prankster he is, Percy is more than ready to try out some of his brilliantly-thought out schemes along with his elder brother and his friends on the boy who would be the perfect target.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Gryffindor

Personality:
Tell us a bit about your character’s personality (likes, dislikes, fears, etc.) What are they like on a good day versus a bad one? Is your character particularly cheerful? Do they hate sunlight?

Jason is overall a very pleasant boy to be around. As a person, he is very outgoing, daring, and funny. In Jason’s opinion, one of the best ways to make friends is by making people laugh, which Jason can do with ease. From a young age, Jason has had a sharp tongue, which often got him into trouble. Sometimes he can be impulsive and rash, especially when the matter comes to his friends, his family, or his own dignity. Jason hates pity, but loves sympathy. He is an ambivert, and connects well with people. Though he is loud and humorous, Jason is very understanding and gentle when someone needs him. Jason finds he gives the best advice to others on their dilemmas, but cannot manage to give advice to himself when he needs it. His thought monologue usually runs very deep, and Jason has always wanted to be a part of something bigger. Growing up in the muggle world with muggle-accepting wizard parents has made it so that Jason generally accepts muggleborns, muggles, and half-breeds. But from all the times Jason has been around his aunts as a child- when they filled his head with ideas such as muggleborns are scum- the occasional ‘Mudblood’ sometimes slips from Jason’s mouth. Despite this, Jason is typically relatable and sweet, but can be fierce if required to be.

Appearance:
Briefly describe your character's appearance (hair color, build, stature, etc.) What effect does it have on their personality? For example, does the shy Ravenclaw girl secretly dye her hair black because she hates her natural blonde? Does the curly-haired Gryffindor use charms to hide his freckles?

At the age of 13, Jason is a 5’6” tall boy with dark blond hair and icy blue eyes. His blond hair is typically worn a mess, as he does not give it much attention, yet it remains smooth and silky and people are always telling him his hair is gorgeous. His blue eyes work for him in multiple ways; sometimes they make him seem playful and innocent while other times they make him appear mature (Jason can be both playful and innocent and mature depending on the circumstance and his mood). He has a light skin tone with the faintest hint of a tan. His build is strong and he has small muscles in his arms, and he is light as well. Handsome is an understatement, and his appearance definitely played a part in earning Jason so many friends. His light but strong build has helped Jason win many races and complete many dares that over half the other children in his year could not have done. His appearance definitely helps to boost Jason’s confidence, and he was never self-conscious about how he looks.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

------------------------------
Jason stood tall in the thick bed of flowers, gaping at the the boy who had just run through and spoiled many of the plants in the caretaker’s garden. In reality, Jason had a growing temptation to burst out laughing right then and there, but he didn’t. The boy looked like he needed assurance at the moment, and laughing at him probably wasn’t the smartest idea.

“You said your rat’s name was Merlin?” The boy who had tried to seem haughty just a few moments ago now stood there with a blank face, not saying anything at all.

Jason took the silence for a ‘yes,’ as he was almost certain he had heard the boy holler ‘Merlin’ as he was running through the flowers.

Jason swiftly drew his wand from his robe and pointed it at a point just a little farther down the flower bed. He quickly tuned out all the sights and noises around him, concentrating on the one spot.

“Wingardium Leviosa,” he said firmly. He lifted his wand upward slightly, and what seemed like a small ball of black fur rose into the air in the area where Jason had pointed his wand.
Jason drew his wand toward his chest, and the rat flew swiftly toward him and landed in his palm. It was a fidgety one. Jason held onto it tight enough that it wouldn’t escape again, but not so tight that he hurt it.

Jason had honestly considered casting a Summoning Charm with ‘Accio’ instead of ‘Wingardium Leviosa,’ but the Summoning Charm was a spell students learn in their fourth years. Jason’s father had taught the charm to him when he was in his second year, and Jason could perform the spell well, but he was not too sure how effective it would have been in this case.

Jason walked toward the boy who lost the rat and held out his hand to him.

“Here,” he said with a smile.
