→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Boniface ‘Bo’ Francis Fielding

Birthday: 21 June, 1940

Hometown: Inverness

Bloodline: muggleborn

Magical strength: transfiguration

Magical weakness: divination

Year: 4, 7

Biography: [411 words]

Boniface Francis Fielding grew up in small village just east of Inverness with his maternal grandparents. Both his parents had been killed in the war, his father in the battle at Dunkirk before he was born and his mother during a bombing raid in London when he was two months old. His father was an only child and Bo never knew his paternal grandparents but his mother was spoken of often growing up and he has several pictures of her. While he has no memories of his own he feels that he has a relationship.

His grandparents are kind, elderly, thick accented and very Scottish. His grandfather had been a quarryman by profession but an avid mechanic hobbyist in his spare time, taking apart and putting back together anything with a motor or some springs. He spent much of Bo’s childhood asleep in his armchair with a paper in his lap and a cold cup of weak tea on the stool by his chair. His grandmother is a keen gardener; she sang in the local branch of the Scottish Womens Institute and was forever trying to keep up moral with cakes, making all kinds of creative substitutions for the ingredients that were lacking due to rationing.

Bo was brought up to be polite and well mannered but was left a little to his own devices, free to roam the wilds of the highlands and explore the loch. His closest friends were three girls that lived at the vicarage that always started the day with pink dresses and ribbons at the end of their plats and ended it with muddy dresses with newts in their pockets and sticks in their hair.

It’s hard to make your parents proud when they lived such short lives so fully and so heroically and when they’re no longer around to see it. Bo often thinks about what they might think of him; more so recently. Sometimes when he daydreams he has conversations with them. There are things that he sometimes worries what they might think; of being a wizard, of being a bit effete, of duelling for fun, and of crushing on men, but his grandparents have been nothing but supportive, if a little bemused. His grandmother certainly has appreciated the new found knowledge and enthusiasm for gardening he has brought back from Herbology classes and his grandfather has indulged him with crash courses in taking apart and putting together again the wireless and the Hoover.

Option I:

[...]

There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

RP Response:

“Not a name I usually go by,” Boniface replied, coming in to view from round the corridor ahead of her. He came to a stop in front of her and smiled. His robes were a little ruffled and his tie far too loose for school regulations but they both sported the colour of her house, a fellow Gryffindor. He had a roll of parchment stuffed in one pocket that looked like it was trying to make a break for freedom by unfurling itself and tucked under his arm were two books, one of which was open to hold its place and taking some serious scrunching damage to its pages in his armpit, not to mention the strain on the spine at being kept forced open.

In true Gryffindor style he’d walked his Slytherin study partner back to their common room. Though he had bid his goodbyes several paces before the entrance; there were social rules about these kind of things it seemed and he’d been sworn to secrecy on pain of some very nasty sounding potion applications that he wasn’t entirely sure were real but was willing to err on the side of caution. It was tough crushing on a slytherin.

“Boniface Fielding,” Bo said, crumpling pages further as he shifted the books under his arm to extend a hand to the young Gryffindor. “But everyone calls me Bo,” he concluded, his voice had a slight Scottish accent to it.

“I’m heading back to the Gryffindor tower,” he said. “Do you want to walk back together? Or are you waiting for...” he hesitated as he recalled the name she had been calling, “Emma?” he asked.
