Hi Signe! Welcome to HS.net.

Your application looks good - but I'm a little worried about the amount to which Signe's character's story focuses on her eating disorder. As you'll know from reading through the rules and the site guidelines, our site is rated as '12'. This means that any content has to be suitable for a child aged 12, and I'm a little worried that, if not handled in a sensitive and appropriate manner, Signe's story could cross that boundary. Please remember that the site is set in 1940 - ideals of beauty were very different and eating disorders weren't as prevalent.

Please adjust Signe's bio and roleplay so that it's not as focused on her eating disorder, and then we'll be happy to review the application again!

Thanks,

Theodore.

Resources / A Quick Note on Internet Safety.
« on: 28/12/2013 at 00:24 »
a note about internet safety...

HS.net is a friendly, all inclusive and close-knit community, but like elsewhere on the internet, there is a degree of anonymity which is the right of our members.

This extends to:

Personal Details:

It is your choice (and it is by no means recommended by site staff) as to whether you disclose your first names on the site. It is unwise to reveal full names to anyone on the site - no matter how much you feel you can trust them.

Your age and location is your information. If you don't want to tell people how young you are - don't. It's as simple as that. It is not wise to share addresses with strangers - this is why Secret Santa is organised by Site Staff only.

Emails, personal tumblrs, websites facebook urls, etc. must not ever be shared in the Main Chatroom. If you chose to share these details, please do so over PC or PM only. Please be aware that site staff are not responsible for the consequences of any off-site communication, but we expect all members of the site (including staff) to keep all communication age-appropriate.

Lying about any personal information will not be tolerated. Lying about age or gender raises red-flags. It's as simple as that.

If you're confident enough in someone to meet them offline:

• Only do so in a public location.
• Take a friend!
• If the above isn't possible, tell a few other people where you are, who you will be with, how long you expect to be, and where else you expect to visit. Make sure you have a working phone number of the person or people you've arranged to meet (and test it, first).
• Keep your phone/cell charged and on at all times.
• Make sure that you have taken enough money to be able to get home.

Remember, it's your choice what you share and what you don't share. If you are uncomfortable, please let a member of the admin team know asap.

Hi Jessica!

Welcome to HS.net! In order to accept your application, I'd like to see a little more in your Roleplay Response. In order to sort Jessica, it would be helpful if you either extended your biography to focus more on her, or if you provided a description of her personality.

Thanks!

Theo.

Hi Autumn! Welcome to HS.net!

HS.net is written in third person and past tense, so for example:

Quote
Hello, I am Autumn Evergreen. I was born in Liverpool, England, to Lucille and George
Evergreen. I was born on November 9th. My parents are both muggles, ...

Would read:

Quote
Autumn Evergreen was born in Liverpool, England, to Lucille and George Evergreen on November 9th. Both Lucille and George were muggles ...

Additionally, the year is 1940, and so it wasn't common place for people to wear jeans and high-tops; this fashion emerged in the 1950's for males.

Lastly, in your roleplay response I noticed a touch of powerplaying. Powerplaying is where you make a decision about a character that isn't yours, for example, by touching them - it should be the choice of the other writer as to whether or not their character is touched. Powerplaying is against site rules, so please rewrite your roleplay response to be:

• In third person, past tense
• Void of powerplaying

Please also note that by walking away, you potentially make it difficult for the other writer to reply.

Thanks,

Theo

Hi Alexaires! Welcome to HS.net!

There's some things I'd like to clear up before we proceed - our site rating is 12, which means that whatever is written on the site must be suitable for persons as young as 12. Whilst it's clear that you've put an exceptional amount of thought into your application, it would be more appropriate in terms of the site rating for the details to be left vague when referred to on the site.

However, you will have to submit a Special Request Form for Alexaire's werewolf ability and his scars. Admins will then advise you as to how the school would agree to deal with his condition - it's unlikely that they'd lock him up in the dungeons, because it'd be safer for the other students if he was out of the castle.

(The following is some advice which might help with your character history / site context - it has nothing to do with your application being accepted - I just think it might help to know!)

Firstly, the Ministry is a played entity of the site. Ministry policy, in this case, would place Alexaires in St Mungos. (Of course, this knowledge wouldn't necessarily alter Alexaire's opinion of his experience, but I just wanted to fill you in on a little context which could help you when RPing).

Secondly, wolfbane exists in this universe, however the war made it rare, and extremely expensive. The recent death of the maker will create other complications (but for this, you might want to consider talking to Charlie Kedding!)

Thanks! I hope I haven't confused you, and I look forward to reading your special request,

Theo.

Hey lovely!

The app looks great - but could you clear up where the green light that kills Venus's mother came from?  As long as it wasn't accidental magic on Venus's behalf, we're free to go ahead and process the application.

Thanks!
