CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character name: Belicose Razi

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable:
Helios, Sedrah, Belicose (yes, that's me), Zed, Céleste, and a bunch of minor players

Character age:
Lets just call it mid-twenties and save us from doing math.

Character education:
Hogwarts, Slytherin, Class of (let's not do the math)

Strength and weaknesses (details please):
Belicose is her greatest strength and weakness. She is full self-assured that everything is either right, or the best choice that can be made. That means she will rarely second guess herself, and all of her efforts are driven toward that goal. That makes her a very strong force to deal with.
When it comes to her friends, if they agree with her views, then nothing can stand in her way. But if you are like most people, you will likely see her as insane, and that unalterable conviction she possesses is her defining weakness.

In regards to magic, Belicose is a Storm Witch. Her emotions and powers are linked to the weather. In strong storms, her powers exceed her normal abilities. I high winds or gentle rain, her powers are normal. And in sunny and calm days, her powers are below normal. This unpredictability, linked to her emotions, also means that in stormy weather, Belicose is more sure of herself, and more aggressive. Also, he more violent spells gain more of a benefit than her peaceful spells. But in calm conditions, her aggressive spells are limited more than her peaceful spells.

During her school years, she concentrated much more emphasis on her conjurations and summoning than on the other three areas, even if she did maintain pace with her students in the same years. But her most successful area of study was in potions. The very manufacture of potions expanded her knowledge and the ingredients contained therein gave her deeper insights into how magic worked.

Her greatest weakness is in her belief about muggles. She cannot fathom that they have contributed anything to the world of any value. Nothing. She knows next to nothing of their effect on the world, or how the world has developed around them and not around the magical world. If the muggle world has something of value to it, Belicose just can't see it. It makes no sense to her way of thinking, that something mundane could be more useful than a magical solution.

Physical description:
Belicose is short. In her dreams she gets to five foot tall, when in reality she is a couple inches shorter than that. But based on her personality, you wouldn't know it.She is of mixed Asian descent, with British, Caribbean and African bloodlines. Most of her features are asian, her hair is long but naturally curled. She uses potions to keep it straight and manageable. Too bad she can't find a potion to make her taller.

Belicose is athletic in build, even if small. Part of that was simply her willingness to try almost anything, and part of that was her tenacity to make herself strong enough to deal with whatever it required. When it came to climbing castle walls, she built her strength until she could reach the top, and when it came to fighting in the war, she trained even harder. No one would ever consider her soft.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.):
Belicose is a friendly sort, if you are on her good side. If not, she can be a terror. Belicose doesn't mind making enemies, and her brash personality has made a fair number. People don't tend to forget when they have met Belicose, she isn't one that fails to make an impression. Most of them are lasting, good or bad.

Belicose has a playful side, but it is dangerous. And she is likely to find humour in most things, especially when imminent death or injury is involved. She has done great harm to herself just for the fun of trying something dangerous. The fact that she has lived when other have not is testament to her own will power.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?:

Belicose's dreams are to one day rule the world. It may happen or it may not, but each step along the way seems to bring her closer to the goal. First was getting into Hogwarts as a first year, against the family tradition that holds students until their second or third year. Her marriage, while a disaster, allowed her the freedom to get away from the oppression of her family. Her enlistment in the Nox Sororitas, brought her access to the international world. And her enlistment in the Chinese army made her a war hero.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):
September 30, 1943

Dear Headmistress and members in the Department of Education:

I am writing to you to voice my concerns upon a recent hiring you have made to the staff of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I learned of this hiring only through owl post when my child sent a letter home asking for a jumper with his house logo. Very little was conveyed in his message about his studies, but he did mention that the horrifying witch, Belicose Razi, has returned to school as a professor. To teach Herbology of all things!

I was already a student at Hogwarts when she entered. I was well aware of the deep vein of insanity that runs within the Razi family. Their elitist pure-blood mentality exceeded that of most other pure blood families. I know she lobbied a great deal for the opening of a school in which to shun muggle-born witches and wizards. She stabbed several of her fellow schoolmates while attending, as well as cursed and tortured several others.

I understand she was a dueling member, and after being expelled from practicing her dueling for fear that she would seriously injure other students, she was made head of the dueling club. In her later years, as I heard from friends still attending, she was captain of the Slytherin Quiddithc team. She made nicknames for her team members and others in an attempt to belittle them so she could reign supreme.

She killed an auror while in her fifth year while vacationing with a member of the Razi household, and then covered it up in some conspiratorial way. The ruling was that the murder was accidental, but common sense says that there was no accident in the setting or activities surrounding the deadly attack. This information was posted in the Daily Prophet.

I know she was a prodigy of both Cyrillian Darkmoon and of Elizabeth Birch, both of which are known for their questionable deeds. Cyrillian was a known killer, and Elizabeth, before being made Headmistress of the school (which I protested then) was known as a mean and dismissive professor. With those two as role models, is it any wonder that Belicose Razi has turned up even more rotten.

She killed her own husband, and then fled the country. Despite the findings that his death was cause by serious splinching during a routine apparition, most people forget that she had poisoned him just prior. I was a loveless marriage (because Belicose is incapable of such), but to kill one's own husband is unforgivable. Should we allow others to learn of her methods, melt alone in a place of learning.

She was, I don't doubt, responsible for the death or near-death of one-time professor Marcus Altair. No charges could be brought up, but I (and others) believe she drove him to such insanity. The man has never been the same since. She ruined the man.

Despite all charges of her misdeeds being dropped, there is one unmistakable fact that I doubt you are aware of. After leaving school she travelled to Kathmandu to study under a group known as the Nox Sororitas. I know nothing of what they are, but if they wanted Belicose in their ranks, they must be wicked indeed. Not to mention that their name means Sisters of the Night. Nothing good comes from names like that.

And then, at the beginning of the war, I understand she went to her mother's homeland and joined to fight against the Japanese. Now, I have no problem with someone joining in a fight against the axis powers, but she joined the wrong army! She joined the Chinese Red Army under Mao. She joined the communists.

Do you want to have a murderous, commie witch with no capacity to love as a professor in a school that teaches children. Think of the message that sends other parents. Think of what insidious ideas she might implant in the minds of our youth. She was a source of chaos and discord as a student, imagine what she would do as a professor. How many more must die before they see her as the monster she really is.

Sincerely,

{Name redacted in public files}

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.

In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:Belicose sat, staring back at the Headmistress with very much the same look. Not so much "explain yourself", more like a "you talk first."

Belicose could wait her out all day if needed. She had much practice in the Razi household sitting quietly and saying nothing, even if your mind was screaming to say something. Discipline was paramount for a Razi, even one as undisciplined as Belicose. At least there wasn't a storm outside.

Finally, Belicose smiled, something feral, like a cat having driven its claws through the mouse rather than watch it scamper in terror. "You have no idea how good that feels. Finally, a fellow Slytherin."

Belicose had been away, some places she might discuss, others would be best if she never thought of them again. "There really is something akin to all of us. Its good to see you again." Belicose sat back in the chair, making it look quite large against the petite woman.

Belicose hadn't returned to Hogwarts with advanced degrees in anything. She had been at war, in one manner or other since the day she left Britain. The few times she had returned were an attempt to set things right in her life, part of the training she needed. It taught her even more about herself, and more about the magic she used. Being a witch in a warzone was twice as dangerous. Wizards didn't attack muggles, so she was often a lone target. And muggles didn't know she was anything special. But she had survived, even after being captured twice, escaped twice, and tortured a few more times.

"We are agreed? No one can know about this until the Feast. Until school is open, it isn't safe."

[/color]→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to the Sample Roleplay below.

The dining hall was a loud, calamitous thing. Students sat scattered through the vast room, speaking various languages, laughing, and simply having a gay old time. A group of students towards the front of the hall sat huddled over a pile of sheet music. Black notes melted on to the off white parchment, splaying out a secret language, only readable to those who carried the gift. Another group sat watching a tall, thin upperclassman parading around her new ballet point shoes in awe. There seemed to be a group in the hall for everyone.

Everyone except Hilary, that is.

Poor Hilary stood soaking in the scene before her with a slight grimace on her face. Before coming to Beauxbatons, she had been overjoyed to begin studying magic, but now as she waded through her third week at the school, she felt lost in a sea of strangers. It wasn't that she was shy, no. Indeed, she even tried to reach out to some students. It was more that everyone seemed to already have their own clique, and Hilary felt so very unwelcome in all of them.

On her plate, she fidgeted with an assortment of vegetables and a delicate pork chop. That was the nice thing about Beauxbatons. Despite the many cold-shouldered students, the food was still incredible.

With a hefty sigh, Hilary strode into the dining hall. As she did, she let her mind wander to what life at the academy might be were she royalty. The students would bow at her feet! And of course she would only ever don the most elegant of robes, decorated in sequins, rhinestones, and laced with frills. All of the girls at the school would fawn over the level of grace she exhibited. Hilary would make wonderful royalty, yes that was certain.

Though, lost in her fantasy, Hilary failed to notice the leather bag lying at the center of the walkway. Failing to notice the bag in her path, naturally caused her to trip, spilling the contents of her plate all over the student sitting just beside the bag.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!"

There had to be dozens of people in the room. Hall, it was called a hall. She needed to remember that. There were dancers to one side, a few actors in another group, and she could see a few people passing a book around while having their discussions. There was a little bit of order to the chaos around her. She liked that. Nothing was out of place, and yet it wasn't controlled. It was as if everything had found a balance somewhere.

Céleste could just sit here all day and watch them all. A group to one side were talking about lines on a piece of paper the size of the table, pointing out measurements and angles. It sounded interesting as long as you didn't try to actually understand any of it. And for some reason they were debating something about materials and structural alignments.

It would have been fun to stand in there with them - if she understood what they were talking about. But it was so crowded and many of them talking at the same time. She decided she was happy to sit and watch them. Her eyes drifted around the room and at the last minute she caught a first year just about to walk right over her.

She pulled her knees up to her chin trying to get out of the way. Her hands covered her head, but it was all too late. The girl had stumbled and bits of food landed on her clothes as the plate and bowls and cups landed on or around her.

"No. Its okay. It was my fault. I shouldn't have been in the middle here." She flicked a few peas from her clothes and pulled a few pieces of lettuce from her hair. "I'm so sorry about all that. I didn't see you coming until there wasn't time to get out of the way."

Application for Beauxbatons Academy

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name:
Céleste Petit

Birthday:
September 30

Hometown:
Migrant - France

Bloodline:
Unknown

Magical Strength (pick one):
Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Transfiguration

Year (pick two):
6E as first choice, 5E as second choice

Biography:
When good things happen to good people we call it Kismet. When bad things happen to bad people we call it karma. When good things happen to bad people we call it luck. But when bad things happen to good people do we blame fate, or is it just a failure of society to protect those who deserve it.

Céleste is living on the back of a truck moving from one farm to another, working alongside her mother. Whether it is picking grapes for harvest, herding sheep to pens for sheering, or dumping fruit and grain into a pen for pigs, Céleste has been working since she came to France.

She arrived when she was five. Before that, she had lived in a city in a far away country. She doesn't remember much about those days, except that she had a house and school and friends. She even had parents, though she couldn't tell you anything about them. She doesn't even know what they looked like, and her mother won't tell her anything about those days. All she knows is that one day she left school and ran for cover, and in the night they climbed aboard a boat and left Vietnam.

It wouldn't take a Diviner to tell someone that things were going from bad to worse in Vietnam in the 60s. They had only been fighting the French since the end of the World War. And they had won, only to have the Americans step in. They took the place of the French with bigger guns, more ships and planes, and more destruction. And the Viet government had started cracking down on those who wanted the freedoms of the Western world. People like teachers, publishers, diplomats, and wizards.

Céleste senses that she no longer has parents, that they died in the war. Still, she hopes that one day her mother or father (though she has no hope that both would come) would find her working in the fields and take her away to a better life. Maybe not home, but someplace better.

Her current mother has been with her since they climbed aboard the boat, though she has no recollection of who brought her to the boat. She remembered the woman taking her and sheltering her and telling her to stop crying. Her mother is well into her fifties now. She looks old and very different than Céleste, she knows they are not related but for the last 6 years the woman has done her best to take care of her.

The bad things that come to good people has worn the woman down. There are only sharp edges to her, she has little warmth anymore, and she is cynical to a fault. "You are eleven, Céleste, and you will look eleven until you are 40, then you will turn fat and ugly. Enjoy what you have and don't ask for more. More is the work of evil thoughts. More only brings sadness."

Céleste doesn't want more, but she would like different - something that demands less physical labour and gives rewards more in line with the effort provided. She enjoys the quiet moments of the day when work is over and people have eaten what they have and prepare for sleep. She likes the pause between the breaths when you are tired but your eyes are open and you can listen to the people around you as they settle down for the night.

Her mother still tucks her in at night. She makes sure that the girl stays warm and remains fed. She believes her mother is looking for something better for her, though she can't imagine what it would be. She will often hear her mutter that children belong in school and not in fields, but that sentiment isn't shared by those that hire them. One day, perhaps when she is older, she hopes her mother will tell her about what her life had been before, about her parents, and about what she had hoped might have come to pass.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

Ecole Request:
Undecided

Personality:
Céleste is quiet. Some might confuse this with studiousness, but Céleste can barely read and write. It doesn't stop her from thinking, and she will ask questions, but Céleste prefers the quiet presence of others than to be involved in books. In a way, she is social, or at least sociable, though she will be the one who listens more than talks, and if she does speak, it is normally to ask a question. She doesn't dare voice her own opinions.

Céleste would rather share than possess, and rather listen than lead or follow. She prefers quiet moments to the bustle of the world around her. For her, a perfect moment is a group of people quietly sitting together just listening to everything around them, occasionally offering their observations without contempt or judgement. Those moments are few and far between, but she treasures them.

Appearance:
Céleste is Viet though she has a good does of European blood in her. Her eyes are rounder have a golden tone under the deep brown. Her nose is longer and slightly fuller and her jaw is a bit more angular. There is no doubt to anyone that she has European blood, but from which nation is hard to say. Presumably it is French, as the French have been part of Indochina for hundreds of years.

She is small of frame, thin and angular with a rounder face than one might expect based on her features. Her hair is dark black and straight and her eyes have a warmth in the dark brown tones. Her fingers are long but her hands are small. The first thing one would notice about Céleste is that she is dirty. Not that she is caked in dirt, but that under her nails there is dirt, and her hair is heavy and could probably use some washing. Once more in the bath might do her a world of good, if they could just keep the water clean enough not to add another layer.

Her clothes are tattered and worn and have been passed down from one immigrant family to another. They are well patched and resemble things worn 40 years ago. Whatever fashion that exists now had completely skirted her wardrobe. From shoes that are bound with string and glue, to patched dresses, to darned socks, and collars that have lost their lace. Whatever she owns was gotten for free, and she obviously got what she paid for.
