Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Alex and Olivia are both magical, but they are also both muggle born wizards. They both went to Hogwarts, Alex was in Gryffindor and Olivia was in Ravenclaw. Alex was on the quidditch team and Olivia was a prefect and they had interacted in separate circles until their 6th year, and didn’t start dating until their 7th year.

After school Alex went on to start an apprenticeship with a wand-maker and Oliva started healer training. Years later Olivia got pregnant with Ryder after being a practicing for 4 year and she decided to leave the hospital to be a stay at home mom and take care of her baby at least while he was small. Alex had moved along in his apprenticeship and was getting deeper into wandlore.

Having grown up on a farm allowed Ryder to explore and have many great adventures and learn and use his imagination. When he turned 2 he got a little brother, Landen. Ryder loved being a big brother and showing his little brother how things were done.

Ryder and Landen were always wondering off, once they were old enough to open the front door. At first it worried their mother greatly, but they always came home and they got older. They always got themselves into sticky situations coming home covered head to toe in dirty both giggle and refusing to tell their parents what they had been up to.

When Ryder started muggle school at age 5 you would’ve thought it was the end of the world was ending for the first week. He threw a fit time that he had to go to class and had to leave Landen behind. Eventually, as kids do Ryder adapted and the end of the school day became the best part of the day, even better than when dad came home, because he got to be with his best friend again.

The boys grew up together and got closer, and once both of them where in school their mom went back to work at the hospital part-time. Alex had moved along in his apprenticeship and was helping the master wand maker pick wood worthy of being coming a wand. His dad would go work on trips traveling to forest to look for wand wood, but always brought his sons back something from his adventures. Ryder displayed all of the treasures his father brought him in his window.

When Ryder turned 10 and was getting excited about the idea of going to Hogwarts, his little brother became ill. Laden’s illness progressed slowly it started as a cough it didn’t hold him back from having from with his brother, but it got worse over the course of the school year. Laden had been getting shuffled back and forth from the hospital all year as he got worse when it suddenly got worse. Around the time that Ryder got his letter from Hogwarts is the time the migraines started happening with Laden.

Laden spend his days indoors now in the quiet. Ryder has taken to reading in a whisper so that he would still be able to spend time with his brother. Shopping for his school supplies and robes was supposed to be the best day, but he didn’t enjoy it as much because Laden couldn’t come with him. Laden continued to get worse through the summer and had to be admitted to the hospital, he had developed a rash and gotten weaker.

Ryder didn’t want to leave his brother and had to be talked on getting on the Hogwarts express. Ryder worried about his brother, and for most of the ride there he sat in silence until a couple other new students burst into his compartment and started a conversation. He was able to put his brother to the back of his mind as he made quick friends and got shuffled to the castle and through he shorting. However, towards the end of term he was pulled from school and excused from exams, because his brother took a turn for the worst. Ryder went home and watched his brother, his best friend, die a week before Christmas.

Ryder felt guilty for getting caught up in Hogwarts and having fun while his brother stayed and got more and more sick. Going back for his spring term he was on auto pilot and just going through the motions. He was there but he wasn’t present, his marks were terrible and his parents got called to the school to try to help.

His head of house was the one that stepped in and made sure he did not fail out of school. They made him come to their office to do homework and he wouldn’t leave until it was satisfactory. Additionally, His head of house ordered him to spend time with his friends even if it was just sitting with them at meal times. Slowly it helped him. His friends were able to get him to smile again and sometimes forget about the pain and his head of house made sure he passed his classed, some of them only barely, and some he shouldn’t have pass but the teachers understood and rounded up.

The summer after Laden was gone he was sent to live with his grandparents in London, who were muggles, his parents thought it would help being away from the farm and it did. He was able to go to Digieon Alley and explore and keep in touch with the magical community. He stayed in touch with his friends when they send owls and his parents had gotten him a subscription to the daily prophet. His parents got him a new broom, it wasn’t top of the line, but it was better than the one he had and he didn’t plan on using that one again it had to many memories tied to it. His parents encouraged him to try out for quidditch, but he didn’t though he did enjoy just flying around the pitch when the teams weren’t practicing.

During his second year he got better. Christmas time was hard for him and he struggled through exams, but his marks were better and his head of house didn’t make him do homework in their office anymore. He leaned on his friends and when he went home to the farm for the first time in a year he cried until he couldn’t anymore. Being on the farm somehow made it final that his brother was gone and he started to really heal.

He took Laden’s favorite book back to Hogwarts with him and read pieces of it every night. His grades improved greatly and he was preforming at an above average level.

He spent his summer on the farm, spending 2 weeks in the middle of the summer with his best friend. When they went to the alley to get his supplies for his third year they also got him an Owl so that he could write to them more easily and thought that it would help, because this was the year that Laden would’ve started at Hogwarts.

Year 3 he did try out for the team, but didn’t make the cut. He was good enough that he was asked to sub in when a player was sick or had detention during a team practice. Though he never played a game he enjoyed watching them from the stands with his friends. His relationships got stronger and so did his grades. He was a stop performer in all his classed, except history of magic it just bored him that he would space out.

His 4th year after practicing all summer he made the team as a chaser. He loved the feeling of adrenaline and his classmates cheering him on. Quidditch is just what he needed to finally express his true potential. He opened up more and started really talking to the people outside of his friend group. He found his voice outside of the classroom and with his peers. Christmas was still the worst part of the year for him but it didn’t affect him like it used to. He also started noticing girls are more than just classmates.

He finished the year with top marks, great friends, and stories he couldn’t wait to tell his parents. He was excited to go home to the farm a feeling he never thought he would be able to feel again about the place.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

Ryder was spinning his wand in his hand like it was a drumstick. His mother constantly warned him not to do that or he would be buying himself a replacement or attempting to do course work without one. He rolled his eyes every time because he had gotten so good at it that he barely noticed he was even doing it. he stopped the spinning and cocked an eyebrow.

He took in the little girl. For some reason she reminded him of Laden, he would always be up for an adventure and would always cry if Ryder got ahead of him. However, unlike the John character that flew away, he would wait for Laden to catch up. He smiled a crooked smile that made him look younger than his 15, “Depends on what we are playing?”

He had 2 extra brooms in the barn at the farmhouse that he hadn’t touched since Laden died, had avoided them actually. They were old now and would definitely needed to be cleaned, but it was better than her toy broom that has been tossed to the side.

Hi Ryder!

I enjoyed reading your application. However before we can accept you, there are a few things we'll need you to change.

Quote
Olivia was a prefect

This site has been around for a really long time and so these positions have actually been filled by played characters. It's not fair to them for other people to say their character (or character's family members) had this role. We'll need you to remove that.

His head of house was the one that stepped in and made sure he did not fail out of school. They made him come to their office to do homework and he wouldn’t leave until it was satisfactory.

Again, this is a position that someone is actually playing. Once you apply Ryder to Hogwarts and get sorted, whoever ends up as his head of house might be willing to allow this in Ryder's backstory. Until then, you'll either need to remove the paragraph about his head of house or change it to say something less specific, like 'a staff member'.

At fifteen years old, Ryder would have been born before the Time Warp happened. This means either his muggle grandparents would no longer be around or they managed to get moved back in time as well.

Once you make those changes, please post your entire revised application below, and we'll be happy to take another look!
