Transfer Application

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Naomi Mary Watson

Birthday: April 6th, 1925

Hometown: Newport, Rhode Island

Bloodline: Pureblood

Current Levels: C8 D5 T5 S5

Current Year: Finished Freshman year, due to start Sophomore

Year Requested: Year 5

Reason for Transfer:

Naomi considered that, at this time, she wasn't getting the proper preparation for her future career at Salem. After watching the Inter-School Games, she concluded that the Hogwarts students might be getting that extra little bit that she needed. Hence why she decided to go ahead and apply for a transfer to Hogwarts, in her search for better schooling. For a better shot at becoming a good lawyer.

Biography:

Adrienne Mayer was born in Switzerland ... Jonathan Watson was American. The odds of these two people getting together and forming a family would've been quite small. However, it all happened at the end of a warm day in June 1920 on the south coast of France. Adrienne had been vacationing in Nice, attempting to blend in with the muggle population ... Hence why she was walking on the beach, carrying a parasol around, despite being close to the sunset. A sudden gust of wind came out of nowhere and pulled away the parasol out of her hand ... right at the feet of a young man who was standing on the beach. It was lightning at first sight ...

The pair moved to the States and got married in the next 6 months. However, Adrienne had difficulties finding work. She had been working at magical hospital in Geneve until the move. But none of the similar facilities around the area of Newport, Rhode Island, where the couple lived, wanted a European witch to work there. She was quite upset and she was barely maintaining her morale on floating level thanks to her husband. Jonathan had just opened an apothecary shop and was doing quite well, however his goal was to be a Potions Professor.

And that dream took a few good years to be accomplished, when he managed to get that particular position at Northeastern Wizarding College in Boston in 1924. Adrienne had managed to open a private healing practice in Boston and was handling herself quite well. One morning in early July 1924 though, she found out that she was pregnant ... news that had the potential to derail her work schedule quite a bit. However, she continued to go to work till she was close to the due date ... which was on April 24th 1925. It was a girl that the couple named Naomi. Naomi Mary Watson.

From day one, she got spoiled. By then, her parents were earning quite a lot and the baby was getting a lot of attention. However, it didn't take long before Adrienne got pregnant a second time. Another girl was born the year after that. Even more spoiling ensued, because Naomi felt sometimes neglected since her parents were busy with her younger sister. And it happened one more time with a third baby girl in the family. By now, Naomi had ditched the 'neglect' act and had switched to 'stick next to the sisters and get a share of the spoiling' act. Soon enough, she began to like her sisters and started to play with them more. Sure, Naomi was still getting spoiled sometimes but she seemed to prefer her sisters' company more. Obviously though, she wasn't saying 'no' to the spoiling ...

Years passed ... Jonathan Watson remained at Northeastern, while Adrienne switched from working at the healing practice to owning it. Naomi grew up, slowly but surely, getting herself and her sisters interested in the art of magic from whichever parent would be available when the lessons would come. Or from the nanny, whenever the woman would get to instruct the children in various fields of magic. The poor woman unfortunately also had to deal with various accidents and/or pranks that the sisters would cause around the house.

It took quite a while for the Watsons to get their daughters to behave more responsibly with magic. By the age of 8, Naomi was certainly doing a lot better when handling potions or the broom or the wand ... although the latter didn't quite work, obviously, since she didn't have the skill to cast spells just yet. At the same time, she was showing off the various things that her parents bought for her and her sisters to the other kids in the neighborhood. Being in a family with money felt quite good ... and the parents didn't quite have any answers about how to stop this whole 'spoiled brat' act ...

The only answer came when Naomi turned 11. Her parents decided to send her off to Salem, because they thought that the education given there might mold their daughter into less of a 'spoiled brat' and more into a 'regular witch'. At first, she seemed get more timid in her approach towards other students. Especially since her sisters weren't there. Until she figured that not everybody knew the word 'wealth' the way she did and started showing off a bit with her belongings. First, among firsties ... then the others. Most students weren't terribly impressed ... and could care less about her wealth status. But some firsties did get more interested in her and she slowly started gaining some popularity among them.

Second year, as Rachel joined her there, Naomi continued to be more interested in the popularity part than into school. Hence why the grades got all mediocre or even downright poor and, on Christmas holidays, her parents admonished her for that. She got threatened that her parents would transfer her somewhere else, if she didn't start getting her grades up. Naomi protested, feeling rather discriminated, since there were other students at Salem doing similar things and weren't getting this kind of treatment. At the end, she accepted the terms but she had the last word ... "When I grow up, I'll be a lawyer ... People should have equal rights ... This isn't fair."

Her grades did pick up somewhat, just barely to meet the requirements from her parents. But she wanted to try and get her popularity back up in the following two years at Salem. Except her rather aggressive and stubborn attitude didn't create too many fans. Either among students or adults. Still, that didn't deter her one bit. Naomi continued to call for her rights and the rights of others, no matter whom she had to take on. Including here Ministry employees or professors ... Because students had rights too and people couldn't just walk all over them.

As far as classes were concerned, Naomi developed some sort of interest towards Alchemy, although she didn't particularly appreciate their professor for that subject, Mr. Yale. Then there was Transfiguration, which was pretty much mandatory to be interested in, as her skills for this magical branch were severely lacking. At the same time, she kept her interests in Charms and, naturally, Quodpot.

However, towards the end of her Freshman year, Naomi realized that there was something seriously lacking in her classes. It seemed that the Hogwarts students were a lot more prepared. She had noticed that while watching the various ISG events. Maybe the Hogwarts professors were more knowledgeable and more involved in their classes? That was probably it, since her own classes at Salem seemed rather lacklustre and ... lacking punch all of a sudden. Yeah, that's the word she was looking for. Punch. And Naomi figured she needed that 'punch' in order to become a successful lawyer someday.

Hence why she applied for transfer to Hogwarts at the end of the term. She had told her family but she wasn't sure what they would be doing. Particularly her sisters. They were important. But, if she wanted to succeed, something had to give ...

[Hogwarts] House Request:

I will leave it to the Hat to decide.

Personality:

Naomi prefers experiencing the fine things in life. like quality clothes, shoes, food and so on. To put it more bluntly, she pretty much expects those things to come to her. As already mentioned in the bio section, she is a spoiled brat.

She works at the minimum to do any chores or tasks she might have to accomplish. If she gets told that she should start improving, she demands that she gets compensated for it. Because Naomi believes there should be a balance between work and compensation, since she believes other kids most likely expect the same thing.

Moreover, she is a very strong supporter of people's rights. She believes every person has rights and freedoms and that the people should be allowed to use those rights and freedoms. After all, everybody is equal, as far as these are concerned. Nobody has more or less rights than the others. And it should stay that way.

Boys ... she likes to show off and expects some sort of response from them. If there's no response soon enough, then she decides they're not worth the trouble. Sometimes she wonders if she could pay a boy to be her boyfriend ... because that time about relationships is coming rather quickly.

The only people she tolerates without really expecting much in return are her sisters. She likes spending time with them and likes planning all sorts of stuff to do with them, stuff which can range from shopping to boys.

Appearance:

Naomi is 5-foot-3 tall with a slim build, rather proud of it. She has brown hair, which she usually leaves in curls to just below the shoulder. She also has brown eyes, exhibiting almost a hypnotic stare sometimes. Despite looking like a little and weak person, she can show off some bursts of strength sometimes. That happens mostly whenever she is upset and uses that negative energy into fueling those bursts.

Please reply to the Sample Roleplay below.

What were partner projects about anyway?

Simon wasn't a loner, but he loathed any type of assignment that required him to team up with anyone. In his book, the only truly trustworthy student was himself. So naturally, when he'd been instructed to team of with a classmate and turn in a research report on the Muggle-American Civil War, Simon had been rather disappointed.

The library that afternoon was deserted aside from Simon and his partner. Before them lay a plethora of textbooks. Wars: Old and New by Kevin Torvalt. When You Say Civil... by Emma Jean. Each book was old and worn even more than the last. In a way, it was almost impressive that the books had lasted this long and still been put to such good use. Simon figured that there weren't many things for which that could be said.

Simon leafed through a copy of Understanding America by Harvey Wires, sighing heavily as each page flipped over on top of itself. He wondered what the student next to him was thinking. He was thinking that this was a drag. These books were probably boring beyond belief, despite their interesting appearance. The library was stuffy from the heat outside. Finally growing too bored from the text, Simon slammed the book shut and sat upright.

"How about I write the essay and stuff? You can just put your name on it. Sound good?"

Answer

Naomi wasn't terribly keen on this report. Muggles ... well, they seemed interesting. Mostly because that they had to get along without magic. But studying their wars ... she wasn't quite sure what good that would do. The brunette also knew that she needed a good grade on this report, in order to compensate for the foul-up from the previous assignment. Clearly her idea of 'three feet of parchment' was different from that of the professor. She had pondered questioning his measurement of the paper but had decided against it.

Nonetheless, this report needed to be better than average ... She would've preferred however if she wouldn't have been paired up with Simon. He seemed to be rather paranoid about pairing up with people. What exactly was wrong with teaming up? Two heads were better than one, right? Even if one was average and one was just above average ... Well, in her view, anyway. Hence why she was now sitting in the library and looking through one of the textbooks. She had actually reached a rather interesting passage when he had made the commotion with the book and then his words.

"How about I write the essay and stuff? You can just put your name on it. Sound good?"

Naomi looked up rather displeased that she had been disturbed. She was actually getting somewhere with her ideas on the report when the interruption had occured. Not cool. Well, if this was how he would want to play ... The brunette laid the book on the table and stared at him intently, before speaking. "Now look here, Simon ... You're probably as not terribly excited about this assignment as I am. But I actually need a good grade on this. Can you guarantee me that grade? Would you also confirm that guarantee in writing?" She made a pause, as if allowing him to answer, but she didn't and went straight on. "No? I didn't think so. So let's just get to work. The sooner we finish, the sooner I'll be out of your hair ... Do we have an agreement on that?" At which point she stopped and this time actually gave him the opportunity to speak. That was the best deal he would get out of her and he would be smart enough to take it.
